    ABOUT SPEAKER
    Ajahn Brahmavamso Mahathera (lovingly known to most as Ajahn Brahm) was born Peter Betts in London, United Kingdom in August 7, 1951. He came from a working-class background, and won a scholarship to study Theoretical Physics at Cambridge University in the late 1960s.
    After graduating from Cambridge he taught in high school for one year before travelling to Thailand to become a monk and train with the Venerable Ajahn Chah Bodhinyana Mahathera.
    Whilst still in his years as a junior monk, he was asked to undertake the compilation of an English-language guide to the Buddhist monastic code - the Vinaya - which later became the basis for monastic discipline in many Theravadan monasteries in Western countries
    BUDDHIST CENTRE
    While registered as a Buddhist not-for-profit association, Buddhist Society of Victoria (BSV) welcome members of all backgrounds and religions.
    Located in Melbourne, our East Malvern centre hosts programs that guide members on meditation; as well as practical Buddhist teachings for kids, teenagers, and adults.
    Our spiritual advisor is Ajahn Brahm, the Abbot of Bodhinyana Monastery located in Western Australia.

    What a wonderful world we are living in. We can have access to the true dhamma, not all that book talks, but a real Dhamma that comes from direct knowledge, just by pressing a button on our cellphones. I am so grateful.

    I started watching ajahn brahm videos 3 years ago and they really changed my life.After a while I started feeling like I had watched most of his videos and they were starting to feel a bit repetitive.however I have started rewatching his videos and I now find that there is so much in those old videos I watched that I did not understand at that time.Its honestly like there are layers and layers of hidden knowledge in his dharama talks that only become apparent to you as you yourself achieve progress in your own path.

      I agree! Sometimes I have a huge insight and I'm like "why didn't all those spiritual books I read explain this?" Then I look at them again and see they DID explain it! I just didn't have the capacity to absorb it.

    This is the most intelligent talk I heard about meditation !finally I met a monk who understands the mind! I was meditating in Devon with Banthé. I discovered a lot with him but I also discovered that I don’t want to be so unfriendly with myself as I had to be in his meditations. With all the respect I feel for his teaching. Because in his personal moving I understood what was wrong in his teaching as well. But this is the first time I hear a monk talking like this thank you very much!

    I had a deep meditation after listening to this talk. It wasn't a Jhana. But making peace with your self, accepting, forgiving and loving your self/mind does take off much of the suffering we carry within our hearts. Thank you for the video. :)

    I’ve had wonderful meditations because of what Ajahn Brahm talks about. Some are extremely difficult, and that’s because I haven’t learned how to COMPLETELY control my mind, but when me and him get along, when my conscious motives are in line with my internal motives, or when I allow my internal world to simply “go” until it stops on its own, I have meditations where I too, couldn’t be moved with a 1000 water buffaloes. :p :)
    Peace, love, health, non-attachment, and true joy to all! ❤

    The mango simile. When I first started listening to Ahahn Brahm in 2011, I had no expectations whatsoever. I had no idea what I was about to hear. Then just like he said, all these mangoes started to fall on my hands. To this day, mangoes continue to fall.

    dear ajarn brahn id like to take this moment to say thankyou one my good friends a srilanki introduced me to you 4 years ago and when im having a tough time I close my eyes and listen to your meditations I am not a religious man by any means nor even a buddist by any means but that doesent matter I do not do wrong by anybody and wish no harm againts and I do belive in peace and happyness and im on my way to find it I have been done wrong by in the past by a lot of people . and unfortunately a lot of people take me for me for face value and see my image and that is all they see "I cant help the way I look" but deep down that is not who I am .. I have 12y/o daughter and want nothing but the best for her I do have problems and can happily say they are slowly getting sorted but I cant help other peoples problems that are affecting my life at the same time I would just realy like to say I am glad that I met you and to say thankyou verymuch I honestly mean that from inside thankyou

    I’ve noticed some people say this is repetitive and so on. It’s a style of teaching that is used in many cultures outside the west where rote learning has its benefits and is employed differently to what we would be used to now in schools. Notice how the teaching is done: four noble truths eight fold path and practice makes perfect

    Ajahan Braham is so easy to listen to. I really have the upmost desire to change my state, but I do realise in doing such I am going against the grain of his teaching and the essence of buddism. I do believe buddism is such a religion that the teaching can be used by anybody and everybody without the formalities to attain a peaceful life. I know I am just a mere non learnt individual, but I do believe Buddha never really had the desire for him to be worshipped as he said quite clearly that everybody has a buddha within. Please carry on with your uploading of your talks and would really like to catch up with you if you ever visit the UK.

    “When someone seeks," said Siddhartha, "then it easily happens that his eyes see only the thing that he seeks, and he is able to find nothing, to take in nothing because he always thinks only about the thing he is seeking, because he has one goal, because he is obsessed with his goal. Seeking means: having a goal. But finding means: being free, being open, having no goal.”

    To give up control of self is control within it self. It is the will of the self which one wants to relinquish. The question is to what, whom and where does one give up to. It must be of a Universal place to rest all that the will desires. It is of an energy, a force, a collective intelligence, consciousness, love, forgiveness and refuge for the intellects pain and suffering. It is a Higher Power. A power of all living things. It is what God is. What nature is. What the Universe is. And, even what science is. But of the mind, intellect, and will it is not. Thus one must ask and expect this Greatness to be your will. To be your intellect. To be your understanding. To be your force of all things.

    Why I can't meditate, especially with guided meditation; Focus on your breathing. Deep breath in... and out. In... and out. Now do that X times.
    What I'm thinking; I can't wait for this stressful breathing part to be over. I'm getting a little light headed.

    • @Maarten8867
      @Maarten8867 8 лет назад

      +Xethavosh Maybe try just to do nothing when you meditate. Or doing metta meditation.

    • @aaaarrrgggghh
      @aaaarrrgggghh 8 лет назад

      +Xethavosh if you are getting light headed it means you are hyperventilating, not breathing. If concentrating on breathing stresses you out, concentrate on your left toe instead.

    • @aaaarrrgggghh
      @aaaarrrgggghh 8 лет назад +1

      jay ver
      my mentioning on the left toe was a little sarcastic, lol but yeah thinking about something else would stop you from hyperventilating. The body breathes normally when you don't bother its rhythm by obsessing about it. I am not talking as a meditator but as a sea diver.
