This is a fan project I made using Unreal Engine 5. I love pvz 1 and wanted to see how it would look reimagined in 3D so I made this small demo.
When the fanbase of PvZ has done more to keep the game alive than EA
😂 LOL

In exchange for being able to freely shoot to any lanes, the plants have a chance to miss. I love this man, as not only it is a 3d rendition of the game, it introduces a really unique mechanic that makes the game itself really good.

Legit better than what PVZ 3 tried to be and failed miserably
This is what PvZ3 would look like if they let the initial designers of pvz2 or maybe the btd6 designers have a jab at it, bigger, better in every way to its predecessor, and more fun.

You know your work is really appreciated by the community, when they actually give out suggestions on how to make it better. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORKS MY MANNNN
I like how only the original pea shooter has the ability to shoot anywhere. It give him an actual use late game. A suggestion I would have is to make pots a requirement for planting on the roof. This would not only give the pot a use outside of roof levels, but also give a trade off of more planting space for one less seed packet. Over all this looks great and I can't wait to see where this goes in the future!
I think he's not gonna make the entire game, just this long ass level.
Pots are a requirement for plating on the roof.
peashooter can shoot different lands is illegal
Pea Shooters being able to shoot across lanes is honestly a great feature.
Pros:
- It gives it a reason to exist once you're at the point where you can shovel enough sun in the first minute to just use threepeaters or gatling peas instead.
- In the earlygame, it makes it a little easier to pick off singular zombies without having to mess up the economy or waste extra sun on a spud or cherry.
- In the endgame, it can focus multiple lanes worth of pea shooters on the important targets and leave the others to clear out any issues off to the sides.
- The more lanes there are, the more effective a rank of aimable shooters gets.
Cons:
- Because of how the physics work, the stronger shooters are better used on the outer lanes while the aimable pea shooters are best on the inner ones.
- It renders spuds pretty useless in those first few minutes when you'd usually be working on economy.
- Once the waves heat up a little, and especially if corpses block peas for a few seconds after dying like they do in the original, the extra investment in basic shooters will suck.
- Becomes stronger the more lanes there are, even though adding lanes should normally increase difficulty and strain on the economy.
- Can never be better than stronger pea shooters in the lategame, except when singular high-value targets approach.
- Micromanagement out the ass. PvZ is very much about just letting things happen, at least the first one is. Pea shooters on the edge could be aiming elsewhere long enough to be wiped with ease.
@@king5327 so, it just makes the game easier, unbalanced. Yeah, great feature...

I'm really fascinated by some of the concepts, here. Those roof tiles have SO much potential. There's the obvious protection anything up there has from being eaten, but because of the auto-targeting, I thought at first that they also offered some kind of inherent bonus to anything that was planted there. Like a "hero" unit in traditional strategy games that affects the way you build the rest of your lawn.

I love that the plants can shoot outside their lanes, but I feel like certain plants placed on the roof should have a certain range limit so things like cabbage pults can act as sort of like an aerial artillery and scaredy shrooms can act like snipers. I think that’d be cool.
plants should start shooting when the zombies is in the side walk
@@Placergg Or when ''there's a zombie on the lawn''
I think that the range thing should be just a perfect accuracy range, which would be the entire yard for scaredy shrooms and the pult plants, but just be half the yard for the normal shooters. The normal shooter could still shoot, just they would be more likely to miss if the zombies are further away. And the shots could be faster than the peas.
i love this i also think it is a little much for plants on the lawn to shoot anywhere
It's only peashooter that can do that because the dev wanted it to have something to make it more than a weaker repeater
Seeing it in actions, I actually really like the aiming mechanic because, as you E demonstrated be used to make peashooters act close to how they normally would by aiming at a point between the plants and zombies and spreading out the fire or it can be used to focus a column of zombie and give you time to develop the garden. Knowing when to change to how you are using peashooters adds a bit more tactical decision making to the early and mid game, before you’ve got enough to mostly pummel any amount of zombie thrown at you, of course. It’s a cool addition that adds to the game without detracting from original feel too much.
If you continue to add on to this, I have a suggestion: Zombies that could travel across the lanes. It would make use of the game's 3d, and it would introduce some more gameplay (like increasing the benefits of having base peashooter aimable.)
@@starcountry01 This is the second channel the guy who made it. The creator owns this channel.
Imo its not good that peashooters can spin toward mouse position. Better to add plants oriented on this(garlic already exist and so on)
The aiming was purely just for planting on the roof
@@chance1479 Exactly. Give it more of a use other than just that

One thing I would maybe suggest would be to allow the player to press a button to lock on the peashooter firing to one area. Then press the button again for manual control. Kinda like the gatling monkey from bloons. That way they won't stop firing when you go to plant more plants or collect sun
I like how you brought up bloons, it reminded me of bloons too, but I don’t see this as an option in regular BTD, is this possibly in a later game? I only play the original, the rest just seem too complex and have unnecessary things in the game.
Automatic aim would be overpowered 😮 then again, maybe not, because you don’t want to focus on one specific zombie, it’s better to spread rather than focus.
@@Mr.NobodyOfficial its in ballons tower defense 6 or btd6
@@Mr.NobodyOfficial In btd6 and btdb2 you can choose to aim the dartling gunner tower manually or to lock it in place. There is even another upgrade that makes the tower aim all by itself

Art direction and attention to detail in all the models is astounding, this looks better than proffesional. Amazing work!
I really love how crazy things get once night hits. It's got a bit of a "Dying Light" vibe to it, and the final, like, 7 waves being all on top of one another should be one super wave with the text "Not even God can save you now" or something. The defense was just in shambles after.
Perfectly executed!
Would love to see a full release!
Awesome Game so far! A couple things that could improve it;
-Have a toggle/keybind for aiming for the peashooter so it's not pointed at the seed packets as much (or make it a different plant entirely)
-More plant and zombie variety would add a lot.
-The final wave seems too hard... unable to be beaten without losing all your lawnmowers.
Keep up the great work!
i wanna try beating it without losing my lawnmowers
Just did it without losing any mowers.
Spoilers if you read more.
The idea is that 1 potato mine can kill infinite zombies if they're stacked enough. Wall nuts are great for stacking zombies, and snow peas slow the chewing and walking of the front guys to give the zombies in the back more time to stack.
You only need this in the late game, so you can safely put your sunflowers in the back until it's time to start planting nuts.
1 or 2 columns of potato mines in the back, wall nuts just in front of the mines, at least 1 snow pea column, the rest are repeaters and maybe more nuts for stall.
You don't even need all rows to have mines, since you have time for 1 cherry bomb. Maybe 2, I haven't tried.
You don't have enough time to stack them if the walls are up front, the biggest stacker is the walking speed and the snow pea slowing down the front line. The wall nuts are just there to make absolutely sure.
definitely gonna love this...awesome work. Keep posting updates on this, Bobby!
the way the hats are flying all over the place when the zombies get mowed is so cool!!
i hadn't played pvz in a long time so when this video got recommended to me, i had to download it again & play it. I wish EA would take the time to make something this amazing but i'm glad someone is doing it!
I find peashooters being able to aim around other lanes a little off since ir kinda undermines other plants that would normally be able to do that as their speciality
Cattail and threepeater
Also I think you shouldn't be able to plant on the roof without plant pots
Besides that this looks amazing overall
The extra lanes are there to accommodate for the aiming abilities, I bet. I know how chaotic it’ll be once the special zombies are introduced.
well you have to aim it manually unlike cattail tho
Amazing work! It's always fun to remake something to learn the product. I know someone that can't stop playing PvZ and will love this.
Aside from the voxel style, aimable peashooter and extra lanes beyond 5-6 I love the aesthetics and feel of this. I'd love to see a fully made version of this it looks so fun. Maybe give the aiming ability to Gatling pea or add Agent Pea from PvZ GW2 as a plant for that ability. Maybe make certain plants like Scardy-Shroom be able to target things off the lawn as a niche bonus since Scardy shoom is a sniper potted consumable plant in the PvZ shooter games.
scaredy shroom is in the original game
@@kitsune_forest I know, I was just citing it's sniper role in other PvZ games as rational for being able to hit zombies off the lawn.
Yes PLEASE continue work on this, this looks amazing, no joke I would pay up to $30-50 for a full release of this with all levels worlds and minigames
I feel like this is what a pvz 3 could like with some polishing and variety added. Not a fan of the pixel graphics and the peashooter following the mouse, but I love the idea of the many lanes and the level slowly transitioning into the night, that’s awesome. Plants being able to be planted on the roof is really cool too. Though I don’t think the camera should move away from the lawn
Might be a bit nerdy but,its voxels not pixels.
I like the art style but i don't really like base peashooter being aimable, roof peashooter could work like that.
Bro are you serious? It’s not needed but the camera moving is cool

A $30 dollar console & pc PvZ3 that is an upgrade from PvZ1&2 like how btd6 is a complete upgrade in every aspect from btd5 would be a dream come true
A cool idea would've been being able to plant cherrybomb & potato mine on the other side. Otherwise, this is insane! I've grown up with the PVZ franchise being my childhood and YOU just evolved it, amazing!
A really neat concept, it looks really cool. I wouldn't say it's PvZ3 material (as others have claimed), but it would make a neat spinoff.
How is this not PVZ 3 material? Id play this in a heart beat over the actual PVZ 3
@@Visualstuffidlk It's way too far from the core gameplay of pvz. Auto aim, massive board, huge hoards of zombies. In PvZ1, 2, and even what we've seen of PvZ3, every space on the board matters as you design a strategy. In this game, it's all about amassing a large defense. The concept of specialized plants and zombies kinda falls apart in such a huge environment.
I'm not saying it isn't GOOD enough to be PvZ3, I'm just saying it isn't enough like the rest of mainline PvZ series to qualify.
I really love this, this is honestly amazing. My only minor critics are the fact that the Peashooters can shoot anywhere, I know that it would make more sense and that’s how they are in Garden Warfare, but I think it probably just makes the game easier, and it’ll probably target zombies that don’t need to be targeted. It also kinda makes the Cattail useless, because that’s what everyone uses it for. I also find it weird that they can be planted on the roof without a pot, or even on the roof to begin with, because how would zombies be able to get it unless you introduced the bungee zombies. Other than that, this is an amazing remake! Visually, it looks amazing, gameplay wise, it looks fun as hell to play. I love the designs, the colors, the lighting, everything. Keep up the good work!
omg i LOVE pvz in this 3D pixel style SO MUCH
i feel like the auto aim should be a specific plant rather than just the regular pea shooter though.
granted im not in any way a game designer, but i feel like it would mess up some of the flow of the lawn defense. having something that can hit all lanes be just 100 sun seems a tad busted.
all in all though this is really awsome, and i think you should continue this project if you want to!
I agree, it should be a different plant. Asparagus maybe?
It’s to make peashooter stand out from snow pea and repeater
Actual reason was simply so you could plant more than sunflowers on the roof due to how the aiming for the plants work
I do think this could be fixed by making another plant that could do this like aspearagus, or another auto one like cabage pult or melon pult
Though there are other plants i think would be awesome in this game, like magnet shroom or puff shroom, overall though, i love what this remake aspires to emulate!
@@bruh_moment2833peashooter is the first plant you get in the game, it introduces concepts like "how many hits to kill?" And it's a primary line of defense for at least both day and night front lawn, trying to make it "different" by making it more busted doesn't make much sense, considering it's the "beginner's" plant
@@William_3DS this isn’t normal PvZ 1. Technically every plant in this game are beginner plants because you get them ALL AT THE START. There’s no beginning levels, just one big level. So in order to make people not just spam repeaters and have one column of snow peas, they made it so peashooter can aim so if you want, you could have peashooters to target lanes where zombies are getting far.
other than the blockiness THIS is what pvz3 should look like
This is actually really cool! The mechanics are amazing, 10/10.
I love how the time changes, the fact that i can go from day to night is fascinsting.
This artstyle is lovely, but I think slightly simpler shapes might be a little better. Don't feel like you need to make everything out of those 1x1 Voxels - hexagons and octagons can go a long way, as can sloped sides. I think Low-Poly suits this series SLIGHTLY more than Voxels.
this is absolutely wild and amazing! i love the fact you can plant on the roof too. the pea shooters are like little snipers lol
actually doable and gameplay mechanic friendly suggestion: add a keybind when the peashooters aim where your mouse is pointing at so it's easier to plant without the peashooters aiming down where your seed inventory is.
The Sound Effects are wild
Suggestion: Make the projectiles have a limited lifespan, this makes it so more basic plants cannot attack outside the lawn if they are planted closer to the house, this would make an interesting challenge to plan where you will plant something like peashooters before hand, and allow other plants like catapults or cactus to shine outside the levels they are forced fo exist in
Also, an enhancement system for plants on the roof could prove very good too! I thought of some examples
This could work by plants needing more sun to be planted on the roof, like Sunflower from 50 to 150 for example
Peashooter: Shot cooldown is way larger, but it can one-shot non-armored zombies on the lawn
Sunflower: Sun production is enhanced from 24 seconds to 18
Repeater: Fires three peas instead of one
Snow Pea: Fires at a random zombie on the lawn, shots now stun for a short time
Kernel Pult: Fires a cob into the air that breaks into multiple corn grains and hits random zombies, cannot fire butter
Cabbage Pult: Fires at the zombie with most health even outside the lawn, shot now ricochets off zombies 2 times
Melon Pult: Shot cooldown is heavily extended, but now it can cause serious damage to ONE zombie, no splash damage
This is similar to the Plant Food mechanic on PVZ2 but less instantaneous, making it so every plant is enhanced but not to the point of being an instant win button
I just want to mention that this was made by one guy and it took 4 months,he won't be updating it,so no further content it was just a little project of his,he did the same with Metroid
Peashooter and snowpeater would be op af
Imagine if regular pea shooter could aim as well in the original game, this is actually amazing what you did here dude keep up the good work
I love that voxel style of the game, just perfect
PD: The fact that the peashooters don't just shoot a line, and instead aim where there are zombies feels more tower defense than the original game

This is impressive for just a concept, but there is much room for improvement. Here is an assortment of fixes and suggestions to help you.
Fixes -
In the current state of the game, there is no strategy involved. This problem is enforced by the lack of zombie variety and the abundance of rows and columns.
The changes I would make are:
For progression sake, go back to the 10x5 layout, bigger spaces can be expanded upon later on in the game (or you could mess around with lawn layout in mini games or new game+)
Have the roof require plant pots
Make plants that are on the roof have their projectiles slanted with the roof
Make a new plant which follows the cursor instead of applying it to the pea shooters
Suggestions -
If you keep the extra view of the road then balance the game around that; giving the player that much time to defend against a threat they spot will have consequences
If planting on the roof stays add an item you need use the space up there so it isn’t available immediately (plant pots, ladders, etc)
Personally I’d go for 3D recreations of the original models for the plants and zombies
You should take this chance to mess around with the day night cycle, examples of the possibilities include:
Day 1, night 1, day 2, night 2, etc.
Other times of day like sunset or midnight
Different weather like rain or snow
each zombie attack being at a different time of day could really shake things up
Logistically if the zombies were to target the roof it would be because the front and back doors weren’t an option for either them or the player.
This means the doors probably get barricaded after night and fog 10, that could be something you expand on.
There is day, night, pool, fog and roof, but why stop there? Why not roof night, basement, or even the side of the house’s window?
As cool as all of the above is, feel free to ignore all of it. No harm done. Have fun!

Hello, first of all, I want to say that your work is absolutely beautiful and I love it. I hope that you will continue to develope this very ACCURATE part 3, to make it more and more perfect.
Because of that, I have a small suggestion to improve this masterpiece: Recommend adding a toggle that allows players to switch plant's mode between auto-aim to manual-aim, so that players can perform some other actions (like placing more plants) without missing unwanted shots from existed plants.
Once again, you have done a great job, you have liven up likely everyone's dream. Thank RUclips for recommending this video for me, and thank you for helping me have a good trip to the good old days ❤

THIS is how you properly take advantage of the game being in 3D. 100 times better than wtf popcap is doing with pvz 3
my mind blew up when you placed the sunflower in the roof
Please continue working on this its too good
7 lanes and they shoot more than just straight? this is so cool! i hope ill get to play this one day
Make it so if you right click the little stage meter thing in the corner, it goes to the top of the screen and gets bigger so you can see it better.
Maybe add more plants and zombies as well, like twin sunflower, or gatling pea.
That is how 3D-games are made? Thank you that was very interesting.
I feel like if they only make the plants on the roof mouse aim instead of both ground and air, I feel like people may use the mouse aim feature more wisely as there are so many zombies and certain parts need timing and strategy
yeah, or maybe add pots and make it so that only potted plants can aim, allowing you to put them on the ground just at an increased cost
Furthermore, this would help prevent the player accidentally spamming Peashooters, move the mouse to collect sun, and deny the firepower for defenses at a critical moment. That being said, yeah, maybe it is fine as an accidental balancing mechanic as you can focus fire at problematic spots but lanes can easily be overrun.
It's not just PVZ1 in 3D.
It completely new game with new interactions and mechanics. I love itm
this is a cute proof of concept, outside of peashooters being able to aim everywhere i think this is pretty cool and with some tweaks (changing waves to progress similarly to the original PvZ, adding more zombie variants, proper levels... probably also shortening the playing field and changing it so you can't plant on top of the roof, LOL) this would honestly make for a killer start to a fan-game!
Idea: Maybe the Peashooters don’t *need* to have functionality on the roof. That’s what Cabbage, Melon, and Kernel Pult is for!

3. Smasher: This Ones REALLY CHEAP for money when you choose a zombie it instantly kills zombies by smashing it. (you can buy multiple)
