That would help direct the sound…. But it still would capture quite a lot of ambient noise. You’d probably want a really long microphone if you want to use a setup like that. I’m not really sure the best microphone for that style.
Hi Tony. Thanks for this super informative video. My question is this. I cannot seem to figure how do get rid of the very irritating hiss/white noise when its paired with my R6. I set my internal Camera Rec volume to about max out at -12db. This however does not solve the issue, and the white noise is still prevalent. Please can you advise on what Im doing wrong. It would be much appreciated Thanks a mil
Hi @@TonyMellinger , I tested another cable. The same thing. I have sent an audio recording test to Rode themselvesand they are of the opinion that its the R6 pre-amps thats causing this scratch/ hissing noise. If you don’t mind confirming whether you hear any of this with your R6 , as Perhaps its a issue with the Camera rather than the mic, in whivh case I need to get Canon involved. Thanks a mil
You should review Rode ntg. I love the mics
Believe it or not, I’ve never used one! I have been using a sennheiser mke600.
Ohhh wait! I do have an NTG. My biggest problem with mine is it got wet and I don’t think it works as well as it used to. Oops
loving my GO II.
It’s a solid mic for $100!
rode video mic pro looks like is not compatible with my r6 mark 2 how did u manage to use it?
How is it incompatible? You can just plug it in the mic jack 🤷🏼♂️
Would you consider this with a parabolic reflector for wildlife video or is there a preferred other make/model for that purpose?

Súper informative.
Thanks for watching!
Is it possible to use the USB-C Port on my camera? (R7)
I dont think so. Hopefully in the future!
what settings did you use with video micro? in canon r6 i cant make it without noise...
I’ve heard others say that. I wonder if it’s the cable
Is there any acoustic treatment done in the room?
No just regular furniture in the room

Hmm my first thought is you’ve got a bad cable. I’d try using a different cable to see if it goes away.
@@TonyMellinger thank you so much Tony. I will try that.

@@armandlombard do you have another mic to see if it makes the same noise? That would confirm it’s the cameras pre amps.
8:52 pro tip from SALT 😁
Thanks audio guy Travis. 😝
