I have watched countless RUclips videos trying to figure out the various routes to and around Tianmen Mountain. So glad that I came across this video. You are the only RUclipsr who has provided a crystal clear explanation of the route options. Well done and thank you.
Nice video. Looks like the color at Tianmen is very dull during this time. I wonder how it would look like in Autumn. It would be great if the park caretaker plant colourful autumn trees there.
Thanks! The park is as natural as it should be. The forest, the river, the lake and the sandstone towers all exist from the beginning. So i think its best to keep it as natural and authentic as possible
@@mamabobo3104 Yes, definitely. The average temperature in Zhangjiajie in December is around 7 degrees Celsius. Pretty cold and it could snow in the high altitude, so the view is going to be amazing. It also has a low probability of rain and hence not likely to be foggy.
Thank you for replying so fast. Do you mind letting me know how you get to Zhangjiajie from Singapore (assuming you are Singaporean from your accent). Which hotel did you stay at? Sorry for asking so many questions. 😊
Hey no problem. Indeed we are Singaporeans. 🇸🇬 You can check out this video on how to get there. For us, we got there by high speed train from Guangzhou to Zhangjiajie. You can also choose to fly to Changsha via Scoot and then take the high speed train from there, around 2 hours. We stayed in Hilton Hotel in Zhangjiajie City. It’s relatively inexpensive and close to both Tianmen Mountain and the Zhangjiajie Train station. No worries, let me know if you need more tips or suggestions.
Hey, yes, there is an international airport but is quite limited to a few airlines flying there. Alternatively, you can take a high speed train there from major Chinese cities. You can check out the details in this video. ruclips.net/video/MKxNpwAf63Y/видео.htmlsi=ERh3tovESYWnrmpr
Hello I in Australia QLD I have been watching video clips of the national park of china and the remote villages and would love to plan a trip to cover as much as I can. How long would you suggest to do zhangjiajie and I believe Hunan and the Rainbow mountain at least? Your videos have been very helpful, thank you very much.
Hey, thanks and glad that the video has been helpful. I would suggest at least four to five days in Zhangjiajie so that you can really slow down and soak in the sights, probably with a side trip to the ancient towns of Furong and Fenghuang.
Hello! Thanks for your video. It provides a very good overview! I am planning to bring kids (3 and 5 yo) so we may need to skip some spots (if not most! 😅) and keep it simple. Please allow me to ask few questions here :) Let’s say if we are to take the shortest and easiest route to accommodate the kids: 1) How far is it from the upper station to the restaurant/ food place? 2) And from the upper cable car station to the escalator going down tianmen cave? 3) Can we avoid the glass skywalk or is it mandatory in any routes? (I worry the kids are too scared and don’t want to walk on it at all) 😂 and lastly, 4) are both the long cable car ride and the express cable car work in both direction?(is it possible to take the exact same cable car route going up and down). Thanks in advance! Your input would mean A LOT!
Thank you Gilbert .we planning go to zhangiejie march 2025 . Should we get tour from hotel or go solo without tour . I don’t like tour becos their limited your hours and bring you to shop 😩
Hi there! March is probably one of the best time to visit Zhangjiajie. Not too cold but cool enough for a nice hike. When you are there, you don’t need to get tours from anywhere. Just go on your own and enjoy Tianmen Shan at your own pace.
Great video! I plan to go there next month. How many days do you recommend staying at Zhangjiajie Town? I also want to visit Furong and Fenghuang. Do you recommend staying overnight or just doing a day trip to these two towns?
Thanks! And hey, it’s great to know. I think it will be great to spend a least 4 days at Zhangjiajie to explore the parks there. Then you can take a day trip to Furong. A day trip to Fenghuang is possible too but it’s further so perhaps spending a night there is not a bad idea.
Yes, definitely. The average temperature in Zhangjiajie in December is around 7 degrees Celsius. Pretty cold and it could snow in the high altitude, so the view is going to be amazing. It also has a low probability of rain and hence not likely to be foggy.
Hi, the entrance is opposite the Hampton by Hilton. So search for this hotel, and it’s just the opposite. This is also the place where you purchase the tickets to the park.
Hello Gilbert, for Tianmen mountain visit does it take whole day or half day is enough? I’m going in December so let me know how long it will take for me for the visit
We are planning a trip from Singapore to Zhangjiajie in mid September, do you mind sharing your itinerary ?Is 7 days including arrival n departure day sufficient to cover Zhangjiajie?
Yes, 7 days can be sufficient to cover Zhangjiajie. You can spend 3 days at the zhangjiajie forest park and 1 or 2 days at Tianmen Shan and a day either at Fenghuang or Furong ancient town.
Hi Gilbert, thank you for your great video. How much is the ticket to Tienmen Mountain ( including the cable car ride) and is there a discount for seniors? Can you share your tour itinerary? Is the walk it too tough for seniors ( above 65)? Thanks.
Hey, you are most welcome and nice to know that you enjoyed the video. The two-way tickets to Tianmen Shan which include the cable car rides, is RMB275. The tickets can let u have access to the park over 4 days. For seniors up to 60 years old, the price is RMB 144. And if you are 65 or above the price is just RMB113. Tianmen Shan is not super huge, unlike the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, so a full day at Tianmenshan should be sufficient. The walk is a moderate walk, not physically taxing but it is a pretty long trail. So if you are exercising regularly, it should be ok. Otherwise, you can split the visit over 2 days. One day to take the cable car to the top and do a short trail there. And second day, go the other route where the Tianmen cave is.
@@gibbontravelogue Thank you so much for your speedy reply. Your info is really useful. By the way, the 4-day ticket in Zhangjiajie National Forest Reserve and Tienman San, mean no need to pay for the cable car or shuttle bus on the 2nd day?

Hey, glad you find the video helpful. Your children are both quite young and you are right that the full routes are definitely not suitable. From what I experience is that you can take the bus to the front of Tianmen mountain and instead of taking the 999 steps up, take the escalator up. Then come back down again. Or take the long cable car up and then find a way back the same way. But there is still quite a fair amount of walking. The glass walk can be by passed so no worries. I’m more concerned of the distance that needed to be covered.
@@gibbontravelogue Thanks for your prompt reply! Yes, we are likely to keep it just around the cave (taking the escalator) and the area near the cable car station.
