3:00 Caitlin had 1/5 of all flagrant fouls in the league!!! Out of 144 players! How is this not targeting? Yes the league is physical and Caitlin is a fairly physical player herself. But she’s getting flagrantly fouled over and over and a lot of those calls aren’t even being made. How many times was someone standing in her landing zone and it’s not called? That can cause serious injury if she lands on someone’s foot sideways. They are doing this on purpose.

So many so-so arguments in just a few minutes. Physical play? Sure. Targeting a player when their back is turned, calling her a "B" and aiming for their ribs...and without any discipline for it? NO! Intentionally...yes, absolutely intentionally, targeting someone and jabbing their eyeball....with not even a foul called. Without even a disciplinary interview with the player afterward? NO. Give me a break.
There are a lot of very good players in this league, and one brought in a ton of fans -- some new to the WNBA. I get your point, and you seem (legitimately) like a true fan. I'm a lifelong hoops fan who has watched the league sporadically since it started (I was excited at first due to players such as Swoopes, Staley, Leslie and Cooper), and motivated to watch it like never before due to CC's arrival.
Let's just say that she (with a little extra buzz from Angel Reese) have skyrocketed the league's visibility. This visibility has shined a light on a lot of good players, but unfortunately, it also has shined a light on so many endemic issues: horrible (mis)management, horrendous officiating, and toxic resentment from within. And I could see some of the resentment if Caitlin Clark was disrespectful, cocky, negative, etc...but she is the exact opposite! As humble and aware as any superstar athlete I've seen at her age.
While I won't say that she's saving the W, it is also true that you can't save someone/something that doesn't want to be saved. You can't elevate someone/something that doesn't want to be.

A question for Dan Patrick, since I know and respect him better than the others. I am one of those who has been both ignorant and apathetic about the WNBA until I very recently discovered Caitlin Clark. In spite of that, I had seen enough to know that it was highly "physical." You don't have to watch some of those brutes in the paint smashing into a shooter or climbing each other for a rebound to realize it's a "physical" game. It's one quality that failed to attract me as a fan. But what does Dan mean by "the physicality of the WNBA"? Is the WNBA typically "physical" to the point that one player routinely walks up during a dead ball and blind sides another player, knocking her to the floor, resulting in a crushing penalty of one free throw? Is that class of "physicality" standard fare for the WNBA? How about when one player pretends to make a block attempt but in the exaggerated follow-through fairly obviously guides her pointed fingers into the shooter's eyes? I'm not sure what foul was called in that case, if any. If that is what Dan means by "the physicality" of the WNBA, then he's right. As a clueless newcomer to WNBA, I was surprised by its level of "physicality." But I wouldn't call it "physicality." I would call it calculated and unrestrained brutality. And yes, although I've only watched her for a couple of weeks, I am among those who think it is obvious that they are indeed "zeroing in on our little Caitlin Clark." And what's more, the referees seem to be on in on it, or at least with no real attempt to restrain it.
Now, I suspect our little Caitlin Clark will be able to withstand the onslaught as long as the "physicality" of the thugs in the WNBA don't actually poke out an eye or cause a serious injury. But that will be no thanks to you and those who feel it their duty to serve as enablers for these malicious miscreants. And if our little Caitlin Clark ends up being seriously injured by what you characterize as simply 'the physicality of the WNBA," then it's partly on you as one of their enablers. Live with the risk of that possible outcome if you're comfortable with it. I, for one, will remember you for it.

It was the incoming class, the competitiveness of Reese and Clark, the media advancing their rivalry and women's basketball overall continuing to grow. I'm not surprised, the American media made it about Clark as will many Americans given the history of the nation but we've had plenty of tremendous talent in the league. This is more about the Clark vs Reese narrative which is why so many find themselves invested.
Thinkers see these things. Use your brain folks.

The WNBA wasn't ready to provide good officiating and use CC's fan appeal to boost their marketing? Clearly not. They could have easily put CC on the Olympic Team and used her star power to elevate all of their players. Instead, they constantly downplayed her while she consistently outplayed all of her peers. The WNBA was stupid and missed multiple opportunities to attract more new fans.

Biggest problem with the wnba is about 15% of the players are very good players, and maybe another 15% are adequate, the remaining 70% however are not very good. If their salaries go up in next year or two hopefully they can draw more Euro/Int'l players into the league, especially with wnba expanding by 3 teams in next 2 years.

I think the old guards are too oppressive regarding the CC effects. They're trying to paint new fans as bad while not protecting them from trolls. Established players are not supporting each other but rather bringing down those who are performing well and not being vocal about their appreciation to these rookies and new fans.

Heck there is a Certain Sky Player with a podcast who says She is the Star can't do a podcast without bringing CC up . Caitlin brought fans to the W and for now a ton are staying ,however they are only going to take being called names from the Media and the Players who have bunched them in with a group of trolls and Botts so long . lets be honest that WNBA series has to be the worst either team has ever played. One team did not even score almost the whole over time period. One of the games both teams went a whole 5 minutes without either team scoring. It was ugly. One player shot 1 for 19, common sense would tell the player today is not you day for shooting, so how about some lay laps. CC had to learn that and she got better because of it.

No, it is Caitlin Clark. She is basically the Taylor Swift of Basketball(yes basketball not woman basketball). And like RCA then, they lost the Golden Goose. And now the Woman's Basketball is about to loose their Golden Goose to the Euro world who sees the Person and the talent and the need to make sure the players are safe on and off court. So if history shows, Caitlin Clark has the potential to be the next Billionaire Basketball Star who cares about the Team, the players and the Fans and most important the Game.
Perhaps soon there will be a push for the Clarkies. And if one loves the Game, nobody is there cheering on who sleeping with who. So get over the labels and sit and watch and enjoy the Game.
