I weld, but I'm not a welder. With that in mind, why didn't you just weld it from the back side using the oval holes?

I didn’t think about it till you wrote it and as I think about it, it’s easier the film the way I did it haha 👊🏼☺️

I hope these insights will help you. The thickness and composition of the metals being welded matter for the settings. For technique A plunge into the thicker material and then pull or pool it together with the thinner one works best in a situation like that, also learn about flux and when to use it to trap out oxygen contamination, a good example there would be heating the back of the thin piece and dunking it in borax or another flux before clamping it, this would make the two pieces much easier to fuse.

"good enough" is never good, strive for perfection in everything you do. A piece of welding rod bent into a hook is better than this "good enough" weld.

Agree 100%. When I said good enough I meant for this hook and this small project. My goal is to one day get a mp welder, put my head down and really get into welding. 💪🏼☺️
