Iv had the honor of seeing him multiple times and meeting him even when his voice is tired he can still hits the notes. One night he had laryngitis and still hit c5s all night
The first time I saw this all those years ago, was "If this does not light your fire, your wood is wet!" I still find that to be true. Thanks you so much for reacting to this song. Merry Christmas!
Omg you did it!!! Thank you so very much😙 Too many people are unfamiliar with him. It thrilled me to see how he blessed you. I told ya he's freaking amazing. And anointed. God's all over that man. I had to pause 3 times to wipe my tears😃 He kills 4 or 5 octaves. I hit this in one second flat. It's also my favorite Christmas song ever. Girl there's a song he does called No More Night. It'll change your life. Merry CHRISTmas and God bless ❤🎄🕊
Thank you @kj robbi! I'm so happy that I discovered him through you! It is a shame that I've never heard of him, but he seems to be well known and he's winning awards for the talent God has given him, so that's great! I know you mentioned that other song... hopefully I'll get to check that out too!😁 Merry Christmas to you and yours!🎄🎁
@@Eowyn187 hey there fellow David fan, I have been a fan of the Gaithers ever since they started! David Phelps is one of my all time favourite singers, and has been right from the get go. I'm so glad you shared his phenomenal talent and anointing here. :-)
@@DLynn you might want to hear him sing: it is well with my soul, until then, the dream, there is a fountain, nessun dorma....he sings so many beautiful songs
David is the greatest tenor on earth. God gifted him with a unique voice & David has blessed us all with it..Thank you David, my Christian brother. The greatest version of this epic song ever.
"O Holy Night" is also David's favorite CHRISTmas song, he sings it every night on his CHRISTmas tour. Seeing him sing this live is beyond exceptional, his voice is pure and never fails.
7 year old Clair Crosby & her Dad just performed this. Her Mom played piano. Not as powerful as the one you just reacted to, but very sweet & moving! Love your reactions. Please don’t use your new way to get through reactions Too much. I enjoy your honest facial reactions as well as comments! Enjoy this Christmas Season!! 🎄🤶🏻
I've been watching reaction videos to this rendition by David. Hats off to you: You did research and brought context to the video as to who in the world David is! No other video has shown that. Bravo!
If you haven't already you really need to listen and react to David singing "No More Night" he will make you cry on that one. The other two that are a must is "Let Freedom Ring" when he sings with the Gaither Vocal Band, and last when he covers Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing "! He sings it in the same key and yes same octave and its just him, a cello and piano. Absolutely will blow your mind. He also sang it only a year ago, when he was 51 or 52. Please look those up, would love for you to react to them. Thanks
If you're still wanting Christmas music, I suggest Voctave w/Mark Lowry singing "Mary Did You Know". Mark and David sang together for years with the Gaither Vocal Band. Mark wrote the song as well. It's just breathtaking. And David Phelps is the best there is.
Mark Lowry, who has been a part of the Gaither vocal band along with David wrote "Mary did you know". So much talent. Even the Happy Goodman's who were part of the Gaither Homecoming were incredible and quite the characters into their 80s. "I believe he's coming back" is worth a listen. She waves her hankie and he points his cane to the music lol. So good.
My favorite Christmas song. He did a great job on it. I remember Andy Williams singing this on his Christmas specials & will always have a special place my heart with him & this song to me will always go together.
I'm happy that someone else loves O Holy Night! I have no idea why it's my fave, but it always tears me apart no matter who does it!😁 thank you for watching!😁
The Gaither Vocal Band is 5 guys now I think. Bill & Gloria Gaither are icons in the Southern Gospel world. They have written a ton of songs. Some are even in Hymnals. Bill & Gloria have done many Gaither Homecoming shows where they invite all the well known Gospel singers & that was the large group you saw get up & join in singing. David Phelps? He is my all time favorite male vocalist, 2nd to none as far as I’m concerned. Thank you for your reaction video. 😊
Thank you sweets. More David please... No More Night, The Dream, Just As I Am, Water. and so many more ! Please with sugar on top. He sings better live then anyone does in the studio
I saw this same video a few years ago-this man has some pipes and blew me away-this is also my favorite Christmas song- the best version of this song to me is by Celine Dion(1998)-- David Phelps is my favorite male version of this song--Merry Christmas D
I'm sure Celine's version would cause immediate tears for me! Thank you for watching this reaction! I'm very happy to have discovered David...his voice is amazing! And I really loved how expressive he was while singing! Merry Christmas to you as well!😁🎄
Hi D. Lynn!! I'm so glad you reacted to this!! David has such an AWESOME voice! I get emotional with a lot of songs he does. I'm not ashamed either. :) I'm not even started getting ready for next week. But then, I have to work Tues and Wed night next week so that sucks! Keep these amazing reactions coming. Merry Christmas and I'll catch you on your next one.
Hey @DiamondRioFan1! This was a great version of my favorite Christmas song! David is a wonderful performer and singer! I'm sorry you have to work (I do too☹). Hopefully you will get some time to spend with your family and friends, though!
I just listened to Claire Crosby and her dad David Crosby singing this with a small band and Mrs. Crosby playing piano. So sweet! I love hearing all the different people singing this at Christmas. I used to sing it every year. Besides "The Holy City," it's one of my favorites ever. :-D David Phelps is one of my favorite singers, and I LOVE how he puts his whole heart into this one (as he does with everything). Thanks for reacting and sharing, D.! Still have tears running down my face--no camera here, so that's OK--grin. Bless you!
I agree, G...David was getting into this, and I loved it! Amazing performance, and if course, showing emotion is great when a song strikes that certain chord in us. I just didn't want to fully do it. But I felt every word and it was good. I would probably enjoy anyone singing this. I think you need to record a version!😁 Love ya!
@@DLynn Maybe by next year my voice will be back more fully. I'm working on it all the time. It used to be so easy to sing, and I pretty much took it for granted, but 15 years without being able to has taken a very hard toll. It's like learning to walk all over again (which ironically was what it took to be able to sing again...lol).
Wow! That may very well be the best vocal performance I've heard in a very long time, maybe ever. That was simply incredible from a technical AND emotional standpoint. God bless and Merry Christmas!
Bill Gaither, the guy at the very end of the song, also wrote the song He Touched Me. That song was recorded by Elvis and was the only song, or album, that Elvis ever won an award for. I recommend David's version of Star Spangled Banner from his Legacy Of Love CD. A different version with a second verse and rhythm change in it. Powerful.
@ D. Lynn. I watched you closely as you were listening to this super powerful version of "Oh Holy Night" I watched you struggling to not cry. It affects me the same way. I would love for you to listen to David Phelps sing " "Let Freedom Ring". I think you will feel it just as much as you did this.

"No More Night" will make you cry. David Phelps nails it!
Crying shows you're a human being. I'm a grown ass man who literally shed tears watching this guy CRUSH this song. Just amazing!
Let all within us PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!!!!!! AMEN!!!
You should hear him live. His voice is so powerful live, it takes your breath away.

Iv had the honor of seeing him multiple times and meeting him even when his voice is tired he can still hits the notes. One night he had laryngitis and still hit c5s all night
I saw him live in 2000 when he was not very well known. He was incredible.
My eyes got wet for you. Love his singing and pianist does an incredible job.
Anthony Burger was a PHENOMENAL pianist! I was so sad when he passed in 2006. Truly a loss for the world!
Best male tenor...PERIOD!
I loved learning the background of the song and I always love watching others listen to David Phelps's voice for the first time.
