The HAGS tip is something I'd read in passing and completely forgot about. I've read it being responsible for a lot of stuttering in games like Dirt 2.0, so thanks for the reminder of this AJ. Very useful.
I can’t believe such a random feature could cause so many issues, lol. Thanks dude and man Dirt Rally is so amazing! There’s a couple more I look forward to trying too
Great run-through but I already have no time to play all my PSVR2 games... And I took the console psvr2 for the plug and play VR. Nevertheless, thank you!
Just an FYI, HAGS is required for advanced 4XXX Nvidia card features such as frame gen. That is most likely why Windows 11 has it enabled by default. So if you play other games with a 4XXX card, you probably want to re-enable HAGS for those. Just thought I would bring that up.
Man let me tell you have been so frustrated with the set up of this but this video is the best on step by step I actually managed to use it on flight simulator last night thank you .
Thank you mate. Been working with PC’s longer than I’d like to admit and there were a couple of things in here I’d forgotten over time.. appreciate your video! Informative, and you have a nice manner about you. Thanks for the help!
Hoooollyy! Thank you for this video! Just got my adapter and was bummed with Alyx hitching and warping making me motion sick. Your tips solved all of it. Perfect perf now. Appreciate the video!
They told me I only needed a small box, but now I learn I'm going to come out of my local electronics outlet wrapped in cables like an IT Christmas tree. I haven't missed all the extra steps PC gaming demands at times, but this should be worth it to answer all the "What if [x] was in VR?" questions. And I'm really happy to hear that the mods are working on the headset, as that wasn't guaranteed.
Amazing video man! You really cover all the essentials here in one place. I wish I found this a few days ago. That HAGS setting must have been what was causing my major issues, at least with Squadrons. It's totally night and day difference playing it before and after changing that setting. I get a solid 90 frames on ultra setting compared to a choppy 60 no matter what I did. I just set everything to high though to avoid the oddball blip into the 80's on ultra. I don't really see a visual difference anyway. Thanks for this!
Good video. I had the same experience with the antenna that was already on my PC. You got a like and a new sub. Oh and as Im still watching the video, the part where you said turn off the headset before rebooting. Many of us long time VR people coming from Valve Index or HTC Vibe in my case, when you close SteamVR it shuts down the headset and controllers. This PCVR2 headset does have that issue where it stays on it seems. Another good point you made.

I don't even remember where I ran across a random comment about HAGS but that was the last thing I tried and boom all stuttering was gone. I am now testing PSVR2 and it's the same deal. What sucks though is you have to turn HAGS back on if you want to play a PC game with frame generation so since I am playing Stalker 2 right now and also messing around in VR I am constantly turning it on and off and restarting each time I switch between games. But man did it feel good to finally figure out what the problem was. Also one last thing, for PSVR2, go into your device manager and look under display adapters. If you have any virtual desktops running disable those. I think that also has a negative effect on PSVR2 PC performance.
I just started using my psvr2 yesterday. Same boat, gigabyte 4090 gaming OC and the screen tearing and stutter was so bad. You saved me a lot of work I was just about to start tinkering with settings.

1st of all thanks for that tutVideo ;) It helps ma alot to setUp my psvr2 on PC, now I would like to try out the revice thing together with LoneEcho/LoneEcho II. It would be nice if you can do another video where you explain the revive/uevr thing a lil bit more :) Have a nice one my friend...
Awesome and very extensive video AJ 👌 I doubt I'll be getting a new gaming PC any time soon, but whenever I do, I'll definitely check your guide first 😻👍
20:17 thanks for this, man ✌️ I was having issues with screen warping, screen tearing, these recommendations helped! Would you consider doing a beginners tips video for getting into UEVR? I haven't touched the mod yet, but I want to jump in soon
on my 6700 non xt I turned off motion smoothing and immediately noticed a lot more jittering when sprinting in Blade & Sorcery. Turned it back on and that jittering was gone. So this might not be the best solution for everyone. So many great tips though man, thanks for the video!
Yeah I was thinking about mentioning that stuff like motion smoothing and repro and throttle might be useful in a desperate situation, but it just slipped by me.
Absolutely outstanding, exemplary work that has been done with this video and the guy from VR Untergrund!! Thank you so much! - Many others will have to be measured against this! Please keep up the good work! 💙👈😉👍
Just got my first ever PC, a 4090, which cost me 3.2K. All for the love of VR. Grabbed my adapter yesterday, and I couldn't think of a better place to come than here for my 'How to'. Commenting pre-watch, lol. Hoping in 30 minutes, I'm gonna be confident enough to get cracking with ETS, Elite, and some of the UEVR stuff. Come on AJ, I know you got our backs. 👊✌️❤️
I've watched and rewatched this video cause I keep missing or forgetting something [smooth brain], but at least it's good for the channel! 👊 23:10- The folks @FPSVR had their app on Steam for "free" forever and not long after PSVR2 is able to be PC compatible they started charging for it. Guess they wanted some of that SONY $$$ and at $4 a pop, I'm sure they've made a killing.
I'm thinking of getting a laptop just to do pc VR. I don't want a tower pc since I don't have the space. I might wait for the next gen of laptops and get a top end One, I do need a new pc so this would now be the perfect excuse to finally get one. I had a pc 10 years ago and I know how much of a headache pc can be so I will hold off for now while waiting for laptop technology to get better. Just having a laptop dedicated to pc VR would be a better way to go since my main gaming is done on ps5. That said someone at Sony said psvr2 is a big part of their plan so I think the management change at Sony has been a good thing and we will see big VR games come to psvr2 because of the pc stuff. I might wait for a year and jump into pc again.
Great video tons of great tips!!! I'm using the ASUS BT500 Bluetooth adapter and once and a while I will get a drop out after playing for a few hours but I'm not using an extension yet. Holding the PS buttons to reset them always brings them back so it's a minor inconvenience until I start with the multiplayer games.
thanks for the advice, have a hp victus laptop rtx4050 so hope it can run vr fine, just got the thing. not a pc guy so doing alot of learning and also making sure it goes smoothly when I get the adapter next month hopefully.
I was in the same boat, though I have a background in IT had to learn all this stuff from scratch basically since the beginning of the year, hopefully saves you some time! Thank you
my laptop with a 3070 started lagging heavily in the past months and I couldn't figure out why. I got a different headset and PC with a 4060ti and was having the same issues. so I figured it might be SteamVR. checked the settings. turns out the base resolution was set at over 3000 x 3000 per eye!!! got it down to PS2VR resolution and it runs perfectly now. if you're having latency issues I would recommend checking that out first!
Hi I’m trying to set up my psvr2 with my Lenovo loq 15 laptop, it has Bluetooth 5.1 on it. Do I still need a Bluetooth adaptor for my controllers to connect? My guess would be yes as the SteamVR app fails to track them while connected to the laptop and I get error code 109
My controller is messed up, it has very bad stick drift so im wondering if anyone knows for sure if you can use any other types of controller with the psvr2? Like the quest controllers or something because of the fact that sony doesnt sell them on their own which is ridiculous imo
Man i have a problem, i already plug everything back on, my app is crashing everytime i do something, and when i turn on my vr it says “updating firmware” i’ve spent two hours waiting for it. Idk what else to do, help 😢
Having briefly tested my main games going forward on pcvr, this video will be a nice aid to have for my final stretch. I'm about to be hauling a lot of goods across Europe, blasting music for the long and very lonesome road.
4090 here and I’ve had rough frame rates since getting the PSVR 2. The quest link was way better, I’ll try the HAGs fix. Mainly dirt rally 2, WRC & ACC.
You say you have a mid-tier pc. What are the specs of your GPU and CPU? I just bought Dirt Rally 2.0 on Steam, as it was very cheap. But I'd like to know what your graphical settings are for that game. I'm still trying to figure out what the best balance is between performance and graphical fidelity (I got a RTX 3060 OC 12GB). I'm noticing that if I set shaders to high, that's when slight stutter might creep up. Currently have set this to low (doesn't look as nice as on high ofcourse) and things like textures to high, but turned of stuff like god-rays and such. You said you can play games from the Meta Quest store? Can you also play games like Assassins Creed Nexus? Or Batman Arkham? Final question: what do you do with your Sense controllers, when you switch between PC and PS5? As it seems you have pair them again each time. Which especially in case of pairing it to the PS5, is troublesome, as you have to connect it with the usb-cable again. I'm guessing you also have the official charging station. So you know how bothersome it is to have to take out those charger pins each time.
My screen in the PSVR2 is reduced to a small horizontal band in the FOV, almost like its in big screen mode. Tracking and movement translates perfectly though. Anybody have any wisdom on this? Thanks for the amazing tutorial too man.
You need to update the drivers for the TP-Link UB500. After you do, supposedly it works great. Though it can have trouble if your PC is under your desk or a little ways from the play space.
I did update the the driver for it and had the same issue, just with the opposite hand, lol. Had the extension cable near me n everything too. I think it’s a software bug. Antenna has been the best tracking I’ve ever had, like ever. So other than for testing I won’t do anything else.
I'm not sure if I should really get this, I have a meta quest 2 and a vr game library that is almost 300 dollars, so I spent around 700-800 dollars on my vr setup, if I do get this I would also have to buy a decent pc setup probably around 1800 dollars worth of equipment, and even then if I do get the psvr2 I don't have a Playstation 5, and I don't want to get one either. And if I just use this for pc vr I'm not even getting the full psvr 2 experience, and then I have to buy the pc adapter and all that other stuff, in my opinion the main selling point for me is the foveated rendering, which is absent for the pc version. I want to get into pcvr but I don't want to use a meta headset, and this psvr2 would be my choice but the lack of the foveated rendering, hdr, eye tracking, and the controller haptics really makes me not want to buy this headset.
I'd love any help I could get, I'm so frustrated, and the Reddit wouldn't help me. I can get through most of the setup, until I need to enable passthrough to setup my playspace. The function button sorta works, but only during prompts. It won't enable passthrough, so with that, I can't set up a playspace. SteamVR runs, but I can't play many games, without a playspace set up. Whenever I try to do the playspace setup, it just leaves me in the SteamVR environment, and doesn't load in headset. I'm so frustrated, and sad because I was hoping to use this headset, after upgrading my PC recently. 😭 I have a AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, 64GB DDR5 RAM, and an RTX 4070 Ti. I've already made sure I have a DP 1.4 cable, and I checked to make sure it's plugged into a USB 3.0+ port. I'm at a loss and I'm tired, as I've spent 2 days now, trying to figure this out. 😓Thanks so much!
When I had a few issues with this part, it was 2 causes. 1. My controllers were losing BT connection after getting to this point, or 2. Uninstall, unplug and plug headset adapter everything back in, reboot, and start the setup with the PSVR2 OFF, and only turn it on once you get to the setup part that prompts to turn it on.
@@PSVRUNDERGROUND Sorry it took so long to reply! Bluetooth has been completely fine, in my experience. Controllers haven't lost tracking at all. It's just my passthrough won't enable for me to setup a playspace. :( What's even weirder, is I did some testing, and the passthrough works...but only when the PSVR2 App isn't running. The second I turn the app on, the passthrough stops working. I'm so unbelievably confused. I appreciate you taking the time to try and help me!
I didnt notice any performance issues between 90 and 120hz. Im running a 4070 super. The only issue i am having is after playing for awhile and switching games is that I have to restart steam VR because things start to get a little wonky with tracking. But that is usually after an hour or so.
Great video, a lot of nice useful tips here that I’ve missed with my own set up. I’ve just recently started playing Cyberpunk 2077 in VR via Luke Ross mod and it’s absolutely amazing (going to try uncharted 4 or horizon forbidden west next 😁). It’s nice you get so much choice with PSVR2 on PC but I do miss the seamless installation and plug and play nature with PSVR2 on PS5.
If I could have a do over, I would get at least an AMD 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4070 ti Super, 32GB, and much more than 1TB SSD. Next best GPUs are 4080 Super and 4090 is the boss.
You have a new subscriber, your VT was really good and i enjoyed it very much. Seeing as you are so honest, could you please give me (in a nutshell) how good you think the PSVR2 really is in comparison with the other well known HMD's out there? I hope you read this... TIA if you reply. Yours sincerely Drew (UK) 👍🤘
Hey Drew! Thanks so much 😊 Quest 3 and PSVR2 have their strengths and weaknesses, but both are awesome, so it comes down to personal preference really, and you can’t REALLY go wrong. For long time PlayStation gamers that have a PS5, PSVR2 is pretty great for the nice OLED screen, eye tracking, comfort, haptics and adaptive triggers. But for support and features Quest 3 is better, it’s great and easy to use and can do a lot more.
Hey! Nice and helpful video. But isn't the native PSVR2 resolution 2000 x 2040 pixel per eye? I've set my Steam setting to this value and it results in great performance and visual quality comparable to what I get with my PS5.
I picked up a desktop pc a few days ago, i might just stick with the steam games once i get it all set up UEVR is something i want to look at eventually but i have alot to learn.
Thanks! I started back in February not knowing anything about gaming PCs (though I do have a degree in Computer Information Systems, but PC gaming is much different!) I went kinda low risk and got AMD Ryzen 5 5600X and 4060 ti 8GB. The plus side to that is I had to learn how to squeeze everything I can out of it lol. When I eventually upgrade its game over.
Tried some of these but my first time with adapter didn’t go so well. Constant studdering in headset. Not sure if the display port cable I had and gaming laptop only has a mini port so getting a better cable. Then controllers being dropped from SteamVR even though still connected in Windows. Ugh.
After deactivating HAGS, it works, but now i have lower fps in normal games. Like 20-30 less (RTX4090). Disabeling this feature needs alway a restart of the computer, so a bit annoying.
Im having a simple problem, how do I press the pause button (or menu button) in PSVR2 on PCVR games like HL Alyx? The start button of the PSVR2 does nothing, only centralize the view.
7:48 The guide is overall very good, but this is bad advice. This setting should be only set per application, not globally. If you set it globally then your GPU will always run at highest clocks possible, even when idling in desktop, wasting power and heat. So this is contradicting what you are rightly advising aroun 9:50, to not use "Ultimate performance" outside gaming. Setting "perfer maximum performance" is similar to using "Ultimate performance" power profile at all time.
The HAGS tip is something I'd read in passing and completely forgot about. I've read it being responsible for a lot of stuttering in games like Dirt 2.0, so thanks for the reminder of this AJ. Very useful.

Thanks for the guide. i could not connect the left controller, but the antenna solved it.
Awesome to hear! So much better right? 😊
@@PSVRUNDERGROUND Played Alyx for 2 hours and had no problems at all, tracking was great
Awesome and very extensive video AJ 👌
I doubt I'll be getting a new gaming PC any time soon, but whenever I do, I'll definitely check your guide first 😻👍
Thanks homie, looking forward to tinkering with Metal Gear Solid Delta in UEVR 😎
20:17 thanks for this, man ✌️ I was having issues with screen warping, screen tearing, these recommendations helped!
Would you consider doing a beginners tips video for getting into UEVR? I haven't touched the mod yet, but I want to jump in soon
Gonna work on it this weekend 😊
@@PSVRUNDERGROUND not all heroes wear capes... some wear beanies 🙏
Very helpful, thank you!
on my 6700 non xt I turned off motion smoothing and immediately noticed a lot more jittering when sprinting in Blade & Sorcery. Turned it back on and that jittering was gone. So this might not be the best solution for everyone. So many great tips though man, thanks for the video!
Yeah I was thinking about mentioning that stuff like motion smoothing and repro and throttle might be useful in a desperate situation, but it just slipped by me.
I turned off motion smoothing in HLA and found that it ran much worse for me and looks like 30 fps so I turned it back on and it is great again.
Thanks for such a thorough tutorial! I can imagine Brian having nightmares watching this 😂😂
works perfectly with 1.2 dp cable :)
Absolutely outstanding, exemplary work that has been done with this video and the guy from VR Untergrund!!
Thank you so much! - Many others will have to be measured against this! Please keep up the good work! 💙👈😉👍
Thank you 🔥👊🏻🔥
Props for the 68% native resolution setting. I don't know why but Sony or Steam decided that the default 100% is 170% supersampling.
Good job AJ!
23:10- The folks @FPSVR had their app on Steam for "free" forever and not long after PSVR2 is able to be PC compatible they started charging for it. Guess they wanted some of that SONY $$$ and at $4 a pop, I'm sure they've made a killing.
Very helpful! Thanks for Sharing!
Great to hear, thank you 😊🔥👊🏻🔥
I'm thinking of getting a laptop just to do pc VR.
Laptops are actually crazy amazing now. MSI will break your wallet, but they are basically high end gaming PCs in a laptop frame.
@@ThatRandomFastingGuy I am using a MSI Katana 17 with I9/RTX4070/64GB Ram and it works great for PS VR2.
Thank for this AJ . Really helpfull
Thanks homie, should be testing the Asus one with the extension soon!
@@PSVRUNDERGROUND Keyword Yet. Hahaha. Gonna buy one soon since they're cheap enough
thanks for the advice, have a hp victus laptop rtx4050 so hope it can run vr fine, just got the thing. not a pc guy so doing alot of learning and also making sure it goes smoothly when I get the adapter next month hopefully.
I was in the same boat, though I have a background in IT had to learn all this stuff from scratch basically since the beginning of the year, hopefully saves you some time! Thank you
Best tutorial I found !
What graphics card do you have ?
Thanks! At the time of this video, was using a 4060ti 8GB
@PSVRUNDERGROUND Thanks for your answer, looks like I'm a but struggling with the rtx3050 😒
Bit*
my laptop with a 3070 started lagging heavily in the past months and I couldn't figure out why.
A friend of mine had the perfect 4.0. :)
Thx you helped me alot
Man i have a problem, i already plug everything back on, my app is crashing everytime i do something, and when i turn on my vr it says “updating firmware” i’ve spent two hours waiting for it. Idk what else to do, help 😢
Having briefly tested my main games going forward on pcvr, this video will be a nice aid to have for my final stretch.
I'm about to be hauling a lot of goods across Europe, blasting music for the long and very lonesome road.
Amazing video!
Thank you HLN 😊
I had to turn off HAGS to get the PSVR2 app to launch, thanks 👍
Thanks for the tips. Now just need to get the adapter back in stock so I can get it.
4090 here and I’ve had rough frame rates since getting the PSVR 2. The quest link was way better, I’ll try the HAGs fix.
Mainly dirt rally 2, WRC & ACC.
Fantastic video, very helpfull thank you
Glad it helped, thanks for watching!
So other than for testing I won’t do anything else.
nice guide m8
At the very least, I would just get a PC for your quest 2. It’s a very good PCVR headset imo.
For sure, but the tinkering grows on you, especially when you figure things out.
What processor/GPU/RAM do you recommend for someone thinking about getting a PC for VR gaming
If I could have a do over, I would get at least an AMD 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4070 ti Super, 32GB, and much more than 1TB SSD. Next best GPUs are 4080 Super and 4090 is the boss.
Having HAGS enabled made oculus link super stuttery for me, no doubt disabling it will be good when i get psvr 2 lol
Hello my friend nice video... I have only high performance on power plan. How I can make to appear the option ultimate performance?
Love the psvr2 on pc,
You have a new subscriber, your VT was really good and i enjoyed it very much.
Seeing as you are so honest, could you please give me (in a nutshell) how good you think the PSVR2 really is in comparison with the other well known HMD's out there?
I hope you read this...
TIA if you reply.
Yours sincerely
Drew (UK) 👍🤘
@@CORNERSTONECITY777 congrats man! I have a UEVR how to/tips video coming soon 😊
Just a quick question. Can you use regular apps like chrome, or media player not in the steam library?
Nice! awesome work on your research and VID!! I'm curious what your pc build is, which components do you use?
Have you tried Body Cam in Flat2VR injector thingy me bob? I really wanna play it lol
How about using PSVR2 on PC and PS5 back and forth? Does the controller set support multi-paring? I hate binding process everytime I switch console.
I’ve only swapped it once, but no multi pairing. Had to sync to PS5 and then to PC before using.
Tried some of these but my first time with adapter didn’t go so well. Constant studdering in headset. Not sure if the display port cable I had and gaming laptop only has a mini port so getting a better cable. Then controllers being dropped from SteamVR even though still connected in Windows. Ugh.
New freamware update headset . :)
