    Like this comment if Rugby should bring back the classic 1980's fixture: England & Wales v Scotland & Ireland

    • @RossoVerdeNero
      @RossoVerdeNero 14 часов назад +2

      One of those fixtures just made the 80's (1980). One was at the end of the 50's, the other three were in the 70's, the best of which was when the GOAT Mike Gibson scored a hat-trick of tries. But yes, I'd love to see how many the combined Ire/Sco team could rack up...

      When he became Ireland coach they started to throw it about more than they had done for the previous 15-20 years. But since then Garland seems to have settled on a very attritional game where carrying onto the teeth of defences in an attempt to overpower your opponents was the goal. “Cement ball” was what it was called. The ball looked like a 4” concrete block being passed to the next guy to smash it up.

      Sorry, but where is Hugo Keenan? Arguably the best and most consistent FB in the past 3-4 years?

    • @thenordicescape
      @thenordicescape 4 часа назад

      @@chihangho5377 I think he is a fantastic player, however a couple of reasons why I didn't pick him.
      1. Blair Kinghorn covers wing, fullback, centre & out half (has played all these positions professionally) and has been arguably the inform player for Toulouse, winning the European Cup. He is also a Goalkicker, which provides cover if Russell, Farrell or Smith is injured or having an off day.
      2. Freddie Stewart covers Fullback, Wing and even possibly centre (he is a huge man, so should fit in seamlessly). He is solid under the high ball, and provides a ball carrying threat, that Keenan does not (due to his size)
      3. I would swap out Graham or possibly ring rose for Keenan, but then you lose out somewhere else. Graham provides something different from all the other wingers (DVM, Lowe, Hansen) who are all big men, and great ball carrying ability. What they all lack is out and out speed and agility that Graham has. So I think its important to have a varied player pool to pick from. Putting Keenan in his place would mean losing out on the spark Graham can provide.
      4. Lastly by taking out Ringrose, you lose possibly your best defender in the centres, and also a centre which provides something different from all other centres, by being a better reader of the game, better pace and an ability to play on the wing, 12 & 13 if needed, which Aki and Tuipulotu do not posses.
