"No" - Rosa Parks

I'm so proud of my people. This boycott is not recognized as much as it should be for being one of the greatest examples of how people can change a system by refusing to be a part of it. Black people you are amazing.
🤝🙌🙌🙌
totally! it's all about the people👌
Im going to hold a presentation about that!!
As I read this I am tearing up.
So true!

Thank you to all our leaders past and present who continue to pave the way for our rights and our living.

I’m emotional. I love watching and learning about civil disobedience for the greater good. Rest in Power, King, Parks and Miss Robinson. Everyone who passed with dignity fighting for their rights.
I am doing a project on Rosa Parks and I really like this

It took 382 days, with almost the entire African-American population of Montgomery, Alabama, to make a GRAND CHANGE for all Americans, which we celebrate today, how many days would people of today take to make a GRAND CHANGE
We MUST be taught our history…no matter what country you come from or your race! We can learn from each other and we can be better 💕
Wish they had mentioned Georgia Gilmore and the club from nowhere that pretty much self funded that boycott and kept it going. God bless her and those women!!
John Daniel where can I find out more about that?
Yea
this is why people need to unionize more
I'm so frustrated that this isn't captioned! I really wanted to share this with my deaf students but it isn't accessible.
I am willing to transcribe for you
Mobilise Organize That would be so helpful! I’m no longer teaching that class but I would share the resource with teachers.
Mason Kahler I do-I use it every day to teach deaf children. But captions are needed to access this video. :)
How do I send the final copy?

One thing I wasn't taught at school - I had to go learn it for myself - is that there was a similar bus boycott in Bristol (England) during 1963. In 1955, the Bristol Omnibus Company issued a colour bar to prevent the employment of black or south Asian drivers/conductors on their buses. It did cause racial tensions & riots in the city until 1963. The boycott lasted for 4 months until the colour bar was finally lifted on the day of Dr. King's "I Have A Dream" speech in Washington on 28th August 1963. ✨
This boycott led directly two years later to the passage of the Race Relations Act in 1965, the first major piece of UK legislation outlawing overt racial discrimination in public places. 😍
Civic action and disobedience in the right place, at the right time, can make ALL the difference in the world. 🎊
Can anyone tell me where I can find the song used around 2:29? The Shazam app says "Pearly Gates" by The Reverand Horatio Duncan & Amos Sweets but I can't find the song on Spotify, RUclips or anywhere else
Very informative; thanks. Because of my historical fore-parents, I am.
🥰
Great video! :)
Why do you never offer captions for your videos?
Awesome!!!!
I am so sorry that this happened
using this to make a speech about racism at my school❤❤
What is the song called that plays in this video? The one that goes “we’re all walking to the same place”
I got so much to learn
You will, just start your research. You've started here, continue your search.
people all over the world from all walks of life struggled for justice and equality. the only document that gave equal rights to all was usa constitution. though it was not fully implemented untill the civil rights movement in 1960s.
Jesus Christ attempted to do same
I read about in book "the power of Habit"
same book led me here as well
Watching this video makes me feel good.
Me too
@Peter Postema ?
It’s crazy because when I was at school only the cool kids were allowed to sit at the back of the bus , best seats u can get in my opinion , they errr actually privileged
Jo Ann Robinson didn't propose the bill bc of Rosa Parks, she did it for a young black lady by the name of Claudette Colvin. Rosa Park's was secretary of that NAACP chapter and they figured she be a "better face" for the boycott considering Colvin was of darker skin and pregnant out of wedlock...do better history channel
Can someone help me find the name of the song heard at 2:28?
my teacher said 381

@@HoneybeeSolstice so we all came from class ? 😳
what is the background music?
Segregation never was the law of the land. It was a violation of the law of the land, the Constitution.
and there were 381 days not 382* :)
What’s good gamers
yes, i love and respect the sacrifices of colour people to achieve equality. the dark colour people suffered all over the world. even in idian when arys ivaded india they conquered dark skin people, killed most of them, grabbed their lands, subjugated them and branded them into untouchables.
Ew why are you British
I understand that their were other black woman that refused their seat to white people. I think all those woman should be recognized for their deeds. I am also proud of my people for making a stand against a crazy system.
Claudette Colvin was the actual young lady that this boycott is based on. Parks was picked to be the face of it bc colvin was dark-skinned, young and pregnant out of wedlock.
I feel like most people are either doing a project or are 5 year olds
nah i just have to answer questions for class 🙄🤚
my project is gonna be gud thx
hello
so they beleaved that if they didn't ride the public busses the people would noice them? and that they created their own busses and rules? (the buss boycot) i'm a little confused here thanks if you have time to explain to me
They stopped riding the bus because it made a grand effect on how much money the bus company was making. The company lost a lot of money because of the boycott so they had to make changes to discrimination on the bus
Yay!!! Finally get to sit up front and get to the scene of the wreck first 🤔.. congratulations... Now dream about being rich and getting a driver so you can sit in the back. Sounds like nothing, as long as you get where you're going. We fought for the back seat on the school bus. Were all the cool kids sit
thx to all black people I'm black
She Brave
Question: why did Alabama have that law forcing blacks in the back of the bus??
….. Is it because of lack of air conditioning; and the hot humidity along with lack of education or money made for a awful smelly experience.
can I get an Amen???
Yeah, when u start going to church! lol

I'm only watching this because I have to for school. Blacks can do whatever they want I don't care.

I do hope that as you go through life your experiences spark a sense of connectedness increasing your ability to see/ notice the truths of reality and your strength to let yourself care about everything /everyone :-)
At one time that wasn't true. Black people were treated very badly.
Well I'm glad you were assigned this assignment.

I didn't see you write this so you can't be real

@Ms.J J you’re so right
but i would like to see a documentary by colour peopel that tells the story of white people that sacrificed 620,000 of their men to end slavery.
Your English is terrible.
Well since that didn't happen I don't think you'll see it. But you could make one about the thousands, maybe millions of slaves that perished over the hundreds of years that slavery was legal in this country, both on the ships that brought them here and by the hands of their cruel masters. Or is that too much truth for you to handle ?:
