8:20 I wonder if Osa placed her shield just as the thorn grenade exploded, the damage is blocked considering her feet are exposed when carrying it. Definitely need to test this out.
Osa shields do block thorn shrapnel as its not an explosive. I remember watching a mythbusting video when Osa came out and they confirmed it then.
It doesn’t matter. Any shield operators you’ll use, except for Blackbeard, will take damage reduction from the razorbloom shells. They aren’t immune.
Given that Macie still has EMP impact grenades he should’ve use all of it, expecting any electronic traps behind that deployable shield.
@@chalexen2862not like he could’ve known there was a Thorn on the defender’s team. His team may have been able to warn him about Thorn traps, but I don’t think I seen them did it once. Especially the person who eliminated Thorn.
True. However, from what I can tell from the team scores and the attacker’s team composition it implies that they’ve kept bringing entry fraggers to the point were it provoked defenders into bringing traps. It’s the same scenario I’ve encountered when I kept bringing Blitz every round.
Lesion and Frost presented above were basically the only hints.

As someone who used to play “proper siege” I miss it so much! Haven’t played it in a few months
they can literally reduce movement speed a bit below walking speed while ads and it will fix all the cod problems instantly

I can hear the disdain in your voice when you say (implicitly and explicitly) nobody plays Siege at its full potential and treat it just like an arcade shooter, when it is so much deeper than that. Really appreciate these top tier siege videos, I actually learn a lot of like how to hold angles and different ways to push from your videos, obviously I don’t copy thing from thing but I try to add it into my own gameplay! You’re IMO the best siege content creator

been watching you since around 2016-2017, i'm just returning to siege after not playing since 2019 and it's genuinely insane how much different the game is now. i took a very long break from all things siege, including content as well, and coming back to it now is just.. so jarring. i was a high plat/mid diamond player in original siege, and the last thing you said about it feeling like tdm is spot on.
there's no more post-plant team set-ups, there's no true coordination in operators being picked, it just feels like a more "tactical" overwatch at this point. the amount of rounds i've won since returning simply out of being the last person alive and holding a BASIC ass angle is insane. all in all, i love your content macie, you're the content creator i've always enjoyed watching in siege - maybe kix gives you a run for your money :') #BringBackOpHealthSiege
It's funny you put bring back op health Siege because that was the operation I made diamond in back in the day lol the other thing that is killing siege is xim at least on console since I played on Xbox. Can't back this past season and didn't do too bad, tactical siege still works fairly well but I'm airways forced to play hard breacher since no one else does but if I don't see anyone that can get mute, bandit or kaid I'll switch to capitao and breach an off angle only to have a good plant spot totally wasted since it's now team death match

@@sahdaddy1959 it's rough bro, my buddy's quit playing surge again because of it. We got to plat pretty easily and then we were just running into xims damn near every match it felt like. There was no shame either, or suspicions were anyways confirmed with the crouch spam that is very obviously only done with mnk
I agree. I dont quite know when but the game changed from a semi-tatical shooter with atleast some level of realism to a more generic feeling hero shooter-esque game with cops instead of super heroes, perhaps it was around the time they started adding those no risk, one click abilities(Finka, Lion, Etc). Those elements that made Siege unique are just a shell of what they use to be.

I barely even play the game, but i still watch Macie because he plays the game the way it was meant to be played. TDM is boring. Every game is TDM. This was supposed to be different, but people are so simple that "proper siege" is too hard for them

I remember old Siege where every single person on defense just stayed on site and no one roamed at all and just hid there waiting.
Just got back into the game after a few years off and I get the “proper siege frustration”. I’m an Xbox player so I could only imagine how much of a tdm fest ranked on pc is. Funny enough, in a lot of casual lobbies on Xbox, it’s so nostalgic seeing everyone on attack slowly sweeping the building and moving together lol. It’s not every match but I love playing like that even if it’s not the most effective
it is the most effective literally everyone roams u can get a couple picks just from actively sweeping rooms of roamers

I returned to siege some weeks ago I'm currently silver II and I hate it. It's absolute mayhem, no one tries to plant, no one is patient when at a numerous advantage, no one holds their ground. They're always trying to frag and hunt down everyone, it's definitely like a deathmatch...

I believe a big factor as to why there is no ¨proper¨ siege anymore is because allot of traps like Kapkan etc that forces you to slow down is either not as lethal anymore or its just way too easy to get rid of them using the EMP grenades or other means to disable or destroy them, which makes you lean towards a rush mentality instead of taking it at a slower pace to really investigate the area and then clearing it to avoid destroying yourself. And my own thoughts for the defenders is that they don't feel like they are at a disadvantage when they roam and hunt attackers instead of defending their objectives which i contribute to Solis most heavily but not exclusively. There is definitely much more to this but its how i view it.

coming from someone who started during Black Ice and quitting after Flores got added I 10000% get what you mean by proper siege. Started to play again (1 month in) I find it so weird how this current meta is with everyone blood thirsty and playing for themselves instead of the objective/team.
Macie, your idea of "proper" siege is correct. One of the reason i dont play anymore(only when i have a full squad of friends to play) is that everyone treats the game like its a run and gun TDM. I miss the old siege.

he heard it thats why he took his drone to check garage, he had to stop the plant before dealing with kali. you can see he didn’t want his drone to get shot in garage so he moved it down the hallway instead
Genuine Question, how would Ubisoft fix this? Nerf all the guns? Make all attackers 1/2 speed?
Incentivise tactical play, bring back the proper stun effect from concussion type effects like breach charge detonation. Weaken gunplay by removing OSHS from all but dmr/sniper types and giving a damage bonus to all others instead (if any), bring back a lot of the smoke left from explosions from early siege to decrease battlefield visibility, bring back the "almost blinding sunlight flooding in through windows" to counteract spawnpeeks and defender angle holding (i.e. add a dynamic sunlight effect on defenders looking outside, making it harder to hold the long range angles). Add a recoil penalty when moving to disincentive run and gun on automatic weapons to reduce the incentive to always swing and decrease the effectiveness of peekers advantage. Add a proximity based scan warning if an opponent gets yellow pinged to equalize otherwise unrealistic wall bang lineups. Revert to old 1.0 or 2.5x scope options to reintroduce actual pros and cons instead of the best of both worlds 1.5 (outside of special scopes ofc). Change bulletproof to bullet resistant, allowing gadgets to eventually break under enough fire and giving attackers more to waste their ammo on and less incentive to bring a gonne/gadget clearing that often is used in rushes.implement aimjerk when flashed proportional to stun magnitude when flashed, i.e. your aim will jerk away from the flash instinctively. Increase stun when hit coming out of shield by 2 frames, especially after a charged smash attack, decrease Doc's jab stun to remove jab lock combos, add a vaccine to cure yourself if you get bitten, so on, so forth.
Tuning down 1.5x scope is a good option in the short term. changing speed and guns will just make the game not fun....
Old siege was way darker, had night maps, more smokes while destroying things or using gadgets, debris and dead bodies stayed on the ground. All of this gave an overwhelming amount of information for a player to process and i think slowed down tha gameplay quite a bit.
Today, none of this exists anymore or was changed to be clearer and bright. hiding spots are patched every now and then and players now have this bright aura that makes hiding even harder
I think all this changes to the game in the name of quality of life had a big impact on the tdm meta, not requiring you to be cautious. On top of this, the matchmaking sucks and ranked 2.0 sucks
They have to make run and gun less viable, if blindly running around with Warden works then people will keep doing it.
Ubisoft seems to think adding recoil to every good gun is the best solution, but crazy recoils only make the game less fun, Ela and Twitch being a prime example considering they went from god tier to balanced, but is just no fun to play anymore. I think it would be better to just change the current headshot damage multiplier from 50x to 2x.
Since every headshot is an instakill the guns with low recoil and high rate of fire have a massive advantage, so of course defenders force direct gunfights and have a much higher win rate. Changing the HS multiplier would favor the guns with higher damage per second rather than rate of fire, which means attackers would have the advantage in direct gunfights instead, as they should.
This would then force defenders to mold the map into their favor and use their utility to play those power positions in order to have an advantage over the attack. The attackers would then be forced to try to dismantle those advantages with their own utility, thus creating the true R6 experience.
I know one shot headshot has been in the game since the start and I genuinely use to love it but gunplay has changed so drastically over the years making it easier to hit heads than ever before. We use to have recoil misalignment, bad lighting, no 1.5x scope, operator camouflage blending into walls, faster movement, and a whole laundry list of changes that has made gunplay easier. Now I'm not saying those specific changes were bad for the game, they were fantastic actually and much needed but it had an unfortunate consequence. It made made target acquisition and gunplay as a whole significantly easier, lessening the importance of all the other tools that we once needed to reliably win our gunfights.

Your idea of 'proper siege' is correct. People are just lazy. It's so much easier to just turn your brain off and run in than think methodically about how you will make your next few steps.

I think the oversaturation of new operators has overwhelmed people in terms of strategy and how to use them. It's starting to have the roster size of your average MOBA, and newcomers probably feel overwhelmed with the choices, so the meta may have just casually devolved into straight up FPS.
People who have been playing longer, from the get-go, still default to using strategy, and using operators as intended, but I've found that in my lower rank, people just rush in looking for kills, without even droning out, or even getting a chance to use their gadgets.

The thing that gets me is everyone picking people for there guns rather than there ability. Certain objectives on certain maps require certain operators with certain strategies, but no my teammates insta lock warden, mozzie, thorn and doc.
I want go back to time when RB6S start and has few operators and was much simpler then now. I loved Bandit trick on walls and no skins. Old good time
