Hey man, I'm part of the Snaky Lore Investigation team and wanted to extend our thanks for the segment in the video. It continues to amaze us how INSANELY explosive F-Zero lore has gotten over the years, especially when it comes to digging old content up. I even refer to it as 'F-Zero lore archaelogy' nowadays just in that everything is so hidden away, vague, and up for interpretation left and right. Ecstatic to see videos like this sharing our passion in a fun, non-tl;dr manner.
Besides James McCloud, John Tanaka is another character that is shared between F-Zero and Star Fox. John Tanaka is the cretor of the G-diffuser system that allows the pilots to go at ridiculous high speeds without feeling any effects from the G-forces. The F-Zero machines and the star Fox's Arwings both use the G-Diffusers.
10:42 "Phoenix is just one confirmed time traveler" OBJECTION! It says in QQQs pilot profile that it's AI is from the 29th century, stating: "In its time period of the 29th century, the robot's construction was considered obsolete. However, its AI is considerably advanced for any time period before the 29th century, and especially so in the 27th century." And "QQQ was brought from the future by Phoenix and has the necessary navigation hardware needed to traverse time. However if its AI is not repaired (thereby restoring its memory), it will never be able to return to the future" not only confirming that it's a time traveler, but also implying that Phoenix needs QQQ in order to time travel.
Hey man, I'm one of the guys who conducted the Snaky Lore Investigation. Thanks for the Shoutout. BTW, I have an elaboration on the Afterlife/Hell mistranslation. We have confirmation that Deathborn/Blood Falcon use the word "裏世界 = urasekai = the back world / the underworld" Basically Unlawful The Skull uses the word "あの世 = ano yo = the beyond / the afterlife" Basically this means the "place you go when you die." Black Shadow uses the word “地獄 (jigoku)” = Hell. Basically "bad place you go when you die" or “common usage"of the term. This was discovered LITERALLY last year. It was kept hidden from us because the guy who translated the Skull's dialogue rendered the word "あの世 (ano yo)" as "Netherworld" in EVERY CASE except that one time where it was rendered "Underworld" For that reason it took 17 years for us to crack it.
Both you and Siontix, claiming to be one of the guys who conducted the Snaky Lore Investigation, begin your comment with "Hey man," and format the phrase "Snaky Lore Investigation" the same. I recently read a scifi novel where an AI masquerading as various people gives itself away by greeting humans with "My man". I'm suspecting that an unintended AI is behind the Snaky Lore Investigation.
You forgot to mention that Octoman appears in Star Fox Command under the shared characters entry. Also could've mentioned how infamously hard GX's story mode is. Either way though you did a good job going over everything and the chart doesn't have a entry that's too stupid or egregiously missing, so one of the better and more underrated of these videos.
I didn't see this one coming. I am glad F-Zero has an iceberg since there is a lot of things in the series that can be mysterious but that is probably because the series is sadly neglected and the lore is pretty hidden. I am also surprised there is a video about an F-Zero iceberg but there is no video about a Smash Bros iceberg.
Falcon Legend's English dub renamed the series to GP Legend. It was also censored and didn't even dub the entire series, because 4Kids. The GBA game was also called Falcon Densetsu in Japan, but its western release changed the title to match the anime's English dub
Just to clarify the F-Zero is F1 but faster one: the governing body for Formula 1, the FIA, has multiple levels of racing ranked by experience/skill level and car speed, starting with Formula 4, then going to F3 and F2, with F1 being the highest. So theoretically a higher level of F1 would be F0. F-Zero also has another F1 reference, with Port Town 1 and 2 from the SNES game being based on Suzuka Circuit, the track that hosts the Japanese GP each year.
I guess that the anime (12:55) is nodded within Smash with the deep blue color alt on Smash starting on the Sm4sh for Captain Falcon. Ah, (21:56) Fire Field IS the main description of massive greed and late stage capitalism. The planet was turned into that field of fire and lava after a mining prospect went too deep and shattered the core that rendered the planet inhabitable. And I'm surprised that Mute City was replaced by Bianca City and Synobazz on MV; so maybe the Great Accident of SNES F-Zero happened and between original and X happened MV
Formula cars go up to Formula 4. The higher the number the less capable the vehicle. People start with Go-Karts and work their way up to F-1 cars. But yes, F-Zero is to imply they’re advanced F-1 cars.
What’s odd about the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure entry on this chart is that F Mega essentially handed the idea of the spin attack to Nintendo because that chapter was written years before F Zero X
The info about Kent Akechi being Falcon's son was actually a Nintendo Power thing. The japanese manual for F-Zero Maximum Velocity has it that according to Kent himself, he inherited the blood of Captain Falcon, but nobody knows for sure. Note that there are no mention of family ties, just the kanji writing for "blood" to define the connection between them. A lot of things can be interpreted from this. As for the unsourced wiki rumors... Let's just say that the previous F-Zero Wiki was a mess to say the least. Not only did it take the Snaky Lore descriptions as canon, but some of the entries were questionable too (like, there was an entry for Samus Aran, even though she has nothing to do in the series). Thankfully, the F-Zero Facts wiki has worked a lot to rectify the whole mess and even has separate pages for each pilot in their respective canons (pilots from the games and their Anime incarnations). There's a lot more to the lore of F-Zero than what the iceberg suggests, especially since some infos have come to the F-Zero community's ears after your video was made. Speaking of, props on making one !
I've seen a little more to go on the 'GX story mode is a movie' There's a theory that the entirety of F-Zero is more akin to Pro Wrestling. It's ALL an act. we're talking heroes and villains allowed to just walk about and race in this world? Kind of like heroes and villains in Pro wrestling. Heck, Don Genie is basically a standin for Vince McMahon
F-Zero AX, GP Legend, and Maximum Velocity all have some really cool side-characters that I wish people talked about more often. If they ever make another game, characters like Princia Ramode and Berserker would be really great to see again, if not base game then at least DLC.
I didn't like some of the ideas the franchise did like the inconsistency with the lore, ages, continuity, etc. That was why I decided to combine the 2 timelines into 1, with GP Legend after GX. Also it's Ryu Su-Zok-u. You can see my own timeline on other domains, as well as Top 10 Strengths/Flaws for GP Legend. And I DO use Falcon as Douglas Jay, and Ryu decided to take the mantle out of honor; to me it shouldn't be a title. I wish the next game if any would resolve these issues.
I can’t believe it’s already been a year since this was uploaded. I love this iceberg. It really got me involved with the world of F-Zero in a way I didn’t think existed. Thank you.
Very nice! Makes me appreciate the narrative potential this series really has. Too bad Nintendo isn't generally big on story in their games. Questions like what the futuristic society is like, who the shady, rich elites who run the F-Zero races are, why the law enforcement can't stop literal criminals and supervillains from competing publicly, and what the heck is going on with the "underworld" would be really cool to get answers to. Then again perhaps straight answers aren't as interesting as speculation. But y'know, still.
Wait, the anime isn't considered "main" lore? But it's the most complete and logical story we have for the series/universe. GP Legend adapted it and Climax was completely based off it as the game included the new ships and characters
Sure, but it overwrites a lot of foundational lore about the games spanning from 1990 to 2003. For example, F-MAX was in the 24th century, and F-ZERO began in the 26th century. In the anime, F-ZERO is happening in 2201. It's like, in the late '90s, the Pokemon anime might've had more lore than the Pokemon games, but that didn't mean it should supersede the internal logic of the games.
@@coreyander286 Oh, I wasn't aware of the retconned timeline then it makes sense to think of it as an alternate universe. And come to think of it the comparison with Pokemon is quite fair.
Ive always wondered... Why doesnt nintendo make a game about bounty hunting in space, like Starfox Assault meets Wing Commander Privateer kinda? You play as the Starfox Team but eventually you run across Falcon and Samus Aran... maybe could even play as Star Wolf or some such
I would love to to see more F-Zero games in the future, even though that's wishful thinking; and, I love to see how people interpret the ambiguous lore of this series. Also, I do think there's a possibility that F-Zero and Star Fox might be connected, somehow.
Kinda thought this series was just "haha dangerous racing" but now it being this hyper-capitalist hellhole where people have to race in order to live just elevates it for me even more.
Another thing that might prove that Pico is a space turtle is that in his spirit battle in Smash Ultimate his puppet fighter is Bowser Bowser may not be a turtle but he is a Koopa and Koopas are extremely similar to turtles
This iceberg barely scratches the surface here are a few things it was missing. Just off the top of my head: Machine Stats in GX are lies (kind of), Blood Hawk is the best machine in X but the second worst in GX, Black Bull is the worst machine in X but second best in X, Phantom Road is Rainbow Road, Delay Lama is used in 2 F-zero GX pilot themes; Baba and The Skull, Companies that are commissioned to produce a new F-zero game are cursed to go under post release, James McCloud faked his death to become an F-zero Pilot, Dark Schneider has 15x the drag force on it compared to the other machines, Mad Wolf has smell based user feed back, GX has an E3 cup, Port Town Aero Dive was likely chosen for Brawl as the F-zero stage because of it's early completion in F-zero GX's development.
What if F-zero Universe is actually kind of like Wrestling where the racers of this race play fictional persona's like modern Wrestling to make things more exciting with audience and GX story mode is just a in-universe promo?
I don't believe this video mentioned the F-Zero light novel released in Japan, the title awkwardly yet beautifully translated as "And Then, to the Gods of Speed". If you look at the illustrations, it's this much more dignified, less goofy interpretation of the F-Zero world than the games, manual comic, and anime. Just in case Metal Socks wants to do a director's cut of this video or addendum or something.
I actually did come across the light novel when I was looking up almost everything F-Zero, but alus it wasn't even included in the ice berg so I guess I didn't had an obligation. "Canon is up to the viewer"..eehhh no. Thats what 'head canon' is for and theories. Admittedly, in a game with F-Zeros history, sure, canon is up in the air but most stories are based with something in mind that previously occured in said franchise and consistents are maintained. In this case for example, Captain Falcon seems to consistently be a bounty hunter racer that drives a car called the Blue Falcon that uses similar technology from the Star Fox franchise. Thats going to be the case always seemingly and any rando that comes in and says "well its up to me and i disregard all that"...thats your right but youre not right
