My buddy told me I'd have to do this; I just pushed in the RDR2 disc just a bit too hard and it wouldn't read. Then the system froze, and then I accidentally put it into rest instead of off, so badly I had to pull the plug (yikes). But I got lucky, and when I turned it back on and it's loading my game now. All the same, thanks for posting this.
Just a headsup! if it doesn't work right away that's okay. you may have to do a hard reset before the update takes effect! After the update and initial restart, turn off ps4, unplug power supply from the console,plug back in and restart. It worked for me after. thanks a bunch G

If youre having the problem of the drive not spinning up completely and getting the unrecognized disc error, do this. Right after putting in the disc, gently blow into the dvd drive for just a few seconds. You should hear the drive spin up. Stop blowing and play the game.

@talk4dews everything is working...my ps4 is just not able to read discs and thats really the only problem i got. I played some Fifa then i wanted to change the disc to cod so i put the disc in and the ps4 took some more time to read the disc at the end it told me that the disc cant be read so i tried fifa and some other discs (games and bluray) and it told me everytime the same

I know this is a old video but I decided to play some fallout 4 and when I loaded fallout it said disc cannot be read.so I cleaned disc and it still said it. I got mad cause it was really clean. And did everything in the video update software with usb rebuild database restore licenses but nothing. But I haven’t updated it in a long time could that be it. Please someone respond.oh and I didn’t update system software with internet

It never hurts to rebuild the database, I’m sorry if it didn’t work for you, most likely an internal problem with your PlayStation or Disc.
