Hey CMR, Even with flux core solder, I use to dip wires and connectors in flux rosin before applying heat. And touch the solder to metal that is away from the soldering iron tip (the heat will then draw the solder to the iron tip).

This was a really fun build to watch. I was actually surprised at how loud it sounded acoustically. I am interested in watching your electric build. I am planning on building an electric bass for my wife. Her current bass 'Bessy' is way too heavy for her to play standing up. Nice job!
A suggestion: use a zero fret for the nut, if you're using medium frets on the fretboard use a jumbo fret for the zero fret. It automatically places the strings above the fretboard frets. I used to mess with a nut and it took me forever to finesse the height of the cuts until I came across using a zero fret... I've never used a string height nug ever again, except as string guides over the zero fret... Your build sounds pretty good!! Good job! Now, do another with a magnetic pickup!!

I got the wood for the neck from Lowe’s. It’s just a piece of red oak. The electronics came from cbgitty.com and they have just about everything you would need to build one. They also have links to guides that walk through building one. Check them out!
I appreciate the comment man! I’ve got to get some low tack tape, I think. I was worried about peeling the paper on the top. Even on the sides where I used tape, I stuck it to my shirt first to try to de-tack it a little, but it still tore some. I appreciate you watching! Thanks!

Real lead solder from China and take your file or some sandpaper and scuff the pots where you need solder and pre solder (called tining)every where you need solder also use a real hot soldering iron 700 degrees and heat the surface and then add the solder it shouldn’t take but about 2-3 seconds get in and get out because if you use a weak soldering iron the whole entire pot will get hot before it get hot enough to melt the solder that’s why you use the super hot iron touch the metal 2 seconds or so then add the solder and also use some flux or rosen so just the solder joint gets hot and not the entire pot. Do not use plumbing solder because it uses acid rosen or flux as opposed to electrical solder and when the solder cools you want the surface of the solder to be shiny if it dries dull you probably have a “cold” solder joint so don’t blow on the joint just leave it alone and you will get it don’t let it frustrate you too much
I just order mine from China and it even says LEAD right on the spool I wonder if I could buy some methylene chloride from China too then I would have some good paint stripper also because they outlawed LEAD in solder and they outlawed methylene chloride in paint stripper and now all the solder they sell in the US sucks and as far as I'm concerned they don't even sell paint stripper in the US anymore and all those products that say paint stripper on the packaging I don't know what that stuff is but I do know it's not paint stripper cause none of it works

Tape and pilot holes. I’ve said the same. Oh well, this one’s for me anyway. Puckett builds budget CBGs. Don’t cheap out give yours it’s own brand

You need to use real LEAD solder not that lead free rubbish.
Yep, make sure you get solder meant for electronics... there is solder meant for plumbing, don't use that!!
