I need to get better at my thumbnails and story telling. My channel is so, so small. I put so much energy and effort into my videos, and I love creating videos. It's just discouraging being so small I feel like my videos don't get pushed out there very much. I feel like my channel doesn't grow because A: I need to work on my storytelling/thumbnails/titles and B: I don't market the videos because I got rid of all my social media (except yt)... Once you delete social media, it's easy to never go back.. been clean almost 3 years
@@heyyitsjoshie FB makes the process of terminating your socials EXTREMELY hard to do. I would suggest saving all the contacts/friends/photos to a drive, THEN DO IT... By saving everything, you won't fell like it's a complete loss. Trust me, after a couple weeks, you don't care about what your 'friends' are doing. As a creative, I believe having an email list of supporters is most beneficial.
I grew my first 3k subscribers without promoting on ANY other social media platform - I say this to say, if being on Instagram or other platforms isn’t something you want to do, you don’t need to! Just focus on your RUclips channel (storytelling like you mentioned).
I find the same is true about what you talked about with TikTok! Trending sounds and crap are so not worth the time! Information is what people really want especially once they make it to your page, they are looking for info not more trendy videos. Thanks for sharing!
also I am struggling with the difference between Insta Reels and TikToks too! I primarily make Tiktoks and thats they style I like, but Instagram doesn't perform well with those, so I can't repurpose content as much as I would like. I don't want to create separate content for both tiktok and insta but maybe I need to :/

Hi Katie, First i want to say I love your videos. As I prepare to start a YT channel I've been binge watching yours. I like your style, presentation, relevant information, and you don't overmarket yourself. For example, I know where the Like & Subscribe buttons are, I don't need to be told every few frames, like one video I just dumped - sadly, it was good info too but I won't go back to it. My suggestion - limt the hand gestures. My research indicates there are some benefits to them but I find it VERY distracting. Once you become aware of it you can't unsee it. Although I have ADD, I also think it detracts from your message. Also, stop messing with your hair. More than once in a video is too much. You are extremely well-spoken and present a comfortableness that is inviting, engaging and inspires trust and confidence. Focus on that! This is so helpful, thank you Katie! Question: how are you managing to find time for your agency work as well as all this? I ask because I'm a musician running my own label and mail order business, plus a subscription club - those things have to come first for me, then after that it's RUclips (1 video per week) and TikTok (3 videos per week). I'm trying to keep things ticking over without everything spreading into important rest time and leading to burnout (2021 and 2022 were bad for that!). Agree on Instagram not being a time intensive priority, I've been putting my TikTok's up as Reels as well though and have been surprised that they've got a lot of views! It's definitely ok to have some social media that's just for fun :)

When you talked about instagram reels being all about aesthetics it made me realize that for my brand instagram wouldn’t be a good fit. Think I’ll focus on RUclips shorts instead.
Thanks for another great video. What about using the TikTok videos and posting them on instagram automatically? It will still help to have the videos on both platforms, and the Reels time is now 90 seconds long. I have been experimenting with doing the short style of video and posting it across all 3 platforms, but doing 60 seconds videos is difficult as you said. Thank you for creating this video.
Do you edit your tiktok/shorts videos on a separate editor or use the apps? If you use the apps do you have a specific way to remove watermarks becuse I know youtube doesn't like repurposing tiktok videos? :) love your videos btw

here is what I hate. I feel like this is what you have to do to succeed in anything, however I'm a painter. I don't actually want to be a social media content creator, I really really don't. That's a full time job as you are mentioning and it absolutely takes time away from me focusing on becoming a stellar artist. I really wish there was a way around this. not to mention, you create content for social media in order to sell your works and make them visible, and then AI comes along and scrapes your images without permission. Fun times.

I would keep the TikTok content short enough so you can use it cross platform on to RUclips for sure. Make the content pull double duty.

Do you edit your tiktok/shorts videos on a separate editor or use the apps? If you use the apps do you have a specific way to remove watermarks becuse I know youtube doesn't like repurposing tiktok videos? :) love your videos btw

Are strategies are the same for 2023 you should post your sims stuff on your stories on IG it will show another side of you to your followers I’m focusing more on tik tok & youtube & reels and really trying to post on my stories often as well my tik tok schedule is pretty much the same m w f sat and sun I will use the weekend to batch tik toks & reels since everyone is out busy doing things on the weekends etccccc ❤❤❤ love your videos thanks for sharing your strategy

here is what I hate. I feel like this is what you have to do to succeed in anything, however I'm a painter. I don't actually want to be a social media content creator, I really really don't. That's a full time job as you are mentioning and it absolutely takes time away from me focusing on becoming a stellar artist.
I really wish there was a way around this.
not to mention, you create content for social media in order to sell your works and make them visible, and then AI comes along and scrapes your images without permission.
