Part 5: • Tariq Nasheed: Fat Joe...
Part 1: • Tariq Nasheed on Crash...
    --------
Tariq Nasheed discussed the promotion of rapper Sexyy Red, suggesting it is strategically orchestrated by White supremacists. Nasheed argues that the media's spotlight on Sexyy Red perpetuates negative stereotypes of Black women, ultimately used to justify their harm. Nasheed acknowledges a point made by artist Fredo Bang, which is that Sexyy Red represents a "spirit animal" to many women, offering an outlet for self-expression and freedom. However, Nasheed highlights a crucial imbalance in representation. He contrasts today's media environment with the 1990s, an era that featured a variety of female rappers like Lauryn Hill alongside more provocative figures like Lil' Kim and Foxy Brown. While Nasheed admits there is a certain liberation in Sexyy Red’s unapologetic persona, he insists that without a balanced depiction of Black women, the community suffers.

First off, there are so many things wrong with this comparison. While Kim and Foxy definitely represented the self-empowered, rebellious women, they were light years more refined and had a classier presentation to their rebelliousness that never undermined or compromised their femininity whatsoever.
Sexxy Red’s brand is all about making it acceptable to have a deplorable counterpart in a chaotic relationship that completely changes the dynamic of how a heterosexual relationship should work. Kim and Foxy were more like black mafioso queens that complemented their men in negligent acts, all while using the conventional attraction triggers that men desire to leverage power in the relationship, not engaging in chaotic behavior, looking any kind of way, and telling the man he must accept it regardless. There's a complete difference. 😂
