    Virtuosic performances by both players. The whole match has an almost operatic feel to it with the unfolding drama eloquently described by the announcers. I can't think of anything else like it in the realm of pool videos. Thanks for the remastering! 230+ games, each one more suspenseful than the last.
    P.S. My guess is that there was a lot more than a hundred large riding on the match.

    What a great match. Those two in their prime played with a level of speed and confidence that I think would beat anybody today. They certainly didn't need shot clocks.

    Think about the difference in pressure between Earl and Efren. Earl didn't have his backer and Philippine Counsel General sitting front row looking at everything he was doing . . .

    Bad attitude in defeat Strickland , you were all fine , full of confidence and no doubt you would have thought you were one hundred percent unbeatable when you had a 17 game lead , what happened Strickland ? Was that huge lead luck ? or was it your brilliant playing ? Was Reyes WIN luck ? or was it because of his brilliant playing and composure to come back from 17 games down ? Would you , Could you , come back from 17 games down to Reyes ? With Reyes confidence , composure , and humility he always displays ? "No Way" Efren Reyes is the "GOAT" and you should have aknowledged his brilliant playing to come back and Win after 17 games down , he deserves all the accolades for that performance , it was a masterful display of brilliant shooting , obviously , he WON

    I know the commentator does many matches and I respect his commentary, but being the MC here at the end of this high class match was so cringey. Surprised he didn’t tell us about how much he loved the sushi. Guy totally forgets the players and the smoothness of the crowd. I guess it shows you can pretend you’re all high class, but you aint better than the guy next to you.

      Efren is my favorite all time player, but Earl is hardly that. He’s 8-0 in US Open and World 9 Ball Finals. I would say he’s the antithesis of the Bills.

    during 88-75? how did strickland get 2 “turns”? im new to 9ball but i for sure know that to remain in the table or continue your turn, u have to hit lowest numbered and pot a ball

      A Push Out shot can be called on the first shot after the break. You can shoot the cue ball anywhere on the table. You can hit another ball as well. The incoming player can take the shot or give it back to the opponent.

      This was in the early days of pool. NO ONE knew what the hell they where doing lol. I saw Efren miss bc the camera man literally moves mid stroke while being DIRECTLY down the shot line. This had to be so tough to get used to for everyone.

    This is my favorite game between them ever, though Strickland lost against himself at the end.
    But why bother with this upload, there's NO improvement in the visual.. quite the contrary; it's blurry at best.. and this is a clearly (yes yes) 2 steps back from the upload already existing here on YT (inside pool magazine? in several parts).

    The skill levels of Strickland and Reyes are exactly even. Winning at this level, especially in pool and other table games, is strictly a matter of luck. Strickland was unlucky in this instance.

    At 90 to 77, Earl kicked at the 5 6, he played the safety too, 2 way shot, hooked Efren dead, Efren kicks as hard as he could, hit 5, straight shit the 6 in, The place went crazy, and Mark Wilson said, did you see that great kick shot?
