Nate Silver didn't really need to clarify that he wasn't a Trump supporter considering every comment he made in reference to Trump was either wrong or just negative.

The more I hear about Adam's parents and growing up, the more it sounds exactly like my parents and my life!! No money, parents never made any money, never spent any money, just were there like room-mates. Zero ambition in life. I totally escaped that. They are still the exact same as they were during the 70s.
A lot of Silent Generation parents were like that in the 70's. They grew up after the Depression but since their parents were so traumatized by it and carried so much of a survivalist, get-by-without mindset they ended up romanticizing that and passed it onto their kids.
My parents saved every plastic container that came into the house, we never got name brands, got hand-me-downs as much as possible and had the same car from 1972 to 1993. We would check the mailbox to intercept phone, water and electric bills and had to plan around when we would "let" our Dad see them, because we knew that if we had a game, dance/social event and he got his hands on those bills before it went down, it was certain that there would be an hour-long yelling session, going through every line item on the bill and blaming everyone for being wasteful, then ultimately the punishment phase where the ride we _thought_ we were going to get or a few bucks given to us for our dance, field trip, date whatever, was not even a possibility at that point.
It was a sh|t upbringing but, I always rationalized it that there were kids living in warzones in Lebanon, starving in China or standing in line for toilet paper and bread in the USSR so compared to _those_ kids, me complaining about not getting a few bucks, yelled at by my Dad when he had to spend money or not having cable/MTV like all the other kids at school, was a pretty minor issue and I would have to be pretty spoiled to b|tch about it. What a time to be alive, eh? ☺

I mean, I guess for people with no creativity. I used to have a job that paid well (not Corolla money, but it was ok, and I lived very simply) and was very flexible, and so I could cash in for, say, a year, and then I could travel as long as the money lasted. Some people would say, "Well, what are you going to do? You're going to get bored?" I was never bored. I was traveling, learning new languages, hiking, reading books, writing (for myself, like journals), eatin gnew foods. I mean, I would eventually go back to work when I was down to a few thousand,
If I had a few thousand bucks a month without work, I wouldn't be sitting on my couch eating Cheetos, but ok, maybe I'm the outlier. Lived that lifestyle for about 10 years, a little more. Only slowed down for kids.

After hearing orny Adams on your show, a friend of mine and I went to see him in San Diego. There's a guy sitting next to us at a table with a hot chick and it turned out it was her first date. I'm thinking that's pretty ballsy. Going to see a comedy show on a first date, especially. Orney Adams. He was great by the way.

My oldest child and her husband are grifters,too. Everything is a scam and everyone is a mark. Sadly she was raised right, went to church, worked in the family business until she turned 18 so she always had what she wanted and knew if she wanted some big ticket item she just had to work a little harder. Now if we go out to dinner I have to make sure that she's aware I'm paying for everything. That way, she doesn't have to bring a dead cockroach to drop in her iced tea, or pull hair out to stuff in her lasagna or force herself to throw up on the floor and start yelling that the roquefort is spoiled. She's never fulfilled a lease, she's never paid a car note to ownership, she's never held a job longer than 2 months. It's exhausting.
