Thank you for this helpful video. Good job! Does the Lenovo P52 support PCIe Gen4, or only Gen3? Should I buy MLC, QLC or TLC band-type? Would the Lenovo P51 be any different, with respect to SSD upgrades?

regarding your question: its gen 3 but gen 4 ssds are compatible with gen 3 m.2 slots. also p52 comes with different CPUs (gents), and if you have the gen 10 or 12 CPU then its Gen 4 PCI-E m.2 .
regarding the MLC and the rest, i recommend getting the TLC, as its the sweet spot you not risking cache and or TWB (terabytes written). for daily use for consumer i recommend TLC
and regarding SSD's get a SAMSUNG PRO they are one of the top brand and the most reliable and durable SSD, Samsung , Samsung evo plus, Samsung PRO.
      from low to high grade.

Is there a reason why you recommend a Mechanical drive for the Internal storage drive rather than an SSD?

Regarding your question about why HDD ans 2nd storage on laptops, there are several factors to consider depending on your usage. One important consideration is the choice between SSD (Solid State Drive) and HDD (Hard Disk Drive).
HDDs are reliable for safekeeping files without the risk of losing data or degrading the disk. That's why servers often use HDDs since they are not prone to degradation based on writing, and the data is magnetically written permanently unless sectors are changed. On the other hand, SSDs offer advantages such as speed, file response transfers, and shock resistance. However, they are not as reliable for long-term storage of important files because they degrade more easily with each write and erase cycle, affecting the NAND chips.
Over my 17 years of experience serving clients, I've seen numerous cases where people came to the store in tears, seeking file recovery from degraded SSDs. One aspect I dislike about SSDs for safekeeping files is that we have tested many brands, including the Samsung PRO models claiming 600TB written before failure, which is far from reality. We conducted a test with movie files on SSDs, and after around 30% degradation, even on the "PRO" models, we copied the movie file from an HDD to the SSD. When we tried opening the file, after approximately 3 minutes of watching, the screen goes green!. It's important to note that during the file transfer, there were no errors, and the original movie on the HDD was watchable.
This small test demonstrates that the TBW (Total Bytes Written), which indicates the amount of data a SSD can write in its lifetime, is not an accurate indicator. Manufacturers use this metric to denote when the SSD will stop responding, but as consumers, our concern is when it will start affecting our files. It has been proven that after around 30-40% degradation, issues with pictures and videos can arise.
To conclude, I recommend having the operating system (Windows) on an SSD for speed and responsiveness, while storing main files and documents on an HDD for safer long-term storage.
I hope I have provided a clear explanation. If you have any further questions or requests in the future, please don't hesitate to ask.
