I like SF4 more for being more "cartoonish/animeish" oriented, but SF5 doesn't look any bad either. Ryu looks insanely great in SF5. But SF4 has that goofyness that I like so much lol
Though I admit the body proportions are way too crazy in 4.

Funny, I think Ryu is the worst looking in SF5. Instant of focused he looks pissed off all the time and thuggish, which doesn't fit his character imo.

That's because it went for a stylized look. Games that do that look timeless.

It's Dan, and he's the man. If he's ever in 6, I wonder if he'll look even more like Steven Seagal.
And that makes him even better because Dan was never the cocky, overconfident character who thinks he can defeat everyone despite his skills not being able to match anyone else's, he's someone who always tries his best no matter what because he thinks he can match up to everyone else when in reality he can't. I hate how he was done in SF4 and I'm very happy with how they did him in SFV

@@gab_gabriel7091In the original SF Alpha Dan was genuinely powerful.
Also Dan is canonically capable of tapping into the Satsui no Hado AND is capable of making one handed Hadokens, which means he has more potential than Ryu himself.
Dan is the case of someone whit a LOT of talent and potential being wasted and badly trained.

It's interesting where the places in SFV miss the mark for me in comparison to SF4. The models and animation are clearly more detailed, but certain aspects of the characters are all over the place in SFV, like faces. And the hair for a lot of characters is better animated in 4 than 5, despite the higher detail in the models, making them look like one plastic piece, as if it was on an action figure.
SF4 is more consistent with the cartoony, exaggerated design of the models in general, where SFV seems to be in this crossroad between realistic and cartoony, making the overall looks range from good, to OK, to fugly, to hideous.

I think there's just a lot of SF4 nostalgia coloring the comments. But, SF5 was a clear improvement over 4, especially in terms of animation quality. It's okay to miss SF4, but don't let those rose tinted glasses make you look ridiculous. (Also, the color difference is based on the lighting of the stage. The SF5 characters will have warmer tones outside of the sterile training stage lighting)

@@personaphantom5543ima be completely real, I only saw some of those comments when the gameplay for SF6 was first revealed, but ever since then, I’ve only seen people comment how much better the game looks compared to 5. I honestly have no idea which SF5 fans you’re talking about.

But SfV as 3rd strike cant compare. Maybe if the art direction would go straight to the original brush style of Akiman's art, and keeping the jazzy hip hop street feeling...
I guess Sf6 does a good job keeping the 3rd strike essence but they inevitable go for a more real and human style because the console graphics race and the characters getting old visibly.
I hope we can get a full 3rd strike theme/music/textures as a future DLC!
SFV is more stylized, although I wished that they kept the warm tones from SF4 (this could just be a lighting issue on this stage specifically tho) overall sf5 wins for me by a tiny smudge, the movements in sf4 are soooo unnatural lol
I'm just going to say this and this is my opinion even if people have a different one if they kept the warm tone it would have ruined the game in my opinion, I like Street Fighter 5 the way it is no warmth own because I have a brightness and texture issue when it comes to games the brightness I can get used to but the texture it bothers me

That's just people's nostalgia glasses saying that sf4 is better, I only agree on the smaller details like hair animation and stuff. Even now some people saying that sf4 looks better than sf6 but now they're actually getting called out for it.

Thats useful for Kage is Evil Dan theories.
Plus After Kages Critical Art he does the EXACT SAME motion as Dans idle animation.(because kages Idle animation IS slightly different)
Dan being Kage makes no sense. Kage isn’t anyone but himself. He’s a manifestation of the dark hado created from Ryu. The reveal trailer literally shows Kage being formed from Ryu. Ryu’s voice actor also voices Kage. Kage is suppose to be the canon version of Evil Ryu.
@@Gouken.07Whoever thought of that is certainly an idiot, however, I think if we take another direction with that idea, that being that Dan, despite being SF's joke fighter, has so much potential that his technique could be the strongest out of all fighters, to the point that Kage, the manifestation of the Hado itself, uses the same technique in a more refined way.
Dan's single most problematic attribute is, unfortunanely, himself, otherwise, he could even surpass Ryu.

Yeah! Despite the faults in 5, the designs of the character models look better and less uncanny!
I got my issues with the art direction in both games, but you can really see how ugly af SF4's style was in SFxT when it's applied to the Tekken roster. Thank god 6 brought back the SF3 detail
I do like the warm tones of sf4. Makes them more vibrant. SFV makes everyone look pastey and desperately in need of sunlight. Atleast they aged the characters some. And their idle animations are more expressive
Sf4 is the one that looks off in that way.
SF4 didn't age that well. It aged like milk! But 5 aged just fine for the most part! And they look less creepy in front view!

Of course SF5 models are more detailed, but I think SF4 isn't ugly at all, and would be amazing with improved textures.

At least SF4 was the biggest fighting game of it's time. SFV was nothing more than everyone's side hoe after they needed a break from playing Tekken 7.

Sad that SF5 didn't have a high budget. Capcom were really struggling around that time. In many areas SF4 looks superior. Especially in the facial expressions department

SFV has the better animations and cinematics of the two, but there's a softness and texture to SF4 that I enjoy more. Also SF5 characters look straight out of Son of the Mask with the weird shiny clumps of hair

SF4 had the best 3D style while knowing it was a videogame. SF5 was trying to do that cinematic nonsense with the anime style and it was a complete miss.
SFV is better on almost everything. It looks to me like Ryu, Ken, Guile, Seth and even Blanka all have similar faces. I also hate how Chun Li and Cammy look in 4

Watching this, also seeing numerous comparisons between these games and Street Fighter 6, while between 4 and 5 it's a preference, Street Fighter 6 objectively has a better and more cohesive look than is capable in 4 or 5. I might even say SF6 is the best looking Street Fighter since the days of 2D sprite work.
Between 4 and 5 specifically, I like Street Fighter 4 better because I will take the organic goofiness of the aesthetic over the super plastic-y look of Street Fighter 5. The way 5 handles faces and hair just feels really off in an uncanny valley sort of way I don't have with 4.

take with no assigned tempature: i prefer SFV over 4 in terms of looks because while SF4 looks muddy as a whole in some parts [INCLUDING SFxT which is the worst of it] and every character in there looks like if you knocked on them they'd either echo on the inside or they'd just feel like hardened material, SFV is perfection 'cause it perfectly balances the anime looks and the cartooniness and the porportions into something that i'd call ''peak street fighter'' [EXCEPT KEN MASTERS JESUS CHRIST]
and then SF6 is just pure hit or miss

It's the eyes for me. SFV character's eyes look... off. The models are better proportioned and are sharper, but their eyes look soulless. And Ken's banana hair is inexcusable.
Yeah I have the same problem as well, if 5 used the same facial expressions as 4 it would have looked sooo much better. Take Ibuki for example, she's full of energy in 4 but in 5, she looks like a fish with those eyes so separated from each other 💀

because he put all in TRAINING STAGE SFV lighting of the stages affect the look of the characters and training stage have the worst lighting in the game.

just compare side to side, its almost like the whole game of sf4 has a yellow/orange filter over it. even the training strage itself looks yellowish instead of plain white.
