    this is the most succinct summation of this setup, clean work.

    I wish I’d known this kind of tech existed years ago! I haven’t been playing drums much lately (work has taken over my life) but I was always obsessed with tech in my early days. I got banned from a rehearsal space for miking my own kick but I didn’t let that stop me from learning to do it safely without damaging a PA in the future. My mind was blown when I saw Meshuggah starting their songs without any sort of count-in live. A week later, I was hounding my bandmates to start saving up for wireless IEM rigs and building click tracks for all our songs. I knew that bands would play with two laptops but I never understood how a redundancy setup worked until today. I think this has reignited my obsession with tech!

    Does anybody know if its possible, and if so how, to control two Setlist plugins at once using the Mira Controller app on ipad?
    I have dual macbooks running identical ableton sessions for redundancy.
    Setlist is triggered by the ipad and works perfect with one macbook. But using two, it shows them as separate devices and I cannot figure out how to make it trigger both at the same time.

    Can I run a redundant rig with 2 different versions of a Macbook? For example a 2019 macbook pro and a 2012 macbook pro ? Thanks

    hey, i want to use an ableton push to control both ableton instances but playaudio12's midi host port doesn't support ableton push, is there another way to use an ableton push to control two computers simultaneously?

    What type of usb cable is best to connect the playaudio12 to my macbooks using the 2 front usb ports on the pa12? Should i take an Audio Optimized USB cable from eg UDG or Chroma with ferrit chokes , or will a normal data USB cable do the job?

    • @henrystrange

      We use normal grounded USB cables.

    Can you show a video on how you set up your midi controller in Ableton to trigger both computers? Also, is this trigger method available to launch clips?

    • @strangeelectronic8620
      @strangeelectronic8620  5 лет назад

      This is done using the PlayAudio12. The USB input on the PA12 works only with class compliant Midi controllers and then splits the output to the two computers. Yes, this can launch clips as well.

    Im unable to get both computers midi mapped and setlists moving together. Do I need to have LifeSine running on both computers? Do I need to set the midi mapping up on both computers?

    • @weareepikker
      @weareepikker 3 года назад

      You do need both computers to have the same mapping. Easiest was is the simply copy the entire session to the second computer.

    • @weareepikker
      @weareepikker 3 года назад +1

      You only need Lifesine for the A computer.

    if the computer A is disconnected the midi controller can control the setlist application of the computer B? How is the redundancy organized?

    • @strangeelectronic8620
      @strangeelectronic8620  4 года назад +1

      The PlayAudio 12 splits the midi signal of the midi controller. It is designed specifically for redundant fail safe.

    Can I apply this and keep my UA apollo 8 as interface for input and output?

    • @strangeelectronic8620
      @strangeelectronic8620  4 года назад

      If you want to apply this to using Apollos simply get a iConnectivity Midi 4+ to split the midi. You will also need a Radial SW-8. As you can see the iConnectivity PA12 is a half rack that replaces 4 devices for a fraction of the price.

    is it possible to built the rig with one mac and one windows?

    • @strangeelectronic8620
      @strangeelectronic8620  4 года назад +2

      Yes because its just midi data being sent to the second machine. However I can't recommended it as part of redundancy is to have a mirrored backup.

      @@strangeelectronic8620 you mean machines should be as close as possible in terms of specs and operating system? i have a windows machine and want to buy a mac mini to built a redundant rig, what are the drawbacks and risks would be with this system? should i just buy another windows machine? thank you for your answer.

    • @henrystrange
      @henrystrange 4 года назад +2

      @@ertancetin825 Having two different machines just seems like trouble as you will have different troubleshooting variables. On tour we've only used macs and have yet to see a PC on the road used for playback. I would recommend that you get two macs that are identical in nearly every way. Again, these are just recommendations based on our touring experience so we're not saying that you can't successfully do it another way.

    how do you rack the playaudio12? does it come with a rack mount?

    • @strangeelectronic8620
      @strangeelectronic8620  5 лет назад

      You buy a rack shelf and then mount it to the shelf. In this case, we have simply velcroed it to the Radial which is equally sturdy.

      Thanks for the quick response! how are you guys patching the Playaudio12 to the Pro8? Are you going TRS out of the Playaudio12 and into Insert, IN A, or IN B on the ProD8?@@strangeelectronic8620
