These testday's are great to hear the cars. No other cars around and no annoying music or commentators through the speakers.
Which sadly is the only time you can really hear how the M8 GTE sounds. :/

True, but I was thinking that BMW may also make a M8 GT3 since they already have this GTE model which is very similar to GT3 cars...

I was at the 24h Race at the Nurburgring last weekend and the M6 GT3 had the most brutal sound of all GT3-cars and it was pretty similar to the M8 GTE, which propably is, because they share mostly the same drivetrain (4.0L twinscroll V8 and 6-speed sequential)

hmm i was really stoked when was the m6 unveiled. But disapointed in the engine sound, the turbo engines are kinda boring againts the natural aspirated r8 or 911 or the monster AMG/ bentley sound. And this M8 looks again amazing, but aaaaaahhh....if it have the characteristic sound of M3 GTR or GT2 or Z4 then it´ll be bad ass race car.
I've never been to a race like this before. I bet this car is going a lot faster than what it looks on video. I'd love to see this beauty up close and in person.

FIA track regulations are forcing all car makers to be much quieter. Just look at F1.
Well, i guess it is pretty close. From what i know it tops at around 7000, and considering this is testing who knows what engine mapping / fuel mod they run. They may well manage the engine or limit it for this kind of test.
Cars1999 not at all, just look at the Porsche RSR, it's absolutely loud, maybe as loud as V8 F1 era, I 've heard it in Le Mans 2017 and Spa 2018 this car is insanely loud, there is no regulations for it. Just turbo engine like the new Aston or Ferrari 488 or the BMW make it quiet. Naturally aspirated engine like Corvette V8 or Flat 6 Porsche are loud as hell. F1 are quiet because of turbo + hybrid, cost reduction that's it

While it sounds pretty good it's not a patch on the Porsche. It's like they've shoved a couple of Big Mufflers on it. Must be the Turbo's.
Turbo race cars don't have mufflers the turbo baffles the noise enough

Deceleration sound is like thunder from far, but something like this should be street legal, in my opinion BMW needs a supercar for streets to have a part of concurrence with Ferraris and Lamborghinis etc

My f8 leading me to a gr8 thumbnail of an M8 is gr8 m8 its never too l8
It's a shame this was not a very good car. This car was always off pace so they would bop it up by giving it more boost which made it super fast on straights. Hence why it won Daytona in 2019 and 2020. The MTec team in WEC bowed out due to the bop issues claiming they couldn't get a fair bop when it was because they couldn't find pace in the car until they upped the boost and it screamed on the straights.
Car design is awesome, but the noise, terrible, miss you Z4.

One can hope we get a GTE Z5, although that won't sound any better than this either.

Although the Z5 has yet to start production as the agreement with Toyota to help them build 2wd sport cars as a joint roadster project in Austria is still going on - so what’s the point to bring that up .
