No one does a city series like you do, and I’m excited to see this series. Especially since Denver has been a controversial city and getting flack over the migrant crisis. I can only imagine the time and money you have invested in this new documentary. Also that Laramer Square area is extremely lucky to survive Urban Renewal which was a horrific failure of federal spending that destroyed historic downtown areas in the late 60s and early 70s turning glorious architectural areas that are foot traffic friendly in to parking friendly mid century strip malls that now usually are only filled with tattoo parlors bars and Chinese restaurants.
The illegal immigrants are moving in on places that are supposed to be for homeless veterans and other homeless American citizens. It’s getting hard for those.

I moved to Five Points in the late 90s and loved it. Finally moved out a year ago (left CO too for that matter). It's sad how bad downtown has gotten.. it just didn't make sense for us to stay there anymore.

I’m a native of Denver and it’s always had a homeless problem. I would catch the rtd growing up and saw wild things because of the sheer craziness out there. Everything went down hill once 420 was recreationally legalized. There was a mass influx of people and it raised the economic disparity amongst people. I left 8+ years ago because I knew it was only going to get worse.
At 50:51 you went past the D&F (Daniels & Fishers) tower which is all that remains of the Daniels and Fishers department store. The store was one of the first in the city to provide goods for the frontier families (much like Sears, Roebuck & Co). The tower is part of the Tabor Center - that was built in the mid-80's. The story of Horace Tabor and his mistress Baby Doe is another part of Denver historical past. At one time the tower was the tallest structure between St. Louis and San Francisco.
It's easy to take the light rail from Union Station in LoDo to Empower Field so it's still convenient to go to any of the sports events without having to deal with traffic and parking.
I am a Colorado native, born in 57...I have been to many places across the state, mostley in the mountains and desert places...Mesa Verde in the southern part of the state is truly spectacular..You can walk right into it and walk around...The sand dunes in the southern part of the state is also spectacular...There is a mountain range right in the same region. The quiet here is very soothing and you can really unwind and just enjoy the quiet ............. The urban regions in down town are worth a look as well...Go to the Art museum and visit City Park....Explore the down town mall while you are there ...........................................

Lived all over the Denver metro area Arvada to Littleton, Golden to Arora. Denver native Colfax and Broadway has always been a bad corner it's the central hub for public transportation. You can get to Arora, Arvada, Golden, Littleton all by bus it's cheaper then taking the light rail back in 2012 it would cost 10$ to get to and from Littleton by light rail vs 2.50 by bus. I can only imagine prices have changed.
I was in Denver at the same time as Chris. I remember I once took a bus downtown and as we got to the last stop I was literally dropped in the middle of a tent city near the Capitol. I was like WTF, I know homelessness is a complex problem and you can't solve it in a day, but why at the very least not move them out of a place which people literally have no way of avoiding?
Finally getting around to watching this video. I agree with you Chris that a downtown area should be walkable. Driving there is not only pumping pollution onto pedestrians but it is a hazard. Being able to walk allows you to find more places and good for health. LoDo is both being trendy and lazy.

You need to mention Broomfield, Superior, Lafayette, Arvada, Westminster, and Thornton, which are are all friendly, uncongested, and low-crime suburbs. Downtown in any central metropolitan area are virtually always the sewer drains.

I've lived in in Denver for 7 months and ive parked all around downtown, now granted I do not leave any of my valuables in my car and I keep a club on my wheel and lock it. I would recommend this to anyone who lives in a big city because you never know. But out of my whole time living here, I've only witnessed a car getting broken into once! haven't witnessed any other crimes aside from that

Went to Denver to check out a possible roommate situation within walking distance of the downtown park/former cemetery. I dodged a bullet and that's not just a phrase. The stories I could tell about my week in Denver, 2010. My best advice is fly into Denver to go skiing but catch your connecting bus ASAP. Same as stop in Albuquerque if YOU HAVE TO stop for gas. And then leave.
