Hey, iam 68 Year old Germanguy and learned Guitar with 63 after a Cancerdiagnoses and i am still alive and learned everyday a bit more about Guitarplaying. I love Rock, Blues and Folk especiaelly Slidetechnique and this Tutorial helps me a lot. Many thanks !!
Man, I've loved this song for so many years but it seemed too difficult so I never had the courage to try to tackle it. This video got me pumped. So well done the way you break down a rockin' riff and make it accessible for aspiring slide guitar players.
Such a good lesson, I'm a beginner on slide and learned this by heart in 30 minutes. It really built my confidence in the instrument and the style. Now looking at other lessons to learn more of the individual string pickings. Thanks!
Been playing guitar for over 50 years but just got back into slide because of hand strength. The way you laid this out was fun and relaxing! Hope your still trucking.
Man he killed it! I've watched so many other videos on open g tuning and slide from various authors and was lost, but the very instant he explains it and shows the formula for this song it comes together and clicks for me. Thanks for a very informative video brother!
Very Interesting And Thanks For Sharing. I Remember Purchasing The Led Zeppelin BBC Tapes Many Years Ago And Hearing Traveling Riverside Blues. Always Love This Song!
followed this lesion when I started slide about 6 months ago, have come back to brush up on my Shakespeare and this lesson is still really informative, great teaching style,
You've nailed it, Peter! I'm a boogie piano player branching off on guitar and will add your mojo to my own guitar repertoire! You break things down into nice bite size chunks and demo often enough for the learner to grasp it. BRAVO!
Peter, I like the way you present your lessons. Down to earth and easy to follow. I've been playing slide for several years since my left hand was injured and arithis has set in I'm in my 60s and this format really makes it easy. I'll be visiting your web site for sure for more. Thanks for your time in presenting them.
Thanks for the great video lesson. I ordered a Resonator guitar, I've always loved the sound. I've been playing guitar and bass for 40 plus years. I have a natural ear for music. I started getting arthritis in my hands in my mid 20s but I refuse to stop playing, I love it so much. Thanks for the inspiration to learn slide👍 God bless
Peter, I'm just learning the dobro and slide with open G so 3 cord songs are right up my ally. Add to that I'm a Zeppelin fan and this was a great lesson for me. Much appreciated.
great job, and thank you for being direct and informative, as opposed to most on line "guitar teachers" who spend more time talking about themselves and their life experiences than actual music - cheers - Randy
Great lesson with no complications.....gonna have a go at this whilst I have a few days off work..my first attempt at slide and open tuning....I really love this song...Thanks...
This is the first song I’m learning on my resonator. One thing I don’t understand is why the C chord is called the 4 chord and the D chord is called the 5 chord. Thanks for the lesson. I think I’ve got it!
That was great lesson. I'd gotten the basic Delta stuff down but this is a whole other dimension. Very clear and well explained, but also with a lot of feeling. Thanks!
Hey, one question -- any advice on playing the resonator with a pick? I just started playing a resonator and I am finding that the pick makes it hard to control "volume," especially when strumming. One wayward pick motion and the neighbors start grinding their teeth. I got through your tutorial playing just with my fingers and the slide, and I enjoyed playing it that way, but I was trying to replicate what you were doing as much as possible . . . Any tips?
Hi Gabriel. The pick will give more volume and projection for sure but if you don't need that, or prefer the softer sound of fingers that's great as well. If you just started on the Dobro it may take a bit of time to get the control of the using the pick, but the pick will always be a louder sound, just give it some time to adjust to the dynamics. Have fun!
Well, that was a lot of fun, and I do love Jimmy Page. I first saw Zeppelin in 1968 or 69 as the opening act for the Who. I might be a little too loose on this, as it sounds like I've had a couple of beers when I haven't. A great, fun song to learn slide on. Thank you.
Fantastic lesson Peter, have been meaning to get round to starting slide guitar for at least a year. Great tune, am starting right now. Keep up the good work. M :-)
i just love this lesson, you make it sound so cool, so I just copy you, and theres that sound I couldn't find on my own.......made easy for me!! (thanks dude!)
Ya mon, just watched your lesson (first time) very cool! I've been wankin' on this ol' guitar for years, but only recently started taking it seriously and even more recently picked up a slide.. pretty fucking addictive I must say. I like your approach, good info on how to play, but you included the fun part by giving us a song to work on. Thanks again, I'm a big fan now.. Cheers, Dr. Fun
I'm just learning but something seemed slightly off. I think that chord is D7sus? I had to use chord finder to get the name, but it just didn't sound 100% D7 and I figure it is lacking the F# . But don't let that /diminish/ the enthusiasm, I *DO* really like your teaching!
Really enjoyed this explanation of a great song. Thanks for sharing! Do you think Robert Johnson played with a pick? What's the best way to size a slide? I noticed you prefer the slide on your pinky rather than your ring finger.
Thanks for watching and posting, I have no idea about RJ using a pick? but I seriously doubt he did. I use the pinky or 3rd finger, the 3rd finger more often when I need precision for lead etc, check out the Tribute to Duane video I posted for that. keep looking till you find a slide with a good weight you can control...have fun!!
Peter, hate to nerf a old post but is there a advanced lesson.(you mentioned)...If so please link it. tyvm, you have a great teaching method. Please post more.
No apologies needed, its not like free lessons on youtube pay the electric bill or buy strings.... :), but I know I speak for many when I say, one day you will feel like (Hey its time) and we will watch , learn and enjoy. just like we enjoyed this one. Thank you for the lesson.

Awesome lesson. Please do some more slide stuff on the resonator.....
Man, I've loved this song for so many years but it seemed too difficult so I never had the courage to try to tackle it. This video got me pumped. So well done the way you break down a rockin' riff and make it accessible for aspiring slide guitar players.
This lesson opened up a whole new lane for me to learn the Blues. Thank you, Peter. You are an awesome teacher.... Like your style.
Happy to hear that!...many thanks!!
You're an even better instructor than I thought. My wife just opened my door and said, "That sounded good, what was it?"
Such a good lesson, I'm a beginner on slide and learned this by heart in 30 minutes. It really built my confidence in the instrument and the style. Now looking at other lessons to learn more of the individual string pickings. Thanks!

Yep Gabriel, sure do :)
