      Im honestly so sad he really hasn't gotten a big moment to show off, even in that episode. I know the joke is he is capable but bumbling but they couldn't even let cook when standing up to his father, Millie had to come and save him again.

      He does get to cook in other episodes though, especially the ones against Striker. Pretty much all of Western Energy was him making a seven-course meal. The fact that Striker is a highly competent, dangerous assassin just makes Moxxie's ability to come out of those fights with only bruises shows how much he can actually hold his own against the right opponent.

He has a great deal of respect for Blitz, almost like his boss is a less-sh**ty father figure for him. The very first episode had him learn that the people I.M.P. are hired to kill are often even worse than the sinner who wants them dead. Moxxie is a caricature. But even then, he is living in a setting where it's culturally acceptable to kill and steal from people.
      In real life society says one thing, reality says another. Which is why people with Marshall and/or Criminal background become isolated.

    One thing I noticed during the episode is just _how quietly_ Moxxie cries. You can barely even hear him whimper. That's probably an adaptive behavior too, learned to not draw attention to himself when processing his trauma so that Crimson won't see and decide he needs more "toughening up". This probably happened at least once.
    Poor Moxxie...

      @Nitrinoxus Месяц назад +8

      It's one of the hallmarks of lasting trauma and abuse, especially when there's a risk of re-victimization if the abuser notices the 'outburst' -- like you guessed, it's an adaptive defense strategy to avoid drawing attention to yourself when you're emotionally vulnerable, a learned habit that often persists even after the victim escapes their abuser... and from the conversations I've had with people after sharing my own experiences, it's one of those habits that sometimes people don't even _notice_ after they've picked it up, until someone else points it out.

    One thing i noticed is that while we, the audience, know that Millie can easily handle whatever Crimson has to throw at her (as she proves later in the episode), Moxxie is blinded by the fear of his father. It's not that he thinks Millie is helpless, he's just too traumatized in the moment to remember that Millie could defeat an angry hippo in battle with one hand tied behind her back.

    My favourite detail in this episode is when Moxxie opens up about his relationship with Chaz. Up until this point, Millie was confused/upset about her husband hiding all this stuff about his family/upbringing from her. Especially with how honest and communicative their relationship is. But as soon as Millie learns how much Chaz hurt Mox, and that his dad is forcing Mox to interact with Chaz, Millie immediately flips back to her feral protective mode. She doesn't know the full extent of Mox's trauma at this point, but she knows him well enough to see it anyway. She and Mox can talk about his secrets later. Right now, her husband doesn't feel safe, and THAT becomes her #1 priority.

Yes he's a (sort of) authority figure who near constantly picking on him & shoving him around (& yes, he takes it too far sometimes), BUT in a way that Moxie feels comfortable enough to argue/push back, something he's probably never done before! Moxxie's responses to the stressors in this episode feel authentic when you've lived through similar traumas -- everything from his fight-or-flight reaction on arrival to his withdrawn anxiety while there, and _especially_ his near-silent breakdown, come across like they're either very well-researched or directly inspired by personal experience. You can _feel_ the weight of the trauma he's carrying, which makes it all the more powerful when he finally stands up to the man at the heart of his trauma.

      I loved that episode and I felt like a lot of people didn't understand what was happening with him during it.
      Moxxie had just finally stood up to Crimson, but wasn't strong enough on his own and had to be rescued.
      He is feeling weak and desperate and dives headfirst into what is supposed to be his personal power fantasy.
      Moxxie is going to perfectly execute an elaborate plan that impresses Blitzø.
      Moxxie is going to be the sassy, popular, artistic, dominant, feminine "Moxxine", a charicature of everything that Crimson tried to beat out of him.
      But the fantasy fails to materialize and his self esteem crashes and he lashes out at Millie, and when he does he reminds himself of Crimson and it terrifies him.

When I first watched it alongside my husband, I wound up curled into a ball on his lap and sobbing. He's honestly way too well adjusted. Unhappy Campers highlighted many toxic traits that he usually suppresses. So we know he isn't at all over his childhood trauma. But him being able to control It most of the time, grow as a person to treat Millie in the most respectful and loving way he can, and be the voice of reason for Blitz, It's honestly impressive. Many wouldn't have been able to survive this, mentally. Blitzo, in my opinion, crumbled for less, and wasn't stable even before his mother's death. Not to be unfair to Blitzo, people have different levels of sensitivity, and that's ok. It's just to notice the great mental strength that Moxxie possess.

      Even though I think a lot of the criticism it gets for this is pretty overblown (which is sadly pretty typical at this point for anything Vivziepop makes. People just love to descend on that poor woman like a pack of rabid dogs), especially considering Mommy and/or Daddy Issues are the New Black for 2000's media, there really are a lot of bad parents/parental-type figures (like Mammon) that are just every shade of awful in this universe.

    For a person that is severely detached from normal and civil setting, they're outward Persona will be tailored in more detailed manner to be able to ineract with people from society.

    Moxxie's story isn't over yet. He still need to settle the score with his father. He needs put Crimson in his place. Crimson proves he's a coward and his control is very fragile. If IMP can get rid of Crimsons' bodyguards then Moxxie can fight him in a one-on-one fight. Moxxie has been bullied by everyone. Moxxie has proven to be a dangerous assassin his own right. Moxxie has some flaws; however, unlike Blitz, Moxxie is able to set things right. He has some things that Blitz doesn't have. I can see Crimson underestimating Moxxie if the two fight each other and Crimson will try to cheat, but Moxxie with the help of IMP defeat Crimson. Moxxie will disarm Crimson. Moxxie shoots him and injures Crimson. Crimson would expect Moxxie to finish him off; however, Moxxie refuse to kill him and thus humiliating Crimson. By defeating Crimson, it would be Moxxie taken back his power what his awful took from it. Moxxie will show him that Crimson will no longer control Moxxie no matter what. What can happen that Crimson snaps that he lost everything and tries to kill Moxxie; however, either Moxxie or someone kills him or Crimson accidentally gets himself killed. Crimson dies and before he dies he see Moxxie alive and well.
    We need to more of Moxxie's full story. Moxxie shown that he's nothing like his father.

    • @AnInsideJoke

      Moxxie doesn't need that. His revenge is living a happy, fullfilled life with a loving, supportive partner and a wonderful romantic relationship and having people around him who truly value him as a person, while it's obvious Crimson will go full orobourous and destory himself with his own greed and ego, dying alone in a ditch somewhere.
      Violence or a giant cinematic showdown against your abuser is often the last thing that someone who has been a victim of abuse needs. In fact, taking that route often leads to the abused becoming abusers to others themselves.

    • @AH-is5yg
      @AH-is5yg Месяц назад +2

      @@AnInsideJoke Well there is a problem, Crimson isn't going to leave Moxxie alone because he didn't like that Moxxie defy him. In order for Crimson to stop, Moxxie will be forced to fight him. If Moxxie can beat him and humiliated him, not kill him, Moxxie would spare him just like Vaggie did to Lute. Crimson's pride and ego would be completely destroyed. Crimson can die by his own flaws after Moxxie defeats him. As long as Moxxie showed him not to mess with him again. Sparing Crimson would be very humiliating and adding insult to it that Moxxie surpassed his father in skill and being a better person.
      I never said that Moxxie needs to be an abuser! Read my comment carefully. 😏
