I am a carryon only person. I recently switched to the Osprey Porter 46. I got it from REI for $83 (normally $140). It only weighs 3 lbs, and I can fit more into it than my normal Travel Pro International carryon. It has nice zippers. Laptop pocket. Hide-a-way backpack straps. ‘Straight-jacket’ sides protect contents of bag. Good compression straps to help cinch stuff down smaller. -it looks to me to be the best travel bag, the only thing I see missing, is a pocket for a water bottle. But it does have a couple spot that could be used to clip on a water bottle. Take a look at one, I got it at that price 2 weeks ago... it might still be at that price. They have a 30 liter version too. The 46 liter version maxes out what you can use for an international carryon.
Awesome, Jeremy! I admire your carry-on only skills. I have three Osprey bags myself! Love their luggage and also day packs. Mine is too big for carry-on, though. One of my friends has the Porter and she really likes it. Compression straps are KEY. I will check that one out; sounds like a super good deal for $83
This backpack would definitely work for me. Those side pockets are perfect for several pairs of my prescription eyewear (readers/eye glasses/shades) in their cases, plus wipes, mints/gum, tissues, napkins, protein bars, etc. I prefer backpacks that only unzip halfway rather than fully unzip. I take my tablet on trips, not my laptop since I’m traveling for pleasure, not work.

Thank you for the review. I have bought the Nordace bag because of the color - overall ok. What I do not understand is the concept of the sideways/horizontal pockets - kind of useless I think.

I love these pockets when traveling in an airport as you simply one-shoulder it & twist it around (under your arm to front) to access credit cards, passport tickets etc on the horizontal.
wow. I'm currently traveling with my Minaal Daily bag and have been thinking about getting the Nordace Siena for awhile now. I love my Minaal but I wish it had more pockets to quickly stash things in the front. The Siena's capacity is 19L volume and the Minaal is 21L volume. I actually JUST purchased the updated version of the Siena, the Siena II, which has a capacity of 22L. I'm hoping to get the best of both worlds between the Minaal and Siena II. Thanks for this video, it was helpful to see the physical comparison between the Minaal and the Siena, I was torn between the Siena, Siena II AND my Minaal daily bag. I think I made the right choice sizing up.

Hi Mika, what are the impressions you got so far from Siena II? Difficult to find any good information in this new backpack especially if the zippers are of better quality now as this was a weakpoint many pointed out for the first Siena. Thanks in advance :)
This is a great review! I really liked how thoughtful you were in showing all the pockets and the potential functionality/non-functionality. I'm with you. I like your previous bag more. I def use compression squares. That one looks nicer than the two brands I've tried! Also, you know.... carry on only for me :).... As for fav bag, I have to rethink everything now that so many airlines are being so aggressive even if you can show them on the bag's website that you meet the requirements/measurements.

@@TravelingwithKristin I don't think you got carried away at all! I'm totally the same way. I'm def a backpack person. I made the switch about 10 years ago, when my shoulder pain was just too great. I started with the lightweight Tumi's Super Legere's bags and backpack series as well as carryon luggage. To me, they were the first to be feminine, functional, and actually light (I have no upper body strength). They are still super functional, but we've come so far now (I loved that you added the weights in your videos). I was stoked to see you preview to help me do my research for next time. Keep posting awesome content!!

Thanks Micho, back at you! I love my Macbook but the keyboard is broken and I can't send it away for 2 weeks to get repaired so I use an external one. Annoying, though! Macs are so expensive

The Nordace bag is nice for vegans, but beige is too light a color. It will look like hell in just a few trips. Great review!
Great point! I saw on the website they have one in a grey color. That's why I bought the dark grey Minaal to hide dirt ;)

Actually it doesen't really stain. I've had mine for awhile now and no stains even though I've kept it on the floor and grass sometimes. It had one mud on it once but it cleaned very easily.

Thule Subterra Backpack 34L.... it barely fits under the seats of flights, but that's because I try to travel without a checked bag, and I cram inside several pairs of clothes along with my laptop. I paired it with "Briggs & Riley Baseline International Carry-On Expandable Wide-Body 21" Spinner" (a mouth-full, I realize) that expands and crunches down nicely, and fits on flights inside Europe.

I have the backpack for 6 months now and it's a nice backpack for daily use and for travel. The only downside is that the straps keep slipping from my shoulder.

It again is on sale, just like always, or should i say it still is on sale?😑 Its lame they do that cause if smth is always on sale, its also never on sale. They wont change the price, no matter what kind of event aperently is. You still get the same price you did on Blackfriday, thats lame, everyone reduces his price on Blackfriday and they just have the normal price, which means 40% off or smth.

I love how fake leather which is cheap and crap has become vegan leather to appeal to certain people and sound special. Hilarious how things work nowadays 🤣 love the review.
How big is the charger? Neither you or the website mentions that. If I felt like doing the math I could figure out how many ltrs the bag is .
What do you mean by how big is it? The USB charger? The Minaal Daily is 21L but I'm not sure about the Siena

I just got the Nordace (in black) in the mail and decided to learn more about it from other consumers and found your very informative video. I carry a travel backpack plus a carry on so this bag works for me..but I'll look into the other brand for a possible future, longer travel purchase. Maybe the next time I go to Japan!🌸Thank you!👍🙂
