  • Some folks have hard time to install low beam bulbs on 2013 Prius. What helps is first install new bulb and after that wire connector.

So refreshing to hear that you are not charging your customer, for the quick fix. I watch other mechanics on RUclips and they usually say "If a customer doesn't pay me, then I'm not fixing/cleaning it." The car wizard won't even wipe down oil from a previous spill, if he isn't paid for it.

The only thing that he has to sell is his labor. If he gives it away for free, how will he stay in business? If he only spent 15 minutes on it, perhaps he could consider it as a marketing expense to get the customer to return again and again. That is a trade-off that he must weigh.

Yes you are right! do not touch the bulb the oil from your hands creates a hot spot on the bulb! It could be a 2000 hour light bulb as an example but could burn out in 200 hours or less. I used to sell all kinds of quartz lamps in my electrical wholesalers job and tried to pass the word on that idea. Thanks for your informative videos 👍 hopefully I can once again get a Toyota vehicle 🤞☘️ happy trails to you all

Those bulbs get so hot that the one with the metal solder (?) on it will probably fail fairly soon. It should crack at that slight mark on the glass envelope. But, you never know. It might outlive the vehicle.
If you ever accidentally touch the bulb glass, you can clean it with a paper towel soaked in alcohol, or acetone, to get the oil off. Spraying the bulb glass with 'classic' tetrachloroethylene brake cleaner might work too. TCE is what they used to dry clean clothes. Mineral spirits might also work, since it evaporates completely. But that would be my last choice. Mom used to wash clothes with it twice a year, before modern detergents were available which could remove skin oil from clothes. How many people today know that? I bet not that many, but it used to be a common thing. I never asked her what they did with the used mineral spirits.

I have seen this issue when the bulb is fully seated in the headlight assembly. Also have also seen this issue if the old bulb gasket sticks to the headlight assembly and you install a new bulb on top of it. That messes the distance up between the bulb and the optics in the headlight assembly.

    • @hellraizer44

You can access the turn signal through the wheel wells. There's a couple of videos here on you tube about it. Basically turn your front wheels as far left/right as possible to gain more access. Use a trim tool to take out two rivets. Carefully remove the wheel well/shield enough so you can access the turn signal with your hand.
