    Incredibly helpful!
Swapped both bulbs on my 2014 Plug-in Prius in record time with the detail here (specifically about how to insert/rotate and how to get polarity right). Even faster than when I used to swap halogen for halogen.
    Thank you!!

Nicely done. Changed a few bulbs out myself plus an older LED swap. It's a bit more work, but the driver's right side (left as you face the engine), it is easier if you unbolt and move that tank that's on the right fender!

Ayeee the lambo got an upgrade wohoo 🥳 !!!! Eric many people say that upgrading is bad because it messes up with electrical connections, voltage issues probably, here in India. But your lights don’t seem to be very extreme so I guess this is a very smart and accurate decision.

    • @thecollegepicker

@@thecollegepicker That’s awesome 🤩 generally, companies cut down on a lot of such essentials to save cost in India. People are also much oriented towards mileage so they don’t care much. Might be an issue here due to cost cutting then.

    • @thecollegepicker

LED uses less electricity thus you should see an increase in mileage but it's probably immeasurable.

Same as @katiearina, I was able to swap both bulbs on my 2014 Plug-In Prius. I acidentally swapped out the high beam bulb first, not realizing there were two (lol-duh). Then using the same method, swapped out the headlight bulb. How to align and turn, plus the purple positive polarity was invaluable. Very easy with your instructions. Thank you!

Same as interior bulbs. Easily accessible from behind. Some owners do different colors. I upgraded to HID and couldn't find any of those bulbs to match the color temp. Always thought they looked hideous from day one anyway so ended up just removing them. Don't miss them one bit. And if you didn't know they were there, you cant tell at all.

I'd welcome any help you guys have with this subject.
I've been battling my passenger side halogen since I first bought my 2010 prius. The bulbs have been dying really fast and even brand new have hardly any light at all (been stopped by a cop more than once thinking they're out when they're technically new). I tried upgrading to better bulbs and it didn't work. I was told by a mechanic I likely had moisture in there so they changed the whole headlight out. STILL not working well.
I bought this very kit you're using here and the bulb isn't even coming on. I read somewhere to use LED's you have to get a decoder kit so I ordered one to try that. More or less, the car's up to 200K miles and I want to get to 300K but this headlight issue is really souring me on this car at this point. I've never ever had any trouble at all with the driver's side one either.

I work nights and go thru headlight bulbs like crazy. Basic low beam halogen bulbs last for about 300 hours. As the brightness of the halogen bulb increases, the life span of the bulbs decreases drastically. Bright hi-beams have about 150 hour life span. I'm switching to LED'S because they last a lot longer and are way cheaper in the long run.

My dad said the bulb mount or something was bolted or soldiered together… basically a permanent connection. He owns a 2011 Prius while I own a 2013. I don’t personally know. I think probably someone had a hard time and a mechanic lied to them and so everyone else believed this same lie.

I added LED on a Honda that came with halogen headlight. The LED was the high end kind with nice size ballasts. It was too bright and looked as if I had the high beams with super bright lights! People hated me and wanted to fight me everywhere I went. I advise against it unless you can get the housing that is built for led or opt for HID instead. FYI he does not have the type of LED that is officially LED. These specific bulbs work fine to get the color but will never give you true LED lighting.

Did you notice the extra cables and that thing like a box, that is connected to the led bulb? that's an external power supply that thing is a failure point it can't be hold with anything... That means that during a road trip that box will be shaking and hitting the engine bay walls... Until it fails or the cable have material fatigue and tear apart or until it stress enough the DC cables from Prius and stop working, You can use a zip lock and tied it in place... But then you came to the same issue... You are creating a failure point Prius light was not design for add-ons I want better lights but I will wait until technology is small enough that I can get LEDs in small factors without the power supply in a box, I want it all in a single house not separated

What really sucks is that the Type S 9005/9006 bulbs I got, don’t fit the Prius. And the gd instructions say to remove the blue locking plate, and the gd plate can’t be removed, despite having replacements in the packaging. I’m pissed right now because the gd bulbs with the proper label don’t fit, and the fix that’s instructed can’t be done. This is a fucking insult. Not your video, but the product I got.

Aw man. This dude is driving with his high beams on.
Me: flicks high beams at CP's lambo.
CP: flicks his high beams and x-rays me with his LED high beams
Me: oh. Not high beams. LED. Nice.
😉 Good stuff man! Can't beat that for DIY. Pretty quick. And huge performance improvement.

Thanks, I've heard they can be blinding if the bulbs don't aim right but it looks to be the same level as the halogen which is designed to point in front of the Lambo not up so much. As long as decent distance is kept I don't think it will blind. 🤞

@@thecollegepicker Yeah, I dunno. I think more and more folks around my area are driving around with LED headlights and they're awfully bright whether they're tailgating or approaching from the front. 😎 I generally don't flick my beams unless I'm certain an approaching vehicle has their brights on...because I noticed when they switched to brights. And that's rare. I think I'm just seeing a lot of (non-OEM?) LEDs around.

Pretty sure it is low headlight fluid causing his halogen bulbs to keep blowing. 😁

Not recommended on Gen 3 Prius WITHOUT headlight washer jets.
I swapped my halogens to LED on my 2012 Prius.
We had slushy snow this weekend. I cleared the slush from the headlights before I drove off. After my 20 mins CITY drive, the snow & slush were stuck on my headlights.
This did not happen with my halogens. Where there was sufficient warmth to provide a warm surface for the snow to slip off.
I do not recommend LED lamps as retrofits UNLESS:
    - you abstain from using LEDs during snowy weather.
    OR
    - your car has headlight wash jets to let the accumulated snow slip off.
In areas without snow, the retrofit will work although the post/board thickness of the LED does create weak spots inline with the headlights. That bowtie light pattern from an LED is not same as the sphere light pattern from halogen.
I’ve tried all sorts of LEDs:
    - Hikari Eyes of Megatron
    - Amazon no names
    - DDM Saber Pro X v2 (this is tops in many review sites)
As long as it’s that dual LED element with no light source at 12 & 6 o’clock, same result. DDM gets better with a thinner post

@@thecollegepicker Look at the top cut-off line in ordinary light bulbs. And as you changed to LED, the light above the line is diffused. It will blind oncoming traffic.
