JC V1S and V1SE Dot Projector Programmer Not Working. Workaround for Unable To Identify This Cable

- Here's why you should NOT update your JC V1S and V1SE.
After countless time spent troubleshooting, swapping parts, flashing updates, messaging vendors, RMA'ing parts & tools, we finally found out why the JC Programmer kept saying "Unable to identify this cable, please contact your seller".
Turns out, the latest firmware has some sort of anti-counterfit measure built in, which does NOT work, causing most all cables not to work. It will not allow you WRITE to the replace JC Dot Projector flex.
I tested many XS and XS Max Dot Projector cables with JC V1S and V1SE, and multiple Dot Projector modules.
Only way to fix it is to have a JC V1S with OLD firmware, V4.7. It does not work using V7.0
So I'm hoping with the release of this video, JC will get the firmware issue fixed & no one will have to deal with this nightmware.

I had the same issue, so I contacted the seller of the flex cables and than JCID managed to allow my programmer (by SN) to write all cables by an update. It is still working with the newest updates. Hope this helps for you too. :)
I heard of them doing this. Unfortunately, JC did not do this for me. We were in contact with them directly & through WGP.

Good video pointing this out I always backup the Flash memory chip I started doing this after they were going to start charging for each time you use it ... Having a backup you can always Down grade

This honestly makes me not want to buy their products. If they can't take the time to fully test their firmware when a customer reaches out, they don't deserve my money. Plain and simple!

Jesse is this go to solution for programming iPhones or do you have something better now? I repair electronics now and wanted to start working on phones. Screen replacement and all other repairs. Money isn’t the issue for me but I want do everything for iPhones from one manufacturer. I was looking to buy a complete set up to the newest iPhone and have about $1K I’m willing to spend to have everything I need.

Hi, I bought a iphone xs max! LCD display crack and back cover is cracked as well. I bought the LCD screen and the back glass. This will be my first time to fix a iphone. I done androids in the past. Do I need to buy the JC c1 or that isn't necessary? I been watching a lot of RUclips videos on replacement LCD screen display non of them have used what you show on your video. Please help?
It's not necessary to program the screen, unless you want to keep True Tone feature.
Hello, i am from Portugal , and had the same issue. But sorry to say this -- the problem is this place that you call "reputable" seller!!! As i said i had this problem , but soon as i changed my supplier the problem was over. So the problem is clear, there are reputable sellers buying copycat flex´s and passing them to us !! if you get a decent jc cable you will see diferences in manufacture. I am not defending JC , not at all, but jc company saw their own products beeing copied , they must be losing tons of money ,to make a software update for this, beware that they are not going to fix this! keep looking for a diferent supplier! and sorry for bad english! my supplier is in spain, i avoid to buy from china, because lately i see a lot of this, and to get warranty or money back is a problem, (mijing for exemple warranty is unexistant) not even to mention the story of buying from china iphone u2 chips and all sent sealed ,as new but then, on microscope i saw they were used and worse in 10 chips , only 1 or 2 were working, so chinese sellers infortunatly they do that!
Hey Ricardo. I can 100% confirm that WGP has genuine JC flex cables and is a direct certified US supplier for JC tools and parts.
This is really a sad news at the moment.... you should have alternative... i like jc tools too but i don't rely on them i also use i2c i6 programmer... and it's pretty good and affordable as well...
Yes I am considering checking out other programmers, just in case I have problems in the future.

It’s all parts. I just bought the jcid v1se and it’s doing this on every part I try! It’ll read all of them but is not burning to any of them and I bought from JC directly even. I’m returning it and trying a different one cause they were useless when I reached out to them for help
Maybe you can find a JCV1S with old software, so it can work
@@VCCBoardRepairs ya scoured eBay after you pointed that out in your vid. I ended up ordering a qanli 2.2 programmer. Buddy swears by their stuff minus the fact they make you buy everything piece by piece instead of complete kits but price wise it’s about the same as the jcids

@@VCCBoardRepairs ya ditto that’s why I originally went with the jcid v1se but thankfully at least with qanli I have someone locally with one already who can help me with any issues. Jcids customer service is absolute joke lol the only response I got from them after a week was similar to yours. Update your software or return it nothing else

This is precisely why I refuse to update anything anymore. I really don’t understand why manufactures have become so obsessed with forcing people to update their software IMMEDIATELY like the whole wold is going to explode if your running outdated software for one minute after the newer version releases.
Especially when about as much testing is put in as a 2 year old puts into their finger painting!
Why are we so adverse to fail safes these days? Why is it so difficult to roll back software? It seems every single day we’re reading about a new update to a new piece of software screwing things up and deleting peoples files ( I’m looking at you M$)so maybe we should start putting systems in place to solve this?
If your going to force people to download your buggy POS software than at least give them a way to fix your crap for you and get the product they spent good money on back into a functional condition 🤬

version 7.69 stil doesnt work, before update software it 4.3 version and it was the same. if anyone knows the solution please let me know

Right? Have the firmware out there so you can at least manually downgrade, just in case the latest version doesn't work

i updated to 7.2 and still same issue
@@VCCBoardRepairs maybe its because 7.0 firmware version that broke the function. i haven't update to 7.0. and straight jump to 7.1 and its still works.
have you trry to unplug the battery, leave it for a seconds,then put it back and test it again ?
So. i'm still watching for "How To Solve Unable To Identify This Cable Fix" and i dont see how do you solve the problem! At the end you say that you went and buy another programmer - thats not the problem solving, sorry!
1. Buy genuine cables & hope it works.
2. Find a programmer with older firmware

jc screwed everyone up by canceling the original flex . deactivating all of them was very dirty with the consumer, I had a lot of damage.

I bought from them jc flexes direct from jc company and I had same isssue I said to them not anymore jc product as they said to me flexes are old I said wtf old ? Really this company need to say to them bye bye then they will notice
