I do agree with that, Bragging looks diffrent. What you show is not just "I made 10 billion in 5 yrs" It shows the "Dark Side" aswell. Good Job on the Video love it and hope ya will have a bit more luck with market prices towards your Benifit :D
Spencer, i like your style. You do a great job at explaining to us what ever youre working on. If you're enjoying the farming lifestyle, the finances and its stimulating enough for you, then continue doing it. We all like watching you videos, thank you for sharing them with us.
@@spencerhilbert I agree, this is interesting stuff. As someone who grew up in a big city on the other side of the world, but might make the sea change to country life for kids, it would be nice to at least bail our own hay for animals
Spencer, as a young farmer and having a young RUclips channel I appreciate you. I hope maybe one day for my RUclips channel to make a little extra money, but you sharing your numbers really helps give an idea of what to realistically expect. I wish I was as good with numbers as you are because your financial breakdowns, and video editing skills are phenomenal!
Glad this was helpful for you. Like you said it’s good to know what to expect. You could make $0 or a million if you work super hard. It’s good to have a side job that has unlimited earning potential.
Thankyou so much for giving real numbers. I try to find real numbers all over the place and can almost never find them. Griggs Farm LLC also has some good videos with specifics. Thanks again
I think you are probably the most Honest person on RUclips . My personal opinion your Neighbors can give you the best advice for your farm and your dirt.
In 1964 my dad bought 160 acres for 16,000. People thought he was a fool for paying that much. The farm next door(about the same acreage) just sold for 9000/ac. In the future you will only regret that you couldn't buy more. Good luck, farming is a very rewarding way of life.
Sixty five years ago farm land was selling for 200 to 300 a acre, today it is worth 7 to 10 thousand a acre. For 65 years you fight the weather, grain embargos, stupid Washington politics and you pay double the rate for social security taxes for being self employed and you have to be paid government payments to stay in business. If farming produced a good living there would be more than 3 percent left.
Property I live on was bought for 20,000 in the 70's really really really expensive land back in those days, now the property and the house and etc is like 5-6 million easy. Huge ROI
Yo Spencer I farm to I love watching other farmers do what works for them and also see new farmers like you start out I love watching this stuff. Keep up the good work❤❤❤
You are young and have just started farming and that is good because you still have a lot of time to succeed. You have a good start for a new farmer. Just be brave and never give up. Some years will be difficult, some ideal, as they say, it's a factory under a clear sky. Best regards from Croatia!

This was heartwarming. Bud and I know grant would never actually take the money anyway. I’m proud of you for making this video seeing the smile on your face. The RUclips money is a bonus for your hard work. You started this journey to spend quality with grant. You can’t put a price on it and we love it
Great explanation. 25 yrs time with expansion, land appreciation and loans paid off you’ll be sitting on a goldmine as long as you can cover your cash flow in the meantime👍😎
The land could temporarily drop in value, but no one can predict that. The important thing is you got your foot in the door. Build equity and buy another piece.
Just a terrific overall job or showing start up costs and expenses and especially enjoyed the land price discussion. Wishing you nothing but the best and seems like you are doing a good job and using RUclips to help you get started was fantastically smart!!! :)
Hey Spencer, I really apreciate the videos and I would love it you post more videos because I love watching the farm transform and I'm growing sweet corn this summer so I would like some inspiration to get out in the field.
gotta pump up that balance sheet for borrowing power! great video. hard to believe what land prices have done in the past 5 years. prices have nearly doubled where i’m at in ND.
My dad inherited our great grandpa's farm last year, around 300 acres, and we are the last biggest beef farm in the county. We do sometimes struggle a bit but we get everything done. Now we're shelling corn, and hopefully we'll get it done soon, but a farmer's life will always be unexpected.

Nice job Spencer! You have bragging rights after clearing the land and growing a nice crop. For a first generation farmer that’s a huge accomplishment. Good luck in the future. Farming is a long term commitment and you are bound to be in the red at the start. This will help make you financially viable in the future.
Way to go! You may have lost a little money, but you're out in the field doing it. You're really on top of things and know your stuff. I'm very jealous. I've wanted a farm since I was a little kid. I'm very jealous.

I was trying to think of when you'd be able to actually profit from farming, considering how expensive it turns out to be, but then I remembered that a lot of your expenses came from actually buying the land, which means that this year you were basically trying to get 0 to start profiting in the next year etc.
Also, considering you should be able to profit in the future, you should be progressively doing better and better, because it will allow you to get your own equipment, eliminating cost of driving or towing combines and stuff back and forth
So it is certainly a journey that's not for everyone, but it IS possible
Great video, I am curious about creating as well. Thank you for breaking down the numbers. Give me a few years and I plan on starting my own farm.
Hi Soencer,
Great video. I usually watch for the farming you do and this time I really enjoyed the financial info.
God bless you.
