Neither did I make they will do a reboot of this film Star Trek Generations isn't a concept I'm familiar with for multiple reasons. Star Trek Generations has the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation at its helm, and considering I'm used to the cast of the original series, Star Trek Generations is a transition for me. Yet it's not a strong one, because it feels like what an extended episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation because it's scale never really feels like that of a film or of any of the previous Star Trek films. By that I mean Star Trek Generation doesn't have an adventure feel to it. It feels more like an episode of a science fiction melodrama, which by the sound of it is what Star Trek: The Next Generation is all about. But considering that this is a big screen film based on the show which chronicles an encounter between legendary Starship Enterprise captains Captain James T. Kirk and Captain Jean-Luc Picard. This sounds like something that the fans would have been waiting for, but unfortunately it's downplayed by a tiny scale and lacklustre script, as well as the fact that it's genuinely not interesting when they share the screen, any moreso than when they hold the screen to themselves. Essentially, the element of combining the presence of Captain Kirk and Captain Picard is seemingly played off as a subplot which has minimal actual effect on the story, as does the subplot of Lieutenant Commander Data being programmed to understand emotions. The basic story of Star Trek Generations is a dull one, with generic plotting and motivations for the characters which are really repetitive and by this point have no dramatic effect like they would have in previous films. After 6 films in a franchise, you'd hope that a 7th with a new cast would bring new ideas to the table. You'd hope it, but you'd be wrong. The plot isn't interesting, and towards the end loses its structural integrity and dissolves into pointless disbelief. And the script isn't anything creative either, because all it really does is say what every audience member predicts, so it has no surprises or serious insight into the minds of characters. Like I said before, it just feels like an extended episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, and it's not afraid to show it. I wouldn't say I particularly hated the film, but it did bore me. It was short on action which made it easier to pick up on all its flaws and weak attempts to dramatise story elements. Star Trek Generations isn't the worst Star Trek films, but it is parsecs away from being close to one of the best. But one aspect is does helm better than any Star Trek film so far is it's top-notch visual effects. Instead of having a terribly cheap look like in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier or looking terribly like an animated film in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, the visual effects in Star Trek Generations feel more real than they have in any of the Star Trek Generations predecessors. As they drift through space, explode and collide with planets, it always feels real, and Star Trek Generations deserves points for holding the best special effects of the film series thus far, visual and auditory. Star Trek Generations is certainly a technical achievement, and surely boasts fine cinematography, production design and costumes for its look. Although it isn't taken advantage of enough, the technical characteristics of Star Trek Generations are strong and for the right viewer it could be a great visual experience. When it comes to acting, the cast really evokes a mixed response. Although Star Trek Generations presents Patrick Stewart with no challenges as an actor or scenes in which he can remind us why he is such a great actor, his general consistency is strong and he does a good enough job. I can't say the same for William Shatner though, because although he significantly tones down his Shakespearian physicality and line delivery, he still does maintain an awkward physical demeanour and monotonous line delivery which gives no reason to call him a good actor. Even his presence doesn't seem strong since he's in a supporting role, and Star Trek Generations just really features one of his much lesser performances. Even the Golden Raspberry Awards agree since they gave him a nomination for Worst Supporting Actor. Malcolm McDowell is a great screen presence though because he has a natural knack for portraying villains, and he plays one who seems sophisticated and scummy at the same time. His character is complicated, and Malcolm McDowell is up for the challenge. Although the character Data doesn't have much relevance to the story, Brett Spiner does a decent job in the part. Levar Burton does the same. And Whoopi Goldberg also does a fine job and gives a good feel to the film. So really, the amateur direction that David Carson supplies Star Trek Generations unfortunately overshadows its exceptional visuals and other technical characteristics. SHOW LESS FLAG THIS REVIEW

They'd be rotating through those frequencies faster than the Bird could adjust her weapons. All the while, the Enterprise could have pasted that ship with phasers and torpedoes. Aside: many moons ago, I read a fanfic that was, believe it or not, an improvement on the film, especially the space battle. Most fanfics are utter garbage, but this one handled certain aspects of the story with great respect. The author offered an explanation as to why Picard chose to "pop" out of the Nexus when he did, and his take on the Duras V. Enterprise involved a serious fight...a Vor'cha and a couple of BoPs, I think? In any case, I wish I could find it now!

Thanks to that, I'm not withholding any thoughts on this video. It looked promising up until looped visor footage and sudden early TNG uniforms out of nowhere... and seriously, I feel that had they opened fire on the bird of prey with all phasers and torpedoes full spread, the Dura Sisters would've been gone and the Enterprise would've gone about their business after some moderate repairs. There is also a thing called shield remodulation, but I know they've spoken about that in other comment sections.

Does Geordi bathe with his visor on, or did he aim his visor at the shower when he bathed? They saw his thing. I'm impressed with the crew's ability of constantly changing uniforms while in battle. Riker's beard grooming is pretty good too. I'm also amazed at Worf's ability of hair growth. Also, I had no idea that the planet the Enterprise D was inhabited by giants who just stood there and laughed as they crashed.
