People who don’t know the game think players today are “more skilled”. Why? Because they can shoot 3s in a league where defense is obsolete. A lot of these guys lack fundamentals and it’s painfully obvious to ppl who actually know the game. But if you call this out, they label you a “hater” or “old head”😂😂😂

The 3s of today are unguarded since the shooter will flail to get a call so the defender now just has a hand up and moves laterally away from the shooter to avoid the call. If yester years players were allowed to shoot uncontested they more than likely would have the same success rate.

These nerds found a way to make themselves relevant by using basic math and labeling it "analytics". We know who can play and who can't. I don't need stats to figure that out. There are too many fake stars in the league now who are allowed to carry the ball, travel, foul bait, and take 15 threes a game even though they missed 12 of them because "3 is better than 2" and "Spacing".

But someone like Anthony Edwards, Lebron, they’re not good mid range shooters. Analytics aren’t a blanket statement on most things. Analytics will say a long 2 from someone who makes them at a ~40%~ is a bad shot where as the same shot at ~50%~ is a good shot. Gotta understand what it’s saying and in what context.

  • @NewEarthSon
    @NewEarthSon 13 дней назад +1

My solution not only for the 3 point spamming but for the NBA product as a whole are the following:
1 Turn to Olympic/FIBA size court and Rules
Mostly everyone liked how Basketball games that the USA played against Serbia and France in the last 2 rounds. KG even said it had a "90s feel" which is the "Golden era of Basketball.
Smaller court dimensions means less space in the half court to get up the 3 and thus would bring back the midrange a bit more. Less minutes in the game also means your possessions mean more so chucking up a 3 wont cost you the game as much as in a NBA 48 minute game vs a Olympic/FIBA 40 minute game
you get the best of both worlds. You still will see the 3 in the game for those that like it such as myself and you also get the old school Big and midrange game back.
This also means call the game strictly by the rule book. NO HARDEN FOUL BATTING OR 5 STEP TRAVEL.
2 Get rid of the Draft. Institute Promotion and Relegation. To get to the point, copy and Paste England Futbol Pyramid Structure and Academy system onto Basketball
Do not know how this would affect highschool, aau and college Basketball but the system that is in place at the moment does not develop the best "Basketball Players". A Teenager thats 14/15 that has all the credentials to play in the NBA right now should be allowed to and should not be restricted because of his age.
3 Get rid of the moronic NBA Cup and get rid of the Playoffs and in exchange just reward the Championship to the team that wins the most regular season games and also have that team along with the 3 teams that finish behind it qualify and play for the Champions league/Club World Cup system
Noah Lyles is right, NBA Champion IS NOT the WORLD CHAMPION. You need a Club World Cup to determine that. You also need this system to determine who is the very best Player "In the World"
4 Get rid of the salary cap.
5 Promote International Competition Basketball More that being FIBA and Olympics which are the International side of Basketball.
If NBA make these changes, Basketball might Rival Futbol as the World Sport.
Basically NBA needs to Futbolized the Sport. Baseball needs to do the same.

    The Fix
    1. Go back to the 1990's Rims and Basketball size and weight which David Stern changed in 2007
    2. Push the Three point line out a foot and do away with it on the side lines or Corners how ever you want to say it. I'm not biased at all cause that was my Favorite Three point shot every now and then as a Point Forward in High School. I would play like Bernard King Cedric Ceballos, David Benoit, Eddie Jones and sneak along the Baselines and sometimes go out to the Three in the corners. They need to do away with that shot though in the NBA for sure. That way players can't just stand around the three point line and they have to move through the lane. Cause the line was always somewhat too close even in the 1990's on the sidelines or corners.
    3. Make the Shot clock 28 seconds and after a rebound it's 28 more seconds. That will make Rebounds MEAN SO MUCH like it was and that is where the real action is on the Boards around the Rim when They're all fighting for the Rebounds.

It seems that people who consider themselves fans of analytics can’t do basic math to know that no matter how good you’re shooting percentages, if you make your first six or eight shots, you’re going to miss 10 to 15 shots to get back to your average.

The rest of the game he went 3-5 and 1-6. 4 made field goals for 9 points from a guy expected to be an MVP contender.
Even Curry only makes 4-10 from three. If he goes 5-5 for a half, chances are low he’ll do better than 1-5 in the second half. So he could be smart and get high percentage shots, but like all gamblers they just can’t believe their luck will run out.

I honestly cant say that I prefer 2 point jumpshots over 3's, I like 3 point shots, I just want them to be taken by players that can hit them. I still want dunks and cuts to the basket, I still want hook shots from players that can make them, i REALLY want free flowing passing and screen setting. I have all of these things since I watch the Warriors. The only thing that I cant accept is the absence of defense and the penalization of defense, seeing players drive to the basket, sticking their shoulder into a defender and then going to the line makes me sick. Also, seeing the more marketable players/ teams getting coddled by the refs makes me sick, it assaults my sense of justice and makes me feel like I'm watching a scripted show like pro wrestling.

The 3 is like the dunk contest when everyone can shoot it well it becomes boring. Just like when everyone can throw down a windmill the dunk contest became boring. It's not analytics. It's just the players have become good shooters. It makes less sense going for layups where you get bruises and bumps when you can just shoot it. Midrange game is tiring compared to spacing out & shooting a j.

Teams just play haphazard and hurried or rushed now. All teams play the Same. The only way a Lesser Roster can beat a better Roster is to play Ball Control and use all 24 seconds and try to get the Offensive Rebound. I remember the 96 Cavs had no Roster and won 50 games by holding the ball the entire game and they would beat Teams like the Sonics 79-77. Cause then the Loaded Sonics wouldn't get in a rhythm and get all their All Stars Enough Shots to get in a Rhythm.
I remember Michael Finley by himself in 1997 beat the Loaded Stacked Jazz everytime 68-67. Yes Finley vs an entire Finals Team. HOLD THAT BALL Don't let Stockton get going with his loaded Roster.
teams today don't play Smart . They just play hurried and rushed. Playing Run an Gun with the 87 Lakers is STUPID!!!! Unless You have More Dream Teamers Than them Which You don't. But I'll bet you Finley by himself could beat the Lakers in 1987. By playing SMART and Holding the BALL!!!!!!! BALL CONTROL!!!!!! Don't let Magic, Worthy, and Kareem have the ball YOU BEAT THEM. But guys now just shoot with 23 seconds on the clock still and give Magic, Worthy and Kareem a MILLION SHOTS YOU LOSE
So now it's just an owners league where who ever pays the most will win. Boston.
