Mind blown! I just set up my new Ridgid saw and was looking for a how to video for squaring the fence. I did not expect to find this gem. What an ingenious idea.
I like it! Great use of the extendable table. Only thought that could be problematic is dust/shavings build up. If you made the fence a box you cold easily attach a vacuum port to hook it up to a dust collector. Only feedback I'd have. The set up is great!
Hey that's a great idea, I've been thinking about something similar. I didn't bother thinking about dust collection because I have a small space and don't have any dust collection system set up. I am moving to a bigger space and hope to set something up. Your box idea with some sort of vac connect on the back should work very well. Thanks for the tip. Cheers
I’m really new to woodworking and I have this exact table saw and I plan to adapt this myself. That being said in reference to the dust, couldn’t you just make the equivalent of a cover to put on there when not in use? Instead of making a spot to lift with the finger, just raise the router to “pop” it
I appreciate this because I have most of the same tools, only I wish I had a fence with a T track in it! The simplicity of this build speaks volumes. Thanks a lot!
Sometimes you see things that make you go,..hmmm, interesting. Then there are some things that just make you feel dumb for not seeing a solution right in front of you. This is one of those, fantastic.
Great video, very creative thinking, and perfect timing. I was just about to add a router table to the left side but I like this SO much better. Thanks for taking the time to share.
Creative, simple and extremely functional. This was a timely find for myself as well ... I'm picking up the Delta variant of the Ridgid R4560 next month and I wanted to do exactly what you just did in this video. About the only difference between what you did and what I'm going to probably do is have a laminate surface on the addition. Other than that, pretty much on board with your design. Thanks much for sharing your design and instructions, it will save me a certain amount of trial and error. Cheers and good luck with your saw and router table.
Thanks, Laminates a great idea. I wanted to do that for my build but was at the beginning of the pandemic and was too much of a hussle to go out. So I used what I had. Good luck with the build. Going to be no friction with the laminate
ok, how to put this? I own the same table saw for quite some time and you've open a new world for my best "portable table saw" ever!!! Even that you took it to the next level, I'll make it simplest, according to my essentials. thank you very much!
Brilliant! Thanks for this very practical and great idea. Perfect timing coming across your video as I’ve been planning on making some sort of setup for my trim router.
Thanks, Good luck with your build. I find it very easy to insert and remove, though its more convenient and space saving to just leave it in when I fold up the saw
I've been needing/wanting a router table and this looks like the perfect solution! I don't have a trim router but this looks sturdy enough to handle my plunge router.
I did have a question about this. I don't exactly want to drill into the table saw but I was thinking...is there a way to make a dado/groove or something so this fits in between? I think I might try your method since I have the same exact table saw. Unsure if I should just screw the 3/4 plywood or mdf together or glue them though.
I just found your video, and LOVE IT! I have the same saw and just ordered the plate after watching your super idea. Thanks for sharing! I am going to subscribe and look at your other videos. Could you make a video on how to make a table saw dado plate for the saw?
I had at least 7 videos in que to watch but watching this one I deleted the rest. Where did you get the mounting plate for the router? Did it come with one? I have pretty much the same router as you used? Thanks and great job!

Really great video and explanation. Does anyone have recommendations on which t-bolts to buy for a Ridgid fence? I'm new to this t-slot stuff and have noticed how many sizes or options there are - it's a bit confusing for a newbie. I purchased the Ridgid ts3650 used and I'm loving it, just wanting to get the bolt situation figured out.
Sweet! Recently got the same saw and have been considering doing this so I am just curious... why not extend the saw plate out all the way and make a larger birch router plate to insert?
Hey thanks for the suggestion. For larger pieces I switch the fence to the other side of the router and it gives a lot more surface on the table to work with.
Very nice addition to this table. Too bad Ridgid removed the fence micro adjust thumbscrew from this model and it's predecessor R4513...fortunately my R4510 is still in great shape.
I was wondering how to use that extendable part on my makita table saw….well thanks to you man cant wait for 2morrow to start Where did u get that metal plate for router?
Thanks for the video! I have a similar saw and was wondering about locking the fence when it is on the plywood. There is a groove on the back end of table top/extension where the fence locks in. Did you cut the groove out of the plywood? How does it lock into place when it is on the plywood section? Thank you!
Hello there. No I didn't have to cut any grooves. Just cut the ply to the same length as the table top. It doesn't interfere with the fence. Locks down just the same as anywhere else on the table.
I got it off Amazon but it's no longer available. All the cheap ones look the same though, except for the paint job. I have a comparable in the video description.
I have your same router and bought the same metal plate to make my router table. Unfortunately only 2 holes on my plate match with the router holes🤔 Did you have the same problem? How did you secure your router to the plate? Thanks
Very nice I have the same table looking forward to following your video to build mine thank you. Does your blade go out of adjustment every time you make some cuts?
Thanks, fence needed some adjustments to get it squared up, but I haven't noticed the blade alignment changing. Only problem I've had so far is part of the dust collector system broke.
@@TheCandolFamily I had a really hard time aligning the blade if I get it to 90 deg one side then the other side is not on 90 so it's really hard to get it right as far as the fence I had to do the same as you.
Hey glad you found it helpful. To be honest I stole the pins from an old book shelf. I did link some pins from Amazon in the description that are identical. One of my pins wasn't lined up correctly and I had to drag the hole. So I used epoxy to set them all after(while installed in the saw). If you have some it will make it much more durable. Good luck with your version
Awesome vid.... looking at buying the r4514 to replace my 18 year old Ryobi BT3100.... how are you liking the performance of the saw? Thanks and have a blessed day
Just bought this table saw and I think I am going to use this great idea, but one question does the table saw still fold up for storage with the rotor attachment left in?
I have not made this yet but I would think it would interfere with fold up, but simply remove and store elsewhere when moving the saw. Love this idea. I will be working on making this this weekend.
You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice ruclips.net/user/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.
This is exactly what I want to do. Any chance you could link to the pieces you used? Also- did you cut the plywood square or have it beveled at all so it sits in easier?
Hey thanks for watching, sure I'll update the description and include my materials. Yes I did square it up. I figured that the 2 pieces of plywood I laminate together wouldn't be perfectly square to each other and would need to be cut if I wanted all 4 sides to be perfectly flush with the table sides and fence rail. Plus if I messed up the alignment of the router insert I could correct that when I trimmed. Instead of putting a bevel or groove on the edge to rest on the fence rails, I used metal shelf pins to line up and hold it flush with the table surface. Thought it might get in the way of the fence sliding over the insert. I did break the top edge with some sand paper just so it matched the edges of the rest of the table. Thanks for the question. Hit me up if you have more when u go make one for your saw.
I'd actually bought it second hand. Not sure if the first guy did or not, but I have noticed that there are 2 spring clips on the front of the fence that if not engaged properly throws the fence out of wack. I always push forward on the springs when I put the fence on Maybe that might help you. Also the fence isn't attached to anything at the front untill it's clamped, so it's best to hold the front face and only the first couple inches of the fence to slide it over.
Yeah I don't have any dust collection equipment so I didn't really factor that in. In the future I might rebuild the fence deeper with a inch gap between the fences were a vac house could mount to. As it stands now...get ready to get dusty
