  • Instead of buying a dado throat plate for your ridgid table saw, DIY! All you need is 1/2” MDF, your saw, a jig saw, sander and a chisel! The first one takes a bit of time, but after that you can’t batch these things out!

Good Job! I am going out to make one for my saw. Thanks for doing all the legwork on this, I was about to re-invent the wheel (again). Thumbs up and subscribed.

Jeff, thanks! I’ve seen a few videos but nothing a quick and easy as yours. Well explained. If I have some 1/2” down in basement, I’m making both the zero and dado stack face plate

It was really straight forward. The first one will give ya a little trouble, but after that it’s super fast/easy.

If you take your wife’s lipstick you can put it on the mounting pads. Then when you put your new insert down it will mark where you need to knotch out your insert.

To make the dado plate, did you notch out with a jigsaw or keep running it through the table saw?

The dado plate was actually way easier to make. After making the zero clearance I knew where to remove material from underneath, and took care of that with a chisel. Once it was laying flat on the saw just slapped my dado on it and slowly raised the blade.
No need to notch anything as the riving knife is removed when using the dado stack.

Is there a throat plate for dado cuts with this saw?

How is the plate held in on the opposite side of your screw/washer solution?

Just with a friction fit. Got rid of that particular saw but never had an issue. Most zero clearance inserts I’ve seen/used rely on friction (like my current saw/throat plate).

Can this table saw use dado blade?

wosh you had a video on this for the R4513. My factory throat plate is terrible....not even flush with the table surface.

I believe that one has a rounded throat plate. Should be the same idea… with a little jig/band saw work!

I really appreciate you for creating this video. The R4514 has been discontinued!!! I cannot find the table saw at all on the Ridgid site. I was searching for parts on 9Mar2024 in Alberta, Canada. There is no lifetime warranty when they stop making the product. Very disappointed about not being able to get parts. Again, thank you so much.
