      Yes he is very underated...what with everyone saying he is one of the best actors, a legend, everyone wants to work with him, directors seek him for roles, people saying he is their favourite. It's a shame he is underated in that way. Or perhaps you don't rate him? Underated by Helen Waters....

    One of the most criminally overlooked actors ever to grace the big screen! Gary Oldman is right up there with the all time greats in terms of ability and dedication, watch the behind the scenes of Dracula to give you a little insight into his work ethic he actually hired a singing coach so he could learn to drop his voice a whole octave to give Dracula that deep haunting voice and carried a photo album with him on set with pictures of his son in it to inspire the emotion he gave to the really deep and powerful scenes. Then we have Drexl and Stansfield to name a few, if you had never seen him play Drexl and someone came to you with the character then told you who they were planning to cast for him you'd probably laugh your arse off! then you watch him and just think ......WOW

    When I first saw JFK, Gary Oldman wasn't well known, and there wasn't internet, so although Oswald's face was known, you couldn't actually see it that often unless you had books, which I didn't. Well, I thought Oswald's parts were all stock footage from the period! Even today I think his performance is absolutely spot on. What a great actor he is.

      Fer Abra than & there (JFK) I know he's brilliant. I watched the movie (great one) and knew he supposed to be in it. Maybe 2 times I watched it, and I couldn't found him in a movie...and when I recognized him, I was stunned... So, I share his thouhts- that's also my fav.part he played

    • @LittleB2007
      @LittleB2007 6 лет назад

      Oldman was absolutely mesmerizing as Oswald but how could you even think it was a stock footage when you saw Oswald actually conspiring with Clay Shaw, having sex with his wife, firing from the Book Depository window, killing the cop etc.? lol

  • @maxwright9733
    @maxwright9733 9 лет назад +3

    I played Lee Harvey Oswald in a theatre production about his interrogation and it was easily my favorite role of all time and part of that was the intrigue of studying the character of who he was and then trying your best to channel that while trying to model your mannerisms and speech on what little video and audio footage you could find, so I definitely understand where Oldman is coming from.

  • @Garyinspired95

    you guys need to chill out. Gary Oldman's a fantastic actor. Everyone stutters a bit when they talk- especially British actors (with the exception of Daniel Radcliffe, my lord that boy can talk fast!). Whether he stutters or not, that doesn't change his ability to act well. I don't know about anyone else, but frankly, I'm disgusted with how rude and childish some of the comments below are. Calm down, guys. Geez, it's just an interview....

    • @edenprison9212
      @edenprison9212 3 года назад +4

      Actually, I've always been impressed by stuttering actors/actresses who, when acting, just shut it off. It shows how good they are, going beyond their inner parts. Oldman is known as a sweet person, but this guy can be frightening af. Great actor.

      Not winning any major awards for his incredible job in many films was always a sore for his fans I guess. Yes those awards are frivolous but "Oscar-winning" would've been a nice adjective for an actor of his skills. Now that he IS an Oscar-winning actor, I love how he is not letting it go to his head. Says he's enjoying the brief moment in the sun but it'll eclipse and someone else will be in the spot next year. A very healthy attitude in a place like Hollywood imo

    As a kid, I would watch the beginning of Dracula, and not even realize it was a movie. Oldman was sick as Vlad the Impaler

    One of my favourite rolls he played was a very small one in an episode of friends where he is an actor that's working with joey its so funny!

    Scrolled through dozens of comments. Not a single mention of his Mason Verger role is perplexing.

      I am fascinated by not only his work in that role, but why it is uncredited, when it is such a major part of the film "Hannibal". I wish he would discuss that in length sometime. This guy operates on the same level as Olivier, Peter Sellers and Daniel Day Lewis, in my opinion.

    You folks should also check out his amazing performances as Joe Orton in Prick Up Your Ears and Sid Vicious in Sid and Nancy (aka Love Kills). They were the first two I saw him in and made me an instant fan.

    Is he wearing the same sort of "friendship bracelet" on his left wrist in real life as Drexl in True Romance?!

    For me personally, his best role was Mason Verger in Hannibal.

    Very talented man . He metamorphisizes into these characters like few actors can . They should have put some padding on him for THE CONTENDER . Make him look like a real congressman-thick and rich.

    Brilliant film. Brilliant performances. Loved this film so much, so I am mystified why they are not doing the sequel, Smiley’s People???

    My favorite performance of Gary’s would have to be “state of grace” as “Jackie Flannery” amazing...

    Sexiest man alive, and insanely talented! Checkout young Gary in Track 29...obscure and super intruiging. From Sid Vicious to Sirius Black, I mean, come on!! Wonderful.

    Think can you remember Gary giving a bad performance, he is one of the worlds great actors, he played in Immortal beloved as Ludvig Van Beethoven and he was great there, I saw him play with a very young Natalie Portman in 'The Professional", very good there I can not think of him giving a subpar performance. That can not be said about a lot of people in that profession.

    I know it's just me but Oldman will forever be Rosenkrantz for me. Tim Roth as the straight man was not bad at all but Gary completely stole the show with his comedic flair.

      He's very humorous but no comedic roles were probably ever sent his way
