      Hello Kaostribe, thanks for your support; much appreciated. The Tarp is a DD Tarp, 3x3-Green. I purchased it from Self-Reliance Outfitters. Stay Safe.

    I bought a 10x12 tarp to use, but it doesn't have a the tabs for tie offs on it like yours does. Is that a special Bushcraft style tarp?

    • @thevirginiabushcrafter8833
      @thevirginiabushcrafter8833  2 месяца назад +3

      Thanks for your Support Bushcraft Explorer. The tarp is a 10x10 with 19 tie offs and it works well. I have a few 10x12 tarps that are limited with making different configurations. But get a 10x10 with 19 tie offs and you are good to go. Stay Safe.

    I'd like to recommend that you look up Permethrin. Its much better then deet. You can coat your gear an it stays for more then a month.
    Also you can buy it very cheap and mix it yourself or buy sawyer.
    Just thought this might be useful especially because deet will destroy anything it comes in contact with like backpacks or certain plastics.

    • @thevirginiabushcrafter8833

      @@richardhenry1969 Hello Richard and thanks for commenting; much appreciated.
      Yeah, I use Permethrin as well. I like it because it treats your clothing and gear up to four treatments. Then each time I go out I spray down with feet; can never be to cautious I guess. But I didn't know you could purchase it and mix it. Thanks for that information. Also I didn't know about the destruction of deet; that's good to know.
      Stay Safe

    Nice campsite…the tent would be great in cooler weather you might want to get a bug net and fly your tarp as an A frame or diamond to get a bit of breeze. Practice fire safety in this weather too…Have fun stay safe.

    • @thevirginiabushcrafter8833
      @thevirginiabushcrafter8833  2 месяца назад +1

      Hello Kenneth, thanks for dropping in; much appreciated. Yes, I'm looking forward to cooler weather with the configuration, but I just wanted to practice it. I've used a Fly Tarp over a suspended bed and that worked well; provided a nice breeze. And with the fire one must be extra careful because of the dry leaves. Stay Safe.

    I've been curious for some time now how a large person like me might need to modify the chair in order to accommodate our bulk and weight.

    • @thevirginiabushcrafter8833
      @thevirginiabushcrafter8833  2 месяца назад +1

      @@FreedomTooBe Hello Freedom Too Be. Thanks for dropping in and thanks for your Support. To construct a chair to accommodate you is no problem because Mother Nature provides everything you need.
      I would first gather tree trunks that are at least 2 inches in diameter and 8 feet in length; that would take Care of the Tripod. Then for the crossbar at the bottom I would use the same, a 2-inch in diameter a d 8 feet long. Use about 15 feet of paracord for the Wrap and Frap and about 10 feet of paracord for the square knots which attaches to the Tripod. Hope this helps. Stay Safe
