Restrictions spawn creativity. Vlad plays a smaller kit than their previous drummers yet he's by far the most technical and creative one they've had. Then there's the fact that Roman is now the only guitarist in the band. That has led, in my opinion, to much more interesting guitar parts that need not only to sound cool but fill up space too, which is helped by Eugene's phenomenal bass lines. Perhaps none of this makes any sense and they've just decided to change their sound for sake of experimentation, but in any case this band is fucking great and there's no denying that

51 yr old musician here (bass since 1985)... I have watched Metal evolve from its very inception. From a musician's point of view, Metal kinda "stagnated" over the past 20 yrs. Discovered Jinjer 2 yrs ago and been hooked ever since. Long story short, Jinjer sets new standards with every new song. Jinjer is The Future of Metal.

    • @tremapar
      @tremapar 5 лет назад +38

I agree that Jinjer deserves every ounce of praise that you give them, but there are a decent number of bands out there that have been keeping metal interesting this past decade and definitely haven't stagnated. Shylmagoghnar, Eluveitie, Shade Empire, Wintersun, Thrawsunblat, Mistur, Ne Obliviscaris, Slugdge, Haken, Enshine, An Abstract Illusion ... just scratches the surface of my list. I'm sure everyone has their own groups that they consider to be leading the genre forward too.

I love the song and I adore Jinjer but the message "human = evil" is a 16 yo emo edgelord statement. Homo Sapiens has been existing for over 200.000 years and everything was fine until about 12.000 years ago. That means humanity was a species that lived in harmony with the rest of the planet for 188.000 years. We have a cultural problem not a species problem. And we use to euphemize that problem as "civilization".

This crazy song has 8 highly distinct movements in less than 3 1/2 minutes. I call it "heavy jazz", especially the first movement, which I didn't like at first. The song is now one of my all-time faves.
The transitions are just insanely good, & I especially enjoy the transitions from 6 to 7 & 7 to 8. Section 7, with its bluesy vocal lines & open instrumental feel coming right off of a blast beat, is my very favourite...but it's important to realize that part of the reason it's so satisfying to listen to is its position within the song.
What masterful a work of art.
    "Ape" Movements:
    1. The Beginning of All Beginnings (begins 0:07).
    2. Voracious Ape Who Walks Upright (begins 1:01).
    3. He Who Calls Himself Intelligent (begins 1:15).
    4. I Made a Mistake When I Created You (begins 1:33).
    5. Oh Here You Go (begins 1:43).
    6. Blast (begins 2:09).
    7. Just the Mention of Your Name (begins 2:22).
    8. Bloodthirsty Ape Who Walks Upright (begins 2:52).

For me, the most interesting thing about the song is the lyrics and how well they are tied up with the music. The whole song goes back and forth between two primal stances / feelings: Awe and Belittlement, or, Wonderment and Disparagement, if you will.
The Creator both fears and mocks his creation, and the way the music flows between those two marks is simply astonishing!
After listening to this song for more than 10 times, I still want to listen to it. I feel as I haven't unlocked all of its secrets yet... Mesmerizing...

This. So much all of this. True be told, I didn't like it the first couple times and it took multiple listens. The very beginning really strikes me. The way it is played gives a false sense of structure displaying "chaos" and Tati just goes right into it I believe as the "Creator" giving order over the song while portraying both the scientific and divine aspects of our existence and final end, a threat, either by nature or divine intervention. Whole band is spot on and the lyrics are once again amazing as always!

It's kinda hard to get into this song at first listen, but after you understand the math behind it it'll grow a lot on you!
That blast beat part in the middle is so awesome! The lyrics are great too!

I had to take Vector Calculus to understand this song. Totally worth it!
