Ever since we knew we’d be visiting Japan, booking a traditional ryokan experience was on the tippity top of Chad’s priority list. 📋 He had experienced one all the way back in 2016, and he was *dying* to have me experience one for myself. 🥰 After just two short nights at this ryokan in Hakone, I totally get what he was hyping up, and now, we BOTH highly recommend this experience to any traveler passing through Japan!!! 🧖🏻‍♀🧖🏼 Seriously, you won’t regret it! 🍱 Next week, we release our final Japan video (!!!) 😱, and it’s going to take place in Kamakura. 🇯🇵 Time absolutely FLEW in this country! 😁

FYI, in Japanese clothing such as Yukata, Kimono or Judo wear, the left-side will always come in front. The right-side in front is for attending funerals as well as when you clothes the dead.

You are absolutely correct. The staff should have corrected them. Also, the socks with the big toe separated from the other toes are designed to wear with the zori or geta. I once corrected a school teacher regarding this during a Japanese parade in which the students were not wearing their kimono with the left-side in front. She immediately had the students adjust their kimono collars.

What a great Japanese lodge for rest and relaxation. The food was really inviting. The thing about Japanese and Oriental food is that all of it is healthy. You can over eat and it is not harmful. Enjoyed the tour of your personal accommodations and of your personal mountain, hot spring to wound up the end of the day.

'I'm Japanese. Hakone itself is a wonderful tourist destination. Besides the hot springs, there is a viewing ship and lake, museums, active volcano raising a plume of smoke, sightseeing trains and cable car, and a shrine where you can have a great view of Mt Fuji. It's a small complete tourism package of Japan.

Enjoyed following your Japan adventures. A stay at a ryokan in Japan is such a great way to experience the culture and to really relax.
Also, as another poster said, the proper way to wear the yukata is with the left side overlapping the right side. The right side overlapping the left side of the yukata is used for those who have passed away.
Normally when using an onsen, you shower first and go in without clothing. So that the water stays clean. But, yes, it would have been difficult to film that part. 😅
