      @jurpo6 5 месяцев назад +190

      Not much different than light 308 loads. It only has a slight edge because of the 2piece cases handle more pressure. The 308 will eat less barrels and cost less to shoot.

      A POF Revolution 16" would be around the same weight as that 9" Spear(~1884 ft-lb), and provides ~2480fps with 168gr GMMK(~2294 ft-lb).
      A normal 16" 308 would be way less concussive, no NFA BS, and you would be able to find ammo for that; it may not be the case for full house 6.8 tho.
      For a round designed to be more powerful than 308. Cutting it that short means all the lost ft-lb from the bullet adds into flash and sound.😨Sure suppressor can help, but that will really cook the suppressor along with the muzzle end of the barrel.

If Mike likes it and it makes him feel better and he is ok with the side effects he made his choice. Millions of people smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol, they also made their choice. Fun Fact: THE fully automatic flashbang launcher, the HK51 fires 7.62 NATO out of a ~8 inch barrel.
    Another fun fact: The Spear's suppressor not only serves to reduce the report of the rifle but also to prevent the operator from suffering a concussion.
    Magdumping the screamer Army ammo out of this perfectly average length rifle would probably give you a TBI.

    The Garmin is supposed to be BEHIND the muzzle! 5-15" behind and or off to the side and it still picks up fine. I put a mount on my PRS rifle, and it just stays on the rifle and picks up every shot. There's also a diving board mount out there to mount it on the scope.
    It's Doppler radar. It take the velocity readings about 20 yards in front of the muzzle (couldn't get a reading any closer). You don't need to shoot over it like an old sky screen that measured timing between shadows.

    I have the Spear 16" 308 and the Spear LT 11.5" 556, that rail deflection thing is real!
    Mine were both super noticeable, out of the boxes because SIG forgot to torque the screws. I could turn them with a bit and my fingers. Even torqued to 60/40, my LT fell over and rail deflection was visually noticeable and held. Had to loose screws to straighten it out so the barrel didn't look bent.
    I can't even imagine the force that steel tab on the rail that the takedown pin passes through, must be putting on the receiver when this happens. It acts like a giant prybar. I'm shocked the barrel clamp can handle the sudden impact and force. First time I had the issue I bought Arisaka ZRC's for both but honestly, I ended up just removing those and now I don't run rail screws on either, problem solved. I no lasers on the rails and my irons sit solely on the upper receiver. LT has Unity T2 mount with OMM coming soon.
    Once you understand the limitations and know how to work around them for your needs/wants, these are nice rifles. These are battle rifles, not DMR's!
