    If you could have your wives do a podcast on what it’s like to be a wife of special operations officer. That would be helpful to us women who have husbands going in. It’s hard to imagine on our end. Especially when we have kids already.

      I definitely agree. I'm planning on making a switch from Army to Air Force (hopefully they're taking prior service for these career fields) however, my wife fears we won't be able to grow a family, which I know won't be the case but having other wives give out their point of view would definitely be awesome and probably help me get mine fully on board. Thanks a lot for the videos, very informative!

    Just an FYI on AF BMT - due to COVID - there's no "graduation" anymore. Hasn't been for months (Since March 13th). Everyone who has graduated can't see their families until after the DOD lifts the Quarantine and lockdown on base. So, if you're watching, and entering, don't expect to see your families after BMT. It'll be a long time until you can see any of them - this for majority of people who enter.

      BH, That is unfortunate, color vision standards, especially the new color vision test (Rabin Cone Contrast Test) really identify color vision defects. There are new glasses and contact lenses on the market to improve color vision, but not authorized USAF SOF personnel.

    I am a prior Navy Corpsman with 2 tours under my belt, I used to do triathlons and be in incredible shape. Got out in 2016 and went to college and got my bachelors. Been working as a Cloud Engineer for 3 years, sitting on my ass becoming a semi fat body. I am 34 and could get back in shape within a year. Do you think it’s realistic for me to pursue a STO career, I’d stay in until they make me leave. Working as a Cloud Engineer has shown me what my soul truly burns with desire to do. I’ve missed the military everyday ever since I got out. Thanks guys!!

    Would y’all do be able do one on prepping physically for SERE A&S? A1C trying to cross train. I’m a pretty good runner so I’ve been working a lot of pushups and pull-ups trying to far exceed the standard with strict form. My feet are already kind of accustomed to being in boots and standing all day due to my current job. And I have a weighted vest coming in soon that I’ll be wearing all the time. Aside from all the usual calisthenics, what can I be doing to physically prep? Should I try to show up as fat as I can while being able to exceed the standards? It’s very hard for me to put on body fat should I be drinking mass gainer shakes to put on a little bit of weight before I end up going?

    Wait so if I'm finishing basic and go to the pipeline, will my Wife(and kid) get BHA to live back in SD? Because I'm obviously going to be housed during the pipeline, what happens to her living situation until she's able to be with me in kirtland?

      You should've been getting BAH from your HOR(Home of Record)while in BMT. After BMT, your BAH will be from where you are stationed at. Your housing will be free, as if you were on a short tour overseas and live in the dorms, and the BAH will be Dependant rate BAH. If you are going TDY for your training, then you will continue to get the BAH from you HOR, but if you are PCSing then you will get BAH off of where you are currently stationed. Hope this helps, feel free to ask more questions, and good luck to you, stay motivated!

    I don’t think we got a solid number on when our wives can come on base. After a few schools, how many months is that?

    • @OnesReady
      @OnesReady  4 года назад +8

      It's tough to give you a no kidding amount of time because your length of time in the pipeline depends on a few things. Your class start dates as an example because many of the courses are joint schools and they don't line up perfectly from school to school. Also if you get recycled or injured, this could also delay that time. So best case, 12 months, worst case 24 months. This does not mean you cannot take leave between schools because you can. Also your spouse could come and visit you at some schools or even between schools. Sorry we can't give you a definitive answer on it, but there are a lot of variables to this. (Peaches)

    Probably the wrong video to ask on but what is it like or have you met anyone who has cross trained from a complete unrelated AFSC Mx, Med, Ops etc like regular AF? What is the transition like for them especially if they have been in and made rank, what is the experience of a cross trained regular af or an NCO coming from a different career field.
    Love the podcasts I am coming up on the end of a regular AF life and looking to cross train.

    • @OnesReady
      @OnesReady  4 года назад

      We get crosstrainees from all AFSCs and sister services all of the time. If you have a family, ensure you're being open and honest about what they can expect. Thinking about a 1.5-2.5 year pipeline where you're going to be gone (not the entire time) a lot. You're going to deploy and train your ass off once you're on team. Your quality of life will be fantastic!

    Hey one's ready, if I go special warfare. Do deployments go longer than specified if there is a need for you or the team you are on? Do Air Force operators get to take advantage of those dieticians, fitness coach, etc... During a deployment? Or are those only for when you are in the states at your station?

    • @g-rocks6548
      @g-rocks6548 3 года назад +1

      It really depends on the deployment and where you're at. If your at a more developed AB, then those resources should be available to you. In not so developed AB, where it's just the bare minimum, then you'll likely have individuals playing more then one role to try to keep the welfare of it's personnel in check. Deployments are usually a set amount, but don't be surprised to stay a month or months lo German than what actually on your orders. It really depends on the situation, and the dynamics between the US and whatever mission your MAJCOM has set for your unit.
