Maybe becoming a police officer, firefighter, or something like that would be much better for him. Since he’s already established his family maybe try something locally to serve your community and country.
Hey jake, i'm considering applying for EOD officer, would like to have your opinion on a few things. I'm currently 29, single, no kids, in good shape. 1.5 run - 10:23 450m swim - 10:35 pull ups - 12 push ups - 73 sit ups - 70 Bs Degree in Electrical Engineering. GPA 2.85 Prior service. was considering applying for Sep2022. any advice on what avenue i should take? (I'm also not against flying planes)
I went to AT school for 6 months. I never touched a multimeter. All bookwork. When I got to squadron, I was washing planes and working in the galley. It didn't matter if you wore a rate badge, that's just the way it was. Officer or nothing, unless you're ok with wearing a paper hat for less than minimum wage.
@@RatedPGforOG TONS of people wanna go AF, just had a friend get told he would have to wait 3 months to enlist if he wanted to go AF but marines took him in ASAP. And that was with a stellar ASVAB
I truly would tell that guy to review science and math because 50% of that school is about math and science. I know Rangers that are EOD qualified. That school has more reclass than any A school I’ve seen. RQQ Team
Dude's got way too many responsibilities. Should take the police entrance exam and try out for SWAT. He missed the military boat by a few years, I'd say...unless he was now 28 and single with no dependents. Maybe go SELRES. Navy Reserve is still honorable and he'd still be a part of the system. But being a cop, he'll likely be at home way more for his fam. Plus, you still get to carry a gun and do cool things as a LEO. As well as the police union, retirement, and healthcare benefits for his fam. But the family thing is huge. Main thing is that the dude needs to be there for his kids. That's the biggest thing for him to take home.
He’s going to need a waver to go EOD schools. It would be better for him to join the army and he’s married!!! The Navy takes that family serious but, not Spc ops.
I failed out of ARMY EOD school along with a lot of smart people. If your not gifted in Math, Physics, and learn fast you will fail. One officer with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering did well.

GPA is low but you have EE degree so it’s not bad.
My opinion is, if he really wants to go into the military is to get his degree and go in as an Officer.
