Thanks for sharing this rebuild. Really enjoyed it so far. As with another I was disheartened to see the gold get covered but I understand and was glad to read you planed on putting a fresh coat of gold back on it.

It hurt to paint over it! It was so close to being salvageable but in the end it seemed worth it to freshen it up.

I am also bringing a 71 back to life...my interior is very rough from years of water damage. I'm excited to watch you and let you do research on boring things like appropriate primer! Thanks for the confidence I'm getting watching you revamp this camper before I tackle mine!

It’s a big job but it’s been a fun process. I keep uncovering more water damage on mine too…more of that to come in future videos!

Are you going to do a final paint video?

    • @bakermakesit

Yes, but probably not for some time. I want to make sure I'm totally done with all the inside and that nothing will be changing on the outside, so that will likely be one of the last steps

Why did you spray over the gold accent strips?!!! I own a 1973 29' Rambler; all original, and I plan on repainting it in the next year. I've watched your series for tips, but you lost me here. The gold accent is a big part of what makes the Rambler iconic.

I totally agree, and we're going to repaint them. They were in pretty rough shape. I went back and forth on that for a while, but ultimately decided to put a fresh coat of gold on it!

Did you have the colors to paint it the gold and tan?

How did you get the window trim so shiny?

I used red scotchbrite pads to scuff them

How much paint did it take to spray paint the trailer each coat? How long is it?

Best I can recall, it was around 6 qts total for a 23' body. In hindsight, I should have used a bit more to level out the finish a bit more. I would plan on two gallons for something like this. Keep in mind, that is the amount before mixing, at a 1:1 ratio, so it was closer to 12 qts sprayable.
