I've been riding for around 38 years and I love watching videos like this just to see how what I feel is important compares to what others feel is important. And I like to look at it as there is more than one way to do things so my way is not the only way. Oh ya great video.
Absolutely man! I really appreciate viewpoints like yours as well. They are often the most thoughtful and have the best suggestions. Thanks for being here man!
1 used to ride When I was 19 years old until I was 22 and then I got Mary I got kids I got busy. And then time went by here I am at 40 years old trying to get back on BMX something that I really love it when I was practicing. And hear you giving this great advice It makes me feel good and it makes me very excited to go back to BMX once again. Thank you 👍
This has helped immensely. My journey has been pretty isolated and I have been focusing on holding up a wheelie, the manual, and bunny hop. My obsession to ride daily led to three major roadblocks. Bad sprained wrist from trying to BunnyHop and Handlebars gave and I crashed... I lost like 15 lba..but I was only 135 to start..and the final blow was a crash that bent back rim on tire. Won't rotate. Do I get a new bike? 2020 haro downtown dlx is a great intro but repairs might be almost 200??? What to do?
Thank you Brant. I'm a newish rider(46 yrs and just getting back into it after 30 years) all of wht you said in this vid make perfect sense. Again thank you for your vids. Keep em coming.
I can relate, I'm 44, never rode a BMX until last weekend.Bought one second hand because there's a pumptrack being built next to me and its too much a hassle to keep changing my MTB tyre, fork pressures and what not and it was way cheaper than a DJ.Met some riders there while riding my hardtail and that led me to the skate park and buying a used BMX, what struck me is how friendly everyone was and supportive of the novice trying to drop in a bowl for the first time.Only took once..I'm hooked, although have pretty near zero BMX skills :)
Actually got kicked out of an area yesterday for the first time. I'm not good enough to actually do anything aside from hopping over things, def not able do a proper wall ride etc. He was nice about it and I reciprocated. It was a pleasant interaction. I was just hoppiny over some curbs and ledges and manualling in the lot. And I'm goofy footed >
I'm putting brakes on my bike because the bottom of my 2 month old vans are flat I watched your tutorials and they are very helpful thank you for making tutorials they help a lot.
Good tips Brant, I'm glad you put etiquette as your first tip because its definitely one of the first things to learn and help prevent a lot of accidents.
Awesome tips bro. I seen a young guy on Mike's videos the other day. Can't remember if I pointed him your way but I will check and make sure I send him.
Law #1 that I never learned properly back in the day? You cannot spring up if your legs are straight. Thy legs must be bent when pulling front wheel up or hoppest thou shalt not. If thy legs are short squat down you must.
@Brant_Moore when I started back on the 20” (after I lost interest in my road bike) the first thing I wanted to know was why did I suck so hard back in the day? It was because I never learned to hop properly. Even with so many great RUclips vids on hopping I almost never see anyone mention that you can’t do it right if your legs aren’t bent to some degree.

Thank you Russell!
100% right there! I wish I would've thought to mention preventing accidents with it too
Living legend !
Idk if I'd go that far! Thank you so much!

Thanks Sean! I appreciate you!
More great advice. Thanks man.
Street etiquette isn't talked about enough!
To be honest, I hadn’t ever even thought of it before planning this video
@@Brant_Moore You could make an entire video on the subject. Some things depend on the city/state/country
I’d need to consult someone way deeper in the game. Haha I definitely care about way different things than most
First rule of street etiquette is a freecoaster hub so you don’t wake up the dudes sleeping on the ledge next to you.
What up, my guy.... Thanks for the tips.
Hey hey! I’m always happy to help!!!
@@Brant_Moore don't I know.. We appreciate ya, man.
Good video Brant!
Thank you!!
Bro I'm 5'4' and can I ride the 20t BMX?
I just found out I'm a goofy rider. I'm still new
Nothing wrong with it though! Just something to keep in mind as you learn!
I wanna know if this guys hands are literally this huge irl
Haha just the fisheye man. I have little hands

That’s a good point! Maybe 5 more things to learn will come next

That’s a really good point man! It’s on the list for the next one and I’ll make sure to give ya a shoutout for the idea!

At least it’s not snow yet!!
