Hi Jerry, We both fish from the shore and that means we must wait for the fish to come to us. If we had a boat, we could move around much easier and go to deeper water and find the fish. As I always say, " Fishing is fun and catching a fish is a bonus." Good luck and have fun, Mickey
"How do you share happiness?" I just watched this while feeding my 9 month old granddaughter...that's how! She seemed to like this video...put said she liked the pickerel video better...🙂😃
Been tying and fly fishing for over 50 years. If every time I didn't catch a fish felt like a miserable day I'd of had alot of them. Many times the expectation is enough. Your video felt like sharing happiness. Thanks. PS love your accent. It's sounds like Tony Soprno goes fly fishing.
"the expectation is enough," just perfect. There certainly is a expectation but something about fly fishing never leaves with disappointment I think he would like fly fishing.
Jerry, One of these days I’m going get a fly rod and reel and give this a try. Your videos have tempted me many times. Still no sign of herring. Later and later every year. Take care
Thinking about it won`t get you a fly rod... just get it. You can get a nice combo for fresh water for $150 for a 5 or 6 weight like me and Jerry and for $100 more a nice salt water combo in the weight range between an 8-10 weight, I have a 10 and I think Jerry has a 9. Size is a matter of preference usually but wind conditions and fly sizes you throw will matter. Check with Bass Pro they are a good source of product and info and will teach you how to fly cast. If it`s to cold for the salt try fresh water for pickerel as they bite good in the cold, check out Jerry`s last video. Peace and brother love to you and all.
when people appreciate another person's actions / values / beliefs and they respect each other,,,,, then you have a recipe for experiencing "happiness" and of course catching a legal blackfish or fluke from the shore is. uh also the definition of happiness, perhaps even bliss lol I have yet to catch my first legal Blackfish or Fluke from the shore and I am 66 and running out of time
I`ve been away from fishing the salt for close to 30 years and plan on getting back into it this coming year. Jerry has been an inspiration for me and a great teacher as well. I bought a 10 weight fly rod a few years ago and am looking forward to using it this year for the first time, money`s tight (SSDI) so I have a tight budget... a few 2 oz. stingsilvers are in the plans for next year as well, courtesy of Fish Your Way. When I use to fish the salt I didn`t have anyone to learn from I basically soaked bait, Jerry has changed that. I have never caught a striped bass in all the years I did fish the salt and I`m 67 years old with a 200/100 b.p. yes I`m on meds, you sir and I have some fun to look forward to... I`m not dead yet. Peace and brother love to you and all.
Watching your video before the sun rises here is very calming. I've fished bait, lures and flies. Of all these ways fly fishing is the most fun. So many decisions about which type of line, How fast or slow to retrieve. What thickness of tippet. How to use the current to make the fly look like a real baitfish. I notice a file in your sling pack. In a future production could you explain and demonstrate how when you sharpen a fly. One thing I like to do is the night before a fishing trip tie up a special fly to use the next day. Thanks Jerry.
Nice thing about trying fly fishing for stripers is there are situations where you don’t need to be a technically advanced caster. And when you do (say if there’s a lot of wind, you need long casts to reach them, etc.,) you can always fall back on your conventional tackle.
It`s not as hard as you think, I taught myself and you can too. Your practice area is any lawn you have access to that covers the area of your cast. Some people I think talk like fly fishing is some great achievement to impress you with their greatness " that`s a joke "! Watch a few videos and practice what is shown and you will catch on pretty quickly. Not only is fly fishing one of the most productive styles in my opinion, the sight of the fly line moving through the air is relaxing and meditative as well, one more thing to note is dry flies and popper fishing will flip you out with excitement. Jerry has a lot of fly fishing content and you can learn a lot from him. Good luck and get started, Peace and brother love to you and all.

One must be "ever-waiting, ever-willing and ever-working to fish" successfully
Very true !
When you watch a Jerry video you feel like you really went fishing. Best there is
I would not go as far as great, but they are OK - they do bring me GREAT satisfaction to share with you
Thanks for taking us fishing again Jerry.
More to come!

Won’t be Here till January due to massive commercial overfishing. Biomass is only at 21 percent of expected numbers.

Thanks Ted, I will keep in mind doing a video on sharpening a hook.
I have never done fly fishing before.

everyone deserves to keep up their morale. Everyone I encouraged to fly fish becomes dedicated to it. Save the spin gear for windy days.
It may change your life always for the better
The process of the grind is the passion and perseverance #fishyourway
Not a grind at all but does sound good! Thanks wormway!
Much respect to you for getting out there and giving it a shot on the fly rod🫡 seems like the holdover bite is really tuff to find in NY
Yes, the holdover bite can be a hard one we must make the day about a experience rather then fish as is fishing
