  • Daniel Roberts (@danielroberts_ar) has an obsession for chasing one of the more challenging fly fishing targets brought to fresh water, the striped bass. During the cold and cloudy days of winter while most are indoors, you can find Daniel cruising our beautiful Ozark lakes in pursuit of a hefty top-water target. It ain't easy catching these grey ghosts, but Daniel has it dialed in! Take notes as we break down the Seven Steps to Catching a Striper in "Striper Season". #ozarksonthefly #striperseason

Perhaps the best video of this type I have seen. I have watched several times, and forwarded it to others on my email list. Big fish, loyal dog, pleasant young man, and expertly produced video. Thanks, amazing work.

I can't wait for June. I've caught the fly fishing bug this winter and can't stop thinking about catching a striper on the fly lol. just ordered an 8wt rod reel and line with a ton of different streamers. I've caught 20 inch rainbows and browns on a 5wt can't imagine a 20lb striper. great video btw B roll was on point!

Same with Salt Stripers up here on Cape Cod! Early is best, and, man can they move around and disappear at will!

Very cool video and beautiful footage. Do you have a tying description or material list for the fly used in this video? It looks interesting.

I like 6pm-10pm. I've tried early and have never caught them on Bull Shoals in the mornings, always the afternoon/evenings.
Ever consider larger flies upwards of 8" long? We chase them with 8"-12" swimbaits, and have caught several over 45lbs, lost count on how many 20lbs-30lbs fish.

@moswimb8slinger, You caught those on swimbaits in Bull shoals, or beaver?

Would love to know if full sinking line is necessary for this, hitting beaver this weekend to give it a go.

A two-hander or switch rod might do your shoulders a little good.
