I spent hours operating one of these in my younger days. My fathers concrete company used one of these and a small MF dozer along with a Davis task force 600 trenching machine. These machine fed me for quite awhile in the day. Its good to see ome of them.
Those little 3 cylinder Perkins engines are superb, they carried on a fine tradition of excellent engines from Perterborough. I remember our 1949 Fordson High Major with the Perkins P6, 40 years of really hard graft in the woods and only a pump & a set of injectors in all that time. She just kept going and, with good maintenance, so will your ''Perky' 👍👍
I had a Massey Ferguson 40 Industrial with a 3 cylinder Perkins diesel that looks very similar to yours. Moved a lot of dirt and gravel with it. Had a back blade, and forks that could be swapped out from the bucket. Well built tractor.
Next time you have a dirty tank, you can disconnect the fuel line going from the tank to the pump. If you can’t tell what’s in a tank, you can disconnect it at the output of the pump. If the pump works, it’ll pump out all the old crap, and it means you know if the pump works!
Thank you, great little video, the Massey looked too good and modern to leave to waste, it sounded great, started easily, and with a few consumables should be back in service. I was nearby in a laboratory when someone mixed acids in a test tube. A brief rocket plume of acid hit someone in the face. Without thinking, I grabbed them, plunged them into a running sink of water before twisting their head to catch the flow from the tap. I loaded them into my car and went straight round to the emergency hospital. An hour later, they emerged unmarked. Safety goggles prevent an awful lot of risk, damage and upset.
My dad bought a 1977 20 c industrial MF new and still has it. He keeps it like new. It is a frt end Loader with power take off and shuttle shift. It is the lighter series before the 30. I remember the day Lawrenceville tractor of Ga. delivered it new. He also bought a 74 MF 135 new, but sold it a few years back ,for 2 1/2 times the price new, it only had 400 hrs on it. It also was a diesel.
I just got a 60s MF200 tractor with a bucket running didnt really take much bleeding air I was surprised when it fired right over, Of course battery had to be replaced, im trying to figure out if it has a locking diff she gets stuck pretty easily and very weak Hydraulics ive never worked on tractors kinda fun.
I had the same model tractor. But mine had the backhoe with the loader. The machine was bought used and beat up. Everything was welded. Including the lower crossover frame. That Perkins diesel is a work horse. 30 HP but a gutsey engine. Mine had the automatic transmission with the 2 speed shift for high and low speed. I had to buy a new hydraulic pump for it. Never would start easy unless a spray of either. I finally sold it and bought an old Bucyrus Erie Dynahoe 190.

I just sold my 50A. Great machine for sure. But I bought a better one. A Massey Ferguson 60H series S, 4 wheel drive. It has a counter balance Perkins that is vibration free. People love their Massey's almost as much as Cat people love their Cats!
I got sprayed directly in the face when a hydraulic hose blew on a big cat loader. I was very glad I had my glasses on. It hit directly on my right lens and it knocked my head back and knocked my glasses off. And that hose was on the back of the bucket, a good six feet away.
I see young guys wanting to work for guys doing this stuff. I would say go find some old tractors (smaller ones) and do it yourself with some buddies. This is the real world. Tell these guys you will pay your own way finding these tractors.
