Very nice tutorial. If someone is having trouble with the small needle I've used a locker hook and yarn to duplicate tatting. A locker hook looks like a crochet hook with an eye and is used for rug making. Of course, your project will be a larger scale, but it might help you get the hang of needle tatting. Easier to see, too. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Linda I tried several times other videos, and nearly gave up. I came across yours. You have a lot of patience. I picked it up with no problem. Thank you very much.
Love what you say there n how u mean : keeping lost arts alive : am into my 2nd or 3rd week of hunting tatting needles... shuttle n threads.... migrating from crochet .... going crazy.... but love the learning process... thank you for your videos.... salute ur energy effort n inspiring.... blessings from India... namaste
Oh! This os awesome!! I will get that kind of needle and try that! This is so cute to add to my junk journals! Tfs! i will look at your other videos as well. Yes! We need to keep this art work alive!
Oh! I forgot to yarn over! Lol! Great video! It's so much easier to watch someone than do it by reading instructions! Thank you. I'll have to keep an eye out and see if you make any more videos on tatting, you're a great teacher!
So I scrounged around in my supplies and found a needle that is 3.5" long......with an eye that isn't much larger than the needle itself. And I found some crochet thread, with no label, so I have no idea what size. And I have practiced and practiced. Can't wait to get to Hobby Lobby tomorrow and pick up a #5 needle (thank Heaven, without a pointed end....I keep sticking myself, lol) and some #10 crochet thread. I am just so excited to be learning this art. In my thrift store shopping I have always looked for doilies and such that have tatting around the edges...…..and NOW I am going to be able to make some of my own! Thanks to you!!! You have a new subscriber here....and I'll be watching for more videos. Thanks soooo much for sharing this tutorial.
@@LindaDPrice I'm doing a happy dance!! Went to Hobby Lobby at Myrtle Beach and it took 3 people to help find the tatting needles, but they did!! I now have a set of 4....and #10 crochet thread...(turns out that that is the size I had on hand). I am curious to see the difference between this short needle that sticks me, and the true tatting needle. Off to picots and rings!!
Thank you, Linda, for sharing this video! I would love to learn to Tat and will be saving this to come back to when my time allows me to work with you. My mother always loved tatting but never had time to learn. I had a great aunt, who tatted but have nothing she did. It truly is a lost art and I am so glad to see someone, who is willing to attempt to bring it back. ...Carol
I had never heard of tatting and for that im sorry its beautiful and i cant wait to try my hand at it. Thankyou for sharing and for your insperation, keep the tutorials coming please, im going to need them lol xx
I've been admiring your tatting on your junk journals. Last night I watched the beginning of this and made a ring (or several as little flowers), but I don't think I close them properly, so I'll keep trying. This is a very helpful tutorial, and your tatting is so beautiful.
Linda this tutorial was great! In answer to your question … yes I think I could do it! What weight thread do you use? Are there multiple needle sizes? If so, what is your preference? Or what is best for a beginner? Agree with Diane's comment, I think the shuttle is more confusing! Have already subscribed to your channel, so when I'm ready I'll just come back. Thank you so much for sharing your talent! Hugs! Susan
I've always felt bad that when my grandmother tried to teach me tatting, I just couldn't get it! Maybe if I got the needle instead of the shuttle, I would succeed. Thank you SO much for your tutorial!!!
Wow, that’s really nice and doesn’t look too hard. I must give that a try. I’ve come over from your Fb post (I’m Lenneke Plat overthere) and subbed you. I think I must be able to do this. Thanks so much for showing us. Blessings.
I am a Covid induced, self taught, needle tatter. When I use a pattern using a chain, ring, chain,my chain is always pointy …not arched like on the pattern. I tried reversing my work or not reversing and it’s always pointy. Any suggestions?
Linda I want to get some thread what do you suggest I found some needles on amazon and was looking at the thread so what do you suggest needle size and thread brand and size just for starters I want to take this on a long trip I have coming up ty
Joanne, I just now am seeing your comment. I am sorry I did not see it before now. You can buy tatting needles and size 10 crochet thread at Hobby Lobby or order them on Amazon.
Hi, Linda. I commented on a post in a FB Junk Journaling group recently sharing that I would send you pictures of something I thought was tatting that I picked up at an Estate Sale recently. I am no longer in that group but, I did comment to you that I would message you on FB. I sent two pictures on FB. I appreciate any information you can provide. Thank you, Vee.
I am using this contraption I have around my neck that I mount my phone on which is not working well. I need to get a movable tripod. Thanks though for your suggestion. 😊👍

Thank you for taking the time to show us tatting. Your video is so helpful. 😊
Thank you, this clicks in my brain. I’ve tried tatting with a shuttle, does not work, with the needle, it works..thank you!
Very clear tutorial…..❤️
Thank you Linda! I have watched several other videos to try to learn needle tatting but yours really helped me to put it all together in my head.

I know from experience how that needle point can prick! I hope you find a tatting needle. You can order one from Amazon or Handy Hands.
That is, if you can't find a needle in the store.

Yes, you need to learn! And without a pointed needle that pricks.
Going to give it a try. Need to work on my turning to get the right curve. Thanks
My friend recommended you (via Junk Journal Junkies) I am delighted to be here getting a refresher (20 years since tatting)
Thank You
Thank you, Denise.

I'm trying, Linda. I won't quit till I get this!!!
Thank you for this video. I actually made this. First ti.e ever to tat. Again thank you.
That is wonderful! If you have already learned, watch more of my videos to see how to make individual designs.
This is beautiful. I’ve always wanted to learn this. Thank you for showing this
You are welcome!
Thank you! This video is sooooo helpful. I am just starting to tat and determined to get it. I have a long way to go.

Thank you so much ☺️ this was the most helpful explanation 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
Subscribed, Liked and Saved for when my supplies arrive 😊
Great to hear!
This is beautiful Linda! I might have to buy more from you instead of learning to do it myself. I have too many things on my plate this year. ❣️
Thank you! ❤️
Made my first tatted piece from this video!! Thank you so much!!!
That is wonderful!
you make it look so easy, I'm sure it's not, but what a great way to get started! I will start looking for supplies!
Thanks! I am so glad you are going to try it!
Lovely tutorial. I tried my hand at tatting few months ago and failed. You explain so well. Will try again. Thank you
Good! I am glad you will try it again. It took me six months to teach myself from written instructions. I was determined to learn it.
Thank you for sharing your talent Linda!
You are welcome!
Thank you so much, very detailed and very helpful. Just what I need.
You are welcome!
Oh my goodness I so want to learn how to do this, my granny did tatting with a shuttle! I wish she was still here to teach me🥰

Thank you Susan. You use size #10 crochet thread and size #5 tatting needle.
Sometimes I use size #3 needle. But it is smaller and harder to make. But more dainty.
I think I'm going to give this a try. Tfs hugs
Are you tatting yet, Brenda?
Thank you so much for your video. Very good instruction.
You are welcome, Jennifer

I love, love, love tatting! Is there a book for beginners I could by and what size needle should I buy? Thanks, Linda Winchell
Check out The Handy Hands website. They have many books.
Hi LINDA!! I'll try it ... If I suck ... I'll just BUY IT!!! 😂❣️
Yes, you need to try it!
I have a question. Once you turn over the first wreath which yarn should be at the top?
I just now saw this post. Did you figure it out or do you still have a question?
I am going to give it a whirl! What thread do you use?
Dale McBay I would start out with #10 crochet thread I buy at Hobby Lobby
Great tutorial.
Thank you!

Thank you Connie!

Can you send me a picture? That would help me see what you are doing.
Oh I would love to learn to do this. What type of thread are you using here? And is there only 1 size needle, if not … what size do you have here?
You can order the size 5 needle on Amazon or buy at Hobby Lobby. Also use size#10 crochet thread. Anything thinner will make it harder to do.
Linda I want to get some thread what do you suggest I found some needles on amazon and was looking at the thread so what do you suggest needle size and thread brand and size just for starters I want to take this on a long trip I have coming up ty
You need to use a size 5needle and size 10 crochet thread

Wow...amazing! What is a tatting needle?
You can look it up on Amazon. Just a long needle with a blunt tip.
Thank you!!
Hi Libby, do you think you would be interested in trying this? You can also buy one (size 5) at Hobby Lobby if you have one near you.
@@LindaDPrice yes...in the near future. I used to crochet years ago so hopefully I can do this in my old age.
Love your work but the camera constantly changing makes me dizzy. Lol

Kod nas se ova umetnost zove KERANJE. Jako teško raditi.
that was a crazy way to join to the picot lol imo
How do you do it? That is the way I learned to make it 25 years ago from written instructions. I guess we all learn the easiest way for us. 😊
Linda Price i know but it just looked so hard lol
i put the thread behind picot take needle to pull thread up thru picot over needle lol
did anyone else have a problem talking it off of the needle?
If you have a problem, it may be that you are making your stitches too tight. Try making them looser.
