- This video is an introduction to teaching dogs both puppies and adults which behaviours are likely to be reinforced in the presence of food. You can do this training with toys too. I will upload a separate video at a later date on this topic specifically.
Thanks ever so much for providing such imminently helpful information. I really appreciate that training is always done in a thoughtful and gentle manner, taking care to observe what the dog has to "say" about each interaction.
Such a well done video! Love it - thanks!
Another great video. Thanks for making these, they really help

Thanks for providing a great an informative video. Definitely gave it a thumbs up :)
Only just watched this one, and think I will be changing the way I teach this. I have always taught with food in the hand and rewarding backing away but I think the dish is far better for the dogs to understand and it doesn't get confused with other hand signals for touch or take it. I need to buy a few plastic bowls :)

The little JRT really had to think what was acceptable. Nice job!

How wonderful
Hi Chirag, you really are skilled! I was advised by The Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in London to watch your videos (instead of the Dog Whisperer hahaha). If you have the time, could you please have a look at these 3 questions (if you don't mind obviously)?:
I'm using 'she' for a female dog but it could be a male and also a puppy. It's really a 'general' question.
1) Let's say she is showing the correct behavior (e.g.: calmly sitting at a distance in front of me and establishing gentle eyes contact) in order to have a treat. As I don't want her to learn that she can get treats whenever she wants, I do not give her anything. But... Wouldn't she start unlearning everything, then misbehaving in my presence to then behave for the treat? Therefore, she would be teaching me: "Hoooman! I do what I want and if you want me to behave then only treats will work!"
2) Another point would be about duration. If at some point in her life I believe that training is complete thus stop giving food treats, wouldn't (s)he gets totally disinterested in correctly behaving over time?
3) Finally, as one little treat plus another one and another amounts to quite a lot. Do you decrease the amount of food during meal appropriately? (Actually, another one: are you adept of 1 meal a day or 3 lighter meals throughout the day - Sorry for the fourth question!)
Thanks!
