Do you have access to dry ice or liquid nitrogen? You can freeze liquids to a much lower temperature and it might make things easier and allow you to really branch out with these types of projects!

That would be an interesting chemical reaction. My inner child and scientific curiosity is grinning now 😀

What if you first created an epoxy “pit” in the cup before hand. Maybe you can create a silicon mold of some sort to give the ice cube a place to sit. Then once’s that’s cured, remove silicon mold but keep the epoxy in the cup. Then you can drop an ice cube in the “pit” and pour the resin on top? Not sure how “pourable” epoxy after waiting, but just an idea! Keep up the good work ✌🏻

Or maybe he can seal the icecube with UV-Resin before adding regular resin on top?

    • @mikkohernborg5291
      @mikkohernborg5291 2 года назад

@Bren Flynn Water (and ice) floats on top of the resin due to density differences, so pouring resin over ice would complicate things. Even if the epoxy is half-set, chances are it will lead to a big mess. Good idea, though.

I thought you had been hurt by the chipping so was glad to see it was only cola. Thanks for sharing

    Can you mix resin types?
Maybe you can start with a base layer, fix somehow the ice to it, cover the ice with UV resin just to maintain it's shape and then you cover the rest with regular resin.
Maybe like that you can have a piece that didn't melt on the way in.
    Might be interessing!
Keep up the amazing work, mate !!!

@@garyb6219 pour, vacuum pot to remove all trapped air then into the pressure pot for final curing. Unless the strawberry gets so hot it creates steam from the water there should be no air.
Will probably still slowly decay. The guys at that's rediculous coated a watermelon with flex seal 2 years ago and smashed it open. Video was posted today or yesterday. Even without air the rine and stuff turned a dull green/brown.
Would be awesome to set it up on a mount with camera set to a timer to take a picture a day so we could slowly watch the decay.
Also I want a strawberry shift knob / arcade joystick knob! Oh crap, a strawberry joystick knob on a pacman machine would be so epic!

    • @ctempleman1401

There are a lots of videos on RUclips and the food still seems to decay. Drying food items seems the way to go.
Pumpkins are gross, lemon and orange sliced earings, they don't look good but dried flowers etc seem to work better. Eggs, well so glad no smellivision and seen burgers and chips in resin also food in resin pen molds (both dry and wet).
Strawberries are so pretty I'd love to see it actually work. And the magnification through the resin would be great with the red of the strawberry and the contrast of the seed.

Whenever I want to cast liquids I make a clear cup then cut it in half then carve a golf ball sized cavity in the middle of each half. Then I put a cube of whatever liquid I want in the bottom portion, seal both halves back together with UV resin, then make another casing around it so that I have enough room to turn it any shape i want.

I wonder if you could make a “multi-ice” creation with levels of different ice.

What about putting the Cola first in the chamber and freeze it after?

Next week looks like Styrofoam or marshmallows lol. I guess you're going for the melting effect again. We gotta wait a whole week. 😩

Heat may expand or melt it as well. Wonder if he will use the vacuum chamber? Looking forward to it.

That's so cool, the carbonation is stuck in there for an eternity. I was hoping you went into a bigger cup because it was close to the side. If I start making things out of resin, I hope to make them as clear and shiny as you do. Well done as always buddy
