Please allow me to address an issue that some are having with my wife in this video. Some are being quite critical, some taking it to the point of being rude, about my wife not getting out of the truck to help me line up the trailer and staying on her phone. Let me make this very clear....my wife is NOT an employee of Midwest Truck, Inc. She works as an educator in a school system. While she is allowed to ride along with me on trips, our insurance WILL NOT allow her to help in any way since she is not one of our employees....PERIOD...END OF STORY. This is an insurance liability issue!!! As my grandmother used to say, "if you can't say anything nice, you can at least remain silent." Frankly, I find it ridiculous that I should even have to make such statements. I love my wife of over 30 years and I cherish the trips when she has the opportunity to ride along with me. Please help keep this a family friendly and RESPECTFUL community. Thanks for watching and God bless.
Ron. I’m very sorry that you have felt the need to have to address that issue, for me it isn’t an issue at all. What you and your good Lady do is your business and no one else’s period! To be able to spend some time together at work is great, I know when my mum started working with my step dads company they were the happiest they were ever were. I agree with your comment, my Dad used to say if you have nothing nice to to say, don’t say anything keep your options to yourself. Respect and best wishes from across the pond 🇬🇧
Agreed, Ron - you do as you do, for the armchair quarterbacks, let them get out there and even try to accomplish the professionalism that you have. As for the turntable on the regulator, that can actually be used to spin it since you really don't have a way to "turn around" if necessary. Thanks again for what you do.
I was not a rude comment in my opinion I was just asking a question but I am 12 so I ask questions to learn. How does Ethan work for the company when he’s 17 ? Our insurance requires you to be 25. Is it a family admittance thing?
Now it makes all the sense in the world. Yeah, my insurance company was picky like that too. I'm sorry if my comment offended you in anyway. That wasn't my intent.
Why on Earth would it ever become necessary for Ron to have to explain to anyone about his wife? Ron, I am glad you are able to take her with you and thank you for explaining what you never should have had to explain.
Great job Ron. U are right about ur wife. She's not an employee of Midwest Truck. It's a blessing just to have ur wife ride along when she can. Stay safe & God Bless
6:09 Trying To Line Up A Fifty Three Foot Trailer Perfectly With A Set Of Railroad Tracks While Jackknifing On A Two-lane Road, is my all-time favorite David Allen Coe song!
Maybe that a shorter tractor unit, they can be found with the same weight capacity would help. Just because big is beautiful in Yank Land, it is not practical.
Good Morning My Good Bro Ron Pratt Sir & God Bless You & All Of You're Whole Family Today & Thank You My Good Bro Ron Pratt Sir & Have A Great & Blessed Day Today & I'll Be Praying For All Of The People That You Work With Also Today
Railroads have very tough safety practices. To do steady work for them like Ron does, its a huge deal! Truly shows Midwest and Ron are highly respected. Keep up the good work and God bless
If there were more people on this planet that worked like Ron, OSHA, DOT officers wouldn’t have much to do. The man puts safety first before anything. Very nice work Ron, stay safe out there and watch your 6 sir. Happy holidays to you and your family!
Once again I marvel at the breadth of your expertise. Between towing, recovery, extrication, firefighting, heavy equipment operation, commercial trucking regulations, you know enough to handle four or five jobs besides the one you have. And it's all done in a courteous, professional manner, and when the opportunity arises, you pass it all along. The folks around Scott City are blessed to have you and your company there.
I have never seen a more professional than you you should do a video of all of the pictures over the years! You have taken YOU ARE THE BEST ALL WAYS TEACHING
Just a suggestion ... take one of the wide load flags, measure how far the rear has to come over to line up with the rails, measure that distance from the side of the trailer and stick the flag in the ground there!! Realign the trailer with it just touching the flag and you should be perfectly spot on! A lot cheaper than a wifi camera!!
I agree with your “ I’m used to working by myself”...in other words if you see me chaining/binding/strapping/loading/working....just stay back I’m busy 🤣 great video Ron it was nice to see something different today
Hauling 'oversized loads' could indeed be a lucrative addition to the Services that you offer. Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing. Take care and stay safe.
When I ran heavy haul, I didn't like making several trips to get binders and chairs so I got a couple 5 gallon buckets. Put 4 binders in 1 bucket and 4 chairs in another bucke. Hooked the hooks on the side of the bucket. It made my job much easier
I thought this video would show the new rail system but it's still the old one. Amazing watching you work with what you have and not complaining about it and doing such a good job. Keep up the great work.
Every trip you make is a puzzle solver, time is almost always limited for traffic reasons. You guys are awsome. May the Good Lord protect you all, all the time.
Now my Friday is complete. I got my weekly dose of Ron Pratt video. Kudos to your wife for offering to help in lining you up with the rail. Stay safe, stay healthy, and god bless..
My husband loves to sit and watch your videos at night when he has time. Merry Christmas to you, your family and everyone at the shop. From Laura and John in Chatham Ontario
Watching this makes a change to seeing cars get towed. I didn’t even know you could do this. I assumed everything went by flatbed truck. I’m in awe of this.
Ya did a great job on that and the patience .patience is one thing alot of towies don't have .so it makes you better than many ..so you have a great day and be safe and godbless
I use a long range wireless reversing camera, powered by a rechargeable 12v gel cell battery in a small waterproof jiffy box with a magnet mount on the camera as well as rubber straps. Works well, the 7" screen can handle 2 camera and just suction cups to the windscreen and plugs into the cigar lighter socket for power.
With the number of hours Mr Ron works having his wife ride with him is a blessing getting to spend some time together is important even if he has to work...love these videos
Ron tip on lining up, take a small cloth you can see from the cab, lay it on the ground to how you need to shift over to, line trailer up with it, works every time working alone.
That's a good way to make extra on the side. Bet not many can say they have the set up for towing rail equipment like that! That saves the rail company money on crane rentals etc trying to rescue equipment. Good job! Good way to expand!
It's not Friday morning without Ron and the crew. I'm always amazed at your knowledge, like which way the dolly handle turns on which kind of truck, but I didn't know you were an expert in railroad equipment, too, and knew which switches to use in the machine cab. LOL Great job, especially doing it alone.
You did an excellent job of lining up the rails when jackknifing. Once the machinery starts up on the deck then you can adjust so the rails are straight with rail bed. Great job
Railroads do look like that for a very short time then nature takes over and covers the ballast bed in dirt and weeds. nothing ever stays nice looking , as long as the equipment gets the job done safely then that's all that matters.
LOL. MR. PRATT WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS TAKING THE EASY JOBS,THIS WAS A SUPER CHALLENGE AND YOU MADE IT LOOK SO EASY. GOD BLESS YOU,YOUR WIFE AND THOSE YOU WORK WITH.WISH I WAS EVEN HALF THE GENTLEMAN YOU ARE.
I need to show this to the truckers that complain about not being able to back into our dock because of space. A nice back up job is a thing of beauty. like that fedex guy in new york backing into a garage loading dock.
Just found this video. Very well done. I’ve seen a regulatory pick itself up at a crossing turn 90 degrees and drive down the road to let another machine pass then get itself back on the rail. Too bad this one didn’t do that to make your line up easy. Of course the wheel flanges cyan be a little hard on the pavement!
Definitely on the right track with this one, Ron!! It's not a bad thing to diversify and have a more versatile business offer! Very astute, if I may say so. God bless and stay safe.
Hi Ron, you get 10/10 for your expert reversing. Are you planning to move locomotives as well!! A great video and even Mrs Ron came along for the ride. Oh; and it was a nice sunny day as a bonus. Roy W UK
At approx. 6:30 min. or so you mentioned it was a difficult maneuver for you to square yourself up on the tracks, well don't beat yourself up, you did a heck of a job. Just remember how darn near perfect you were lined up on your first roll in to load.
If you're going to be hauling a a lot of equipment. I'd recommend looking into speed binders because not only does it save wear and tear on the operator it saves time. You could still keep the normal binders on truck as well in case you need more binders then you have speed binders. That's what we do. Just a suggestion
As a truck driver for almost 20 years, that's a beautiful jack knife back my friend, God bless and thank you for what you do out there! And remember folks Slow down and move over!
you can now add railroad engineer to your tool box of knowledge!!!!thanks for the great content as usual!!!have a merry christmas and happy new year to everyone at MIDWEST TRUCK!!!!!T&Ps to all!!!!!
Tilt trailer jobs are never boring, but always challenging. As Ron said to the one guy he is used to working by himself. In my years of hauling tilt trailer it was usually a job site to transfer equipment to another job site and there was never anyone around. I was on my own. I once delivered and antique locomotive after it was refurbished to a museum in Massachusetts we did not have rail on our tilt trailer so I used 4x4x8 hardwood to do the same thing and lots of chains and binders, and straps for the 4x4x8 hardwood
Amazing job. I pulled flatbed in 2000. I was shocked you wench pulled that up there. Check into it to be sure, but it used to be you had to have a securement at least every 10'. Thanks for sharing Ron
If I may offer a suggestion: I found it was helpful to put a marker on the ground next to where I wanted the vehicle to end up - something that is visible from the driver's seat. In this case, one of your flags placed where you need the corner of the trailer to be. It doesn't eliminate the first attempt (obviously) but it does take much of the guesswork out of any subsequent moves. I also had a wireless reversing camera with a monitor in the cab - could be useful on a free-standing tripod that you can set up on or behind the trailer.
What a neat "railback". At least that's my name for it. My favorite of all your videos that I've been blessed to watch. God Bless and Happy Near in 2021.
A measurement from your mounted rail to the edge of your trailer will tell you where to set a marker (safety cone) from the stationary rail. Then back your trailer just inside the cone. Great job, you have multiple skills.
Ron a suggestion maybe tie one of the flag vertical to rail on the trailer; so that you can gage where the rail is to the other rail. Yes as you said a backup camera on the rail would have been helpful. Stay safe and may you ,your family and employees have a safe and wonderful holiday.
Hi Ron, another great video. Interesting to see another side of your job. If I may offer some advice, Walk your binders and chains down and place in the centre of the trailer where they won’t snag on the load before loading, and do the same in reverse when unloading. Saves walking up and down the side of the trailer and lifting them up onto the deck, especially on hot and humid days. Keep up the good work and stay safe out there.
Nice job. A little trick I do when loading equipment is I use an extra go pro and connect it to my cellphone. I then put the GoPro where I need to see and as I am operating the machine to the bed and up the bed I can view the preview screen on my cellphone and know if I’m centered or not.
You did good aligning the rails good Ron. And I'm so happy to see your wife with you. And God bless your 30 year marriage. Spend every moment with each other for unexpectedly God calls the other home. Don't be left wishing you had gone to the store or fishing when you were asked. Be with each other every opportunity possible. And I enjoy watching you work, ooh I wanna be out there helping you.
Think saw the new in-bed rails on deck of this rig. Makes hauling a multitude of different loads easier for you and the company. Nice job on a different type of action. Wondering if a Rear view camera set up would help you ~ save on the walking if working alone. Have a safe day out there.
sometimes YT gets it right and recommends a video out of the blue that's really cool like this one. Thats one heck of a fine solo job you did there, amazing. Keep it up. Sub'd!
Those trailers are the best. We used to load a prototype bus on them and then “jump” it to a step deck to haul long distance then hire a tow company at the destination to get it back in the ground. It was cheaper than hiring a Landoll for the whole trip.
Mr.Pratt even I know that your wife can't help an I don't know nothing about what you do,I just started watching your videos last month(I find them educational)I am glad that she can go with you at times, don't anyone criticize you or your wife they need to stay silent if they can say anything nice.

Trying To Line Up A Fifty Three Foot Trailer Perfectly With A Set Of Railroad Tracks While Jackknifing On A Two-lane Road, is my all-time favorite David Allen Coe song!
LOL. And, yes, I know who David Allen Coe is.....showing my age. Thanks for watching and God bless.
@@RonPratt nah, not showing age, showing that you know good music
Well, it was all that I could do, to keep from crying....

And price was right & Ron jumps when the RR calls price not as much oh and the paperwork
If there were more people on this planet that worked like Ron, OSHA, DOT officers wouldn’t have much to do. The man puts safety first before anything. Very nice work Ron, stay safe out there and watch your 6 sir. Happy holidays to you and your family!
U know its a good morning when u get to watch midwest truck & matts offroad recovery videos back to back
Woah I thought I was the only one and the next generation are looking good too with lizzy and Rudy from matts crew and Ethan from Ron’s
Once again I marvel at the breadth of your expertise. I've been a mechanic near 50 years, can't remember how did we work before ZIP TIES
You used electric fence wire or coat hangers before plastic ties
ZIP ties clearly are the best tool for a mechanic, i can 100% agree on that lmao
Electrical tape works quite well to hold wires or hoses together.
Black electrical tape. Lol
Mechanics wire lol
Never seen something go directly from RR tracks onto a trailer. That was fascinating!
Ron,
I don't understand why people have to be so rude about something they know nothing about.
Keep doing as you're doing, Good job.
This Peterbilt Tractor and float trailer were a wise investment. The railroad will pay Midwest Truck very well for you help. Awesome.
I’de like to know the fees he gets for doing something like this or like the Semi trailer wrecks he recovers.
I have never seen a more professional than you you should do a video of all of the pictures over the years! You have taken YOU ARE THE BEST ALL WAYS TEACHING

I work with turnbuckles on a regular basis, and paint the right handed threaded end with a marking color (yellow in my case)
That's an amazingly simple and brilliant idea!!! I may just do that. Thanks for watching and God bless.
I thought this video would show the new rail system but it's still the old one. Amazing watching you work with what you have and not complaining about it and doing such a good job. Keep up the great work.
I must have missed the discussion of a rail system for the trailer
Every trip you make is a puzzle solver, time is almost always limited for traffic reasons. You guys are awsome. May the Good Lord protect you all, all the time.
Ron you are such a inspiration to people, I like how you show how to do things and not shut the camera off and do it then turn it back on
Now my Friday is complete. I got my weekly dose of Ron Pratt video.
Kudos to your wife for offering to help in lining you up with the rail.
Stay safe, stay healthy, and god bless..
Thanks for hauling our Regulator Ron. Great video! -Cody

Watching this makes a change to seeing cars get towed. I didn’t even know you could do this. I assumed everything went by flatbed truck. I’m in awe of this.
Going to have to change your company name to Midwest Truck and Rail....
Watching a tiny winch haul that huge piece of railroad equipment onto a trailer with rails on it. Remarkable.
Ya did a great job on that and the patience .patience is one thing alot of towies don't have .so it makes you better than many ..so you have a great day and be safe and godbless

Always a great day when a new Ron Pratt video drops!!! So cool to see the different loads, not just wrecks. God Bless Ron!
That's a good way to make extra on the side. Bet not many can say they have the set up for towing rail equipment like that! That saves the rail company money on crane rentals etc trying to rescue equipment. Good job! Good way to expand!
You have been on the right track all the time.
DANG RON, you are incredible! This new direction is fascinating! Thank you
Friday is now complete. Thank you sir for the video, God bless you.
It's not Friday morning without Ron and the crew. Super job Ron. I know this will be a great addition to your services. Be well my friend.. Blessings to you.
You did an excellent job of lining up the rails when jackknifing. Once the machinery starts up on the deck then you can adjust so the rails are straight with rail bed. Great job
I like the ending almost as much as the operation, the time lapse of the whole operation, keep up the good work and
God bless.
The timelapses are awesome it gives a different perspective
Bless your wife's heart. She said I can try. That's a great woman for you. God bless
You're a man wearing many hats and knows the tricks of the trade👍
That's some really really pretty ballast there he just finished working on.
What a railroad should look like.
Railroads do look like that for a very short time then nature takes over and covers the ballast bed in dirt and weeds. nothing ever stays nice looking , as long as the equipment gets the job done safely then that's all that matters.
No stinking graffiti. I'm so tired of the unsightly graffiti.
LOL. MR. PRATT WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS TAKING THE EASY JOBS,THIS WAS A SUPER CHALLENGE AND YOU MADE IT LOOK SO EASY. GOD BLESS YOU,YOUR WIFE AND THOSE
YOU WORK WITH.WISH I WAS EVEN HALF THE GENTLEMAN YOU ARE.
Anxiously waiting to see the new setup for the loading and unloading these pieces of railroad maintenance of way equipment.
I need to show this to the truckers that complain about not being able to back into our dock because of space. A nice back up job is a thing of beauty. like that fedex guy in new york backing into a garage loading dock.
I really enjoyed watching your latest video. I enjoyed watching your enthusiasm and ceaseless energy! Job well done!
I can tell you enjoy the challenge of different loads like this rail machine !
Outstanding work sir.
Hello to the Pratt's. So enjoyed the video! A step away from the norm to be sure!!! God bless, stay safe.
Definitely not much room for error when lining up the rails, awesome job.
You may not be an "expert" at moving equipment, but you do a very good imitation of one. Nice job.
Definitely on the right track with this one, Ron!! It's not a bad thing to diversify and have a more versatile business offer! Very astute, if I may say so. God bless and stay safe.
I've done heavy haul for close to 10 years. You're doing a fine job.
I’m glad to see you guys have diversified out int multiple areas so you can get better use of things
Another Friday, another cup of coffee, and another wonderful Ron Pratt Video. Have a happy holiday everyone.
As a new cdl driver. 1 year or so. That manuveing of that tilt bed was phenomenal
🇳🇱NL.a very nice job is something different on to the next video greetings from the netherlands and for all of you stay healthy. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🍀❤️
Being a big RAIL fan this was a very cool video! Thanks Ron!!
Hi Ron, you get 10/10 for your expert reversing. Are you planning to move locomotives as well!! A great video and even Mrs Ron came along for the ride. Oh; and it was a nice sunny day as a bonus. Roy W UK

If you're going to be hauling a a lot of equipment. I'd recommend looking into speed binders because not only does it save wear and tear on the operator it saves time. Wow! You surprised me with this towing, the first time I saw this kind of towing. Great job !!!
Perfect back up! Watched you do that lots of times and in all types of weather, to the inth degree.
A measurement from your mounted rail to the edge of your trailer will tell you where to set a marker (safety cone) from the stationary rail. Then back your trailer just inside the cone. Great job, you have multiple skills.
I really enjoy your videos and love how humble you are about everything. Keep up the good work, God bless and safe travels.
I was thinking how nice the ratchet binders were compared to the old lever type.
Clearly marked tie down points, awesome, as well as nice system for loading
Ron a suggestion maybe tie one of the flag vertical to rail on the trailer; so that you can gage where the rail is to the other rail. Yes as you said a backup camera on the rail would have been helpful. Stay safe and may you ,your family and employees have a safe and wonderful holiday.
Yeah... Well done with the work Mr. Ron Pratt. I'm Malaysian. But I like to watch your video from Missouri USA. We always support you & your company

Making it look like child's play!! Great job!
Ron: "I'm used to working by myself."
Social Distancing before Social Distancing was a thing. :-)
Sometimes you have to do the one thing that we all must never do... stop on train tracks lol id be a nervous wreck! 😂
Everyday is a learning experience.. I believe you did ok. Remember, as long as nothing broke, it was perfect.
You did good aligning the rails good Ron. And I'm so happy to see your wife with you. And God bless your 30 year marriage. That is one hell of a winch
Hey Ron.....keep the great videos coming. I really enjoy your videos and like the fact that they are family friendly.
Very patient people in you area..must be a southern thing...up north they would be honking and calling the police on you....amazing!!
I like how ron start hello ladies and gentlemen
Those trailers are the best. We used to load a prototype bus on them and then “jump” it to a step deck to haul long distance then hire a tow company at the destination to get it back in the ground. It was cheaper than hiring a Landoll for the whole trip.
That must have been a pain in the keester to get the trailer lined up with the rails, but still an awesome job Mr. Pratt, god bless and be safe
Good job Ron. Glad to see there are other niches for you find work for you family business. Always look forward to you Friday uploads!
Mr.Pratt even I know that your wife can't help an I don't know nothing about what you do,I just started watching your videos last month(I find them educational)I am glad that she can go with you at times, don't anyone criticize you or your wife they need to stay silent if they can say anything nice.
I thought you would have had one of your team with you to help line the trailer up.great job Ron seeing as you were on your own.
hard to justify 14 man hours of paid travel time for 10 minutes of work lining him up.
